Allow WA Citizens To Return Home From Interstate

As Jake has succinctly explained, residents of WA should be allowed to return home to family and loved ones. My daughter had her first G2G pass rejected and it’s traumatic for everyone. She is at University in Melbourne and all of her family are in Perth. Why should she be rejected to return home at the end of the semester? Thankfully her application has been approved

I believe we should be managing the borders more efficiently and expanding the exemptions.

I want to return home to WA with my wife and relocate permanently, to be with my friends and family, also so I don’t miss my brothers wedding in December. Not being able to return home is heartbreaking and taking a mental toll on both myself and my wife.

I have immediate family in WA, just them and their partner, and no family in WA. They are unable to leave WA as they will not be allowed to return to their chosen home. Nor are their family members allowed in. Not fair, not necessary to keep people safe from Covid.

It’s heartless and McGowan is making a mockery of this state and his actions. He has to be stopped. Time to open the borders and let Australians enjoy the freedom this country is known for. #idontstandwithmark

I’m signing because I have been rejected by WA.

I'm signing this because I 100% agree with this petition. There are so many people suffering greatly due to the hard borders McGowan has put in place. The mental health of my husband as an Eastern state FIFO worker has totally been disregarded. I'm very worried about his mental health and the damage it is causing on our children.

Because my baby has not been allowed to meet her family who live in another covid free state. Because my mental health has suffered navigating new motherhood without my support network.

Im signing because I agree with the cause and am also a WA resident wanting to come home. I have a lot of very good reasons to go home but my 4 passes have all been rejected. Please allow us to just go home to our families.

I’m a WA resident stranded in Melbourne and all my applications for travel pass were denied. Even though I mentioned my mental health deteriorating and having suicidal urges and want to be with my family so I can get the emotional support i need.........it took them 10mins to decide that my travelling is not essential and my pass is denied.

The hard border is not fair nor transparent, monitor & isolate those coming in but don't keep families apart.

My family and I are also heavily affected by refusal to enter WA, where all of our immediate family, support, property, jobs, study and school are for myself and my family.

Because my daughter & family have been travelling Australia & are in heading for Northern Territory. They have been waiting up in Cairns hoping for W.A. to open, so they can come home. At this stage if granted exemption you need to isolate in Kunnunurra for 2x weeks! That would be fine if there was enough accommodation to do that. But pretty impossible for a family of 5x in a caravan for that length of time. They do understand that they will need to quarantine so they had arranged to do that at my house, unfortunately this isn’t an option. It just isn’t good enough! They are allowing people flying back to isolate at home from states that still are active. But there has been no number of cases anywhere they have been 😡. So why is it not lifted for people travelling by vehicles???

100% believe this is beneficial to everyone who is struggling with these boarder rules, its unfair and soul destroying. Myself and my 3 children where planning to move to perth from nz in December to be with my husband who had gone over before us to set us up for the big move but because of a close family member being diagnosed with cancer and only having months to live we decided to stay in nz to be with them during their last moments sadly they past away in march during lock down in nz luckly we were apart of their bubble so was able to be by their side till the end 😭 now we are trying to move to perth have been waiting for things to change but canr wait any longer and have been denied entry my husband hasn't seen me and the kids for nearly a year and the youngest who is now 1 was only 4months when he left, we are desperate to be reunited theirs nothing left for us in nz ive given up my job and house to move to perth and hubby has a job and house and everything we need in perth now we have been left absolutely lost not know what to do.

I’m am signing this petition because I think Mr McGowan should be easing the interstate boarder restrictions especially to people who have been in States with “0” cases and those people should not have to Quarantine if they have been there longer than 2.5 weeks . If they were going to get the virus it would have happened in the previous State. He has to learn to start living with it like all other States . Take some advice from Queensland seem they were able to manage it when clusters appeared and they did an excellent job of getting rid of it fast .
A lot of locked out West Australians agreed with Mr McGowans decision at the time when needed ( for health reasons) and thought they were helping him by staying put and isolating where they were and not rushing home clogging up roads , resources and could have potentially had the virus .
He will have more of a problem with mental health problems than Corona virus if he doesn’t stop destroying more lives.
He always had our vote but now we are starting to turn the other way from how he is handling this situation when it’s now time to open .
Why does he want to split Australia up ???😡

My best friends sister is in ICU with kidney and liver failure in Perth after an attempted suicide. Her sister and mother live in Melbourne and were continuously declined entry despite multiple attempts to return to their home state to spend time with their extremely depressed and vulnerable daughter.

She is still on ventilation and her prognosis remains 50/50.

It took 4 attempts to have my g2g pass approved and when my family finally crossed the border at Kununurra, there was a definite 'good cop - bad cop' routine going on. It was a very upsetting and stressful experience entering our home state and we were made to feel like we had done something wrong for trying to re-enter the state now and not returning when Mr McGowan had ordered it months back, no matter what our reasons were. Although we were allowed to cross the border, our reason for entering almost didn't "satisfy" one of the officers on duty. He implied that I might be able to cross with the 2 children but my partner's reason was not satisfactory to him and he could not. Not a care or thought to how that would work out or what it would do to a family. A deflated West Aussie and her family are home but it should never have been this stressful. Very much up to the man on the ground when you cross. Disappointing.

The hard boarder works, so let more people come home using quarantine - its a good system - lets use it more. People need to come home, need their family and friends.

We are returning WA travellers and victims of the G2G pass, given passes that stated "Approved to Enter WA" we travelled 800kms from Darwin to Kununurra,to be interrogated and denied entry.
After writing to Mark McGowan's office to complain .
We have now just received an email from G2G pass stating we are unsuccessful 24 days after we applied for and received the first one, just to cover their arse I would assume.
