I was fortunate enough to play in the Peach Bowl and All American Bowl, as well as remain friends with numerous NFL players and coaches... and all those memories do not even compare to the experience of my Thanksgiving day games against Middletown South. The friendships forged on my high school team are stronger today than any others, and our thanksgiving games were more important than winning the state championships... Just knowing the South guys were going to try and rip our heads off gave us all a heightened awareness of every single play on every down, and the enemies on the other side of the ball pregame became friends post game. Some of the fondest memories of my parents and family are from those games: Mom cooking in the early morning as dad took me to the field, walking hand in hand with my parents onto the field, and rehashing the entire game while eating a great meal after the game... Of all the games I played in high school and college, the Thanksgiving day game was my favorite still to this day, and it would be a shame to end it.

I am signing because as a proud Alumni family of MHSN ( Classes of 1993,1995 and 2020) this game is a long standing tradition in Middletown, it is important to the students, staff, fans and most of all the players (especially the seniors) who work hard and give everything they have at every practice. My feeling is if their can be protests on school property... then the Thanksgiving game can happen too. Let's make this happen!!!!

I am a former football player at Middletown North. As a town we should, as tradition, play this game on thanksgiving. I believe this because this is what kids DREAM of when they play at either North or South. At least that’s what I did. The experience is amazing. Everyone comes together as a community and everyone unites as a town. Other towns are playing so why can’t we? We as a town have overcame SO much more than this. Please don’t take this away from the football players. Games like this are remembered forever by the players.

As MHSN alumni '95 and member of the Marching Band, this game is not only important to the football teams, but to the band & cheerleaders as well. If others games can be played, so can this one.

I went to North. I think its disgusting that these poor kids cant play this memorable game, a game that would be remembered for a lifetime!! I hate to say it but I wonder if there is more to it! How could anyone strip this tradition? I'd be ashamed to be the person who made this decision! Apparently, they dont have children and have no idea what this game means.

Laura Justice (Shrewsbury, 2020-10-27)

We lived in Port Monmouth and both my children went to Middletown North and they always went to the games. It's a tradition! Don't take this away from the kids and township. Put the game back on!
