Clever Hill GC is a historic course that offers a superb environment for golf and to enhance fitness of those using it.
Any facility that helps improve fitness should be retained in order to maintain the health of the population.

I've recently discovered Cleeve Hill and it's charm. It's a unique golf course one which is rare in this day. I truly believe that this course, managed and marketed could be one of the ’must play’ courses not only in the region but in the UK.

Jeremy Hall (Headley, 2020-09-10)

#1224

The course at Cleeve Hill is unique: a links course on top of a hill. A beautiful layout, with superb views and some quirky holes, it is also a superb test of golf.

I have played on Cleeve Hill many times over the years and to lose a facility like it would be a real tragedy for golf.

Alan R Price (Puivert, 11230, 2020-09-10)

This golf course is unique and truly memorable place to play. Golfers and the public share the landscape and what possible alternative use can be made of the land?

Robert Standfield (Worcester, 2020-09-10)

Barry Hopkins (Cheltenham , 2020-09-10)

I am signing because Cleeve Hill Golf Club is a piece of Gloucestershire history. It is in an area of outstanding beauty which should be preserved. To develop this site would cause massive traffic disruption to the surrounding area

Sue Barnes (Gretton , 2020-09-10)

#1264

Signing because I play the course and had a lot of good times up there. It would be a huge loss to the community.

Guy Richards (Bicester, 2020-09-10)

I love this golf course and had lessons years ago

Darren Hoddy (Cheltenham , 2020-09-10)

I first started riding racehorses on Cleeve Hill in 1967, there were always golfers there back then. I am a golfer and played for the first time there three weeks ago. I was amazed at how good the course was and how well kept it was. Tewkesbury Borough Council should be ashamed of themselves for not going to the ratepayers who pay there wages without a public consultation first. They should be ashamed but they won’t, typical local authority I’m afraid to say. This facility needs to be saved for everyone. The clubhouse needs to be renovated and bring it up to a standard that befits a most enviable position. How much has TBC spent of its upkeep in the last 20 yrs, nothing by the looks of it. Another disgraceful display of arrogance by council employees, shame on the lot of em.

David Francis (Cheltenham , 2020-09-10)

#1275

The Golf Course is a wonderful amenity for people who live in the area. It gives ordinary people the opportunity to enjoy golf. Many other golf courses in the area are too expensive for the majority of us. The club house is a great place for a drink or a meal for walkers. It would be a devastating loss for the còmmunity.

Wendy Tomlinson (Cheltenham, 2020-09-10)

#1276

Need to keep golf going

Len John (Cheltenham, 2020-09-10)

#1278

Like my course, Minchinhampton Old, Cleeve is one of the traditional hilltop Cotswold courses along with Painswick and Stinchcombe.
I do hope some TBC councillors will be looking to secure their vote when the public marks its cross

John Nation (Stroud, 2020-09-10)

#1280

Historically, it would be a very sad loss of a minicipal golf course offering an inclusive opportunity for everyone to play golf. Very good for the community.

Ruth Robins (Cheltenham , 2020-09-10)

#1285

I started playing Golf there from the age of 12 and still live in Cheltenham and still use the course. It’s a challenge to play and should not be lost

Christopher Rutland (Cheltenham , 2020-09-10)

#1287

As a family we play Golf here and it would be sad to see it go.

Charlotte Haynes (Cheltenham , 2020-09-10)

Cleeve Cloud Golf Club is an important recreational outlet for the local community and has long been part of the local landscape.
Loss of the clubhouse will be remove an important venue for walkers using Cleeve Hill.

REG FAHEY (Cheltenham, 2020-09-10)

Its part of the fantastic sporting heritage of Cheltenham. If it was a building it would have been listed!

Nick Morris (Gloucester, 2020-09-10)

If a golf courses were listed by English Heritage, this would be Grade II. History and quality are not utilised, and this course should be celebrated not mothballed.

Sam Cooper (Hoylake, 2020-09-10)

#1320

I remember playing here on numerous occasions when I lived in the West Country. Many a misty morning spent. How can they deprive future generations of that view when playing our wonderful game. Pull your bloody finger out Tewkesbury Borough Council.

Dave Hillis (Edinburgh , 2020-09-10)

#1322

Living in prestbury it’s always been there. When I attended bishop Cleeve school we had lessons there🌈⛳️😢

Allen Beale (Cheltenham, 2020-09-10)

#1324

I’m signing this petition because I do not wish to see this long-standing and unique golfing facility close. I am not convinced that the key player, Tewkesbury Borough Council, has done as much as it should have done to secure the future of the facility for the benefit of the golfing community and the Cleeve Hill Trust.

Christopher O’Mahoney (Southam, 2020-09-10)

It’s part of the hill

Philip Harward (Cheltenham, 2020-09-10)

#1332

Besides the fact it's a wonderful golf course, Cleeve Hill is historic and a part of England's heritage.

Tony Dear (Bellingham, 2020-09-10)

#1335

This would be such a loss to the local area for pure greed

Adam Brafield (Cheltenahm, 2020-09-10)

#1336

I was born and raised in Cheltenham and this an atrocity.

Yvonne Johnson (Wadebridge, 2020-09-10)

It’s a beautiful course. Cheap to play on and open to all . Always a fun and relaxed experience whatever the weather.

Peter Holdaway (Cheltenham, 2020-09-11)

#1364

I'm signing because I am a professional golf course architect and recognise Cleeve Hill as being a unique and high quality layout, worthy of study and respect. I've played the course many times over the years and love it to bits. It is one of the most underrated and undervalued courses in the UK. It needs to be saved. There is no other course quite like it in the world of golf.

Robin Hiseman (Fleet, 2020-09-11)

#1369

As an ex Cheltonian, I have very fond childhood memories of various family members playing here - the history, the stories are priceless.
My husband is a golfer & was horrified to hear of the demise.
Please don’t let this happen, let more families/generations make more memories.

Jackie Matthews (Swansea , 2020-09-11)

#1378

I started playing on Cleeve Hill as a boy. It ignited a life long passion for golf. The course, it’s trials and terrors, were matched only by its utter beauty and peacefulness. A world without the approach to “The Camp” is a lesser world.
Please see sense and keep this magnificent course open.

Matthew Hall (Edinburgh , 2020-09-11)

#1380

i think this is a travesty that a golf course that has been in exhistence for 125 years should be forced to close because of lack presumably of funding by the Council. A great course open to the general public not only for golf but also for exercise and the views are fantastic.

Adrian Sollis (Evesham, 2020-09-11)

#1382

Cleeve Hill is a truly special golf course I often delight in playing when visiting family in the area. To see it disappear due to ignorance, greed and petty politics would truly be a tragedy.

Sam Alison (Dunstable, 2020-09-11)

#1383

This unique course is ranked by many as one of the top hundred in the Country and just cannot be allowed to die.
With all this extra building of houses we need our leisure facilities more than ever.
Shame on you TBC if you allow this to just disappear.

Michael Chandler (Cheltenham, 2020-09-11)

#1384

It is imperative this golf course remains as a leisure facility for the community.

Diane Chandler (Cheltenham, 2020-09-11)

Becky Evans (Cheltenham , 2020-09-11)
