SAY NO to MEDIUM DENSITY DEVELOPMENT in Avalon Beach

Comments

#201

We don’t need over development in the Avalon area.

Bryce Robert Henderson (Avalon, 2021-03-01)

#208

Don't ruin the unique village feeling that is Avalon. We don't need medium density housing or even more traffic on our narrow roads

Kieran Horkan (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#211

I'm signing because over the past few years I've already noticed a big increase in traffic on barrenjoey road heading south from North Avalon in the mornings
And have been see-ing too many mature grey gums and majestic palms knocked down for Rawson/Binet style homes, that look like fortresses with no trees on the plot of land, totally changing the character of the place

Sonny Vandevelde (Avalon, 2021-03-01)

#212

I am against medium density housing on the Northern Beaches, Avalon Newport and south.

Roger Banham (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#213

Avalon in particular has remarkably limited access/exit roads in an emergency and I am very concerned about adding even more population

Helen Tracey (Sydney, 2021-03-01)

#215

I’m signing because the area north of Bilgola Bends cannot cope with more people

There are not enough services and facilities for the current population

There are no buses to get around, there is no parking for people shopping, there is not enough space for recreational purposes

Sam Skinner (Avalon, 2021-03-01)

#217

I love the natural beach village atmosphere here, it is why most Avalonians live here and this proposal would ruin that. There is already too much traffic (can take minimum 30 min for me to get to shop less than 1km away on a Summer Sunday), limited schools and restrictions on doing many things because of environmental impact. Higher buildings and more cars and people will not be conducive to supporting the fragile ecosystem that is here and that has been the reason alot of things cannot go ahead for locals. It would be hypocritical of the council to therefore allow this proposal given the obvious impact it would have.

Danika Chauhud (Avalon Beach MSw, 2021-03-01)

#218

The infrastructure for this area will not change and is under extraordinary stress now. These plans can in no way improve living in these suburbs.

Elyse Cole (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#220

Already terrible traffic

Jon Conners (Narrabeen , 2021-03-02)

#224

The area is already way over developed and populated with inadequate infrastructure. NO MORE!!!

Mark Miller (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-02)

#226

I chose to live in Avalon Beach, a suburb with a village feel to it, family houses tucked in between trees. When I look at the skyline, it is a tree line - although very pretty at night when homes have their lights on and you realise just how many houses there are, invisible otherwise. Sydney has a home huge amount of land to develop, but the peninsula is limited, with access roads and limited public transport. Please take this time to consider the future of our area.

Louise Alston (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-02)

#228

I’m signing because I have lived here 25 yrs and believe medium density housing will ruin the village. We do mot have the infrastructure to support it.

Justine Excell (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-02)

#230

The Developers have already built sub standard units in Newport. More high rise will totally destroy the area.

Philomena Zwolenski (Sydney, 2021-03-02)

#231

I don’t want medium density housing on the northern beaches as our infrastructure won’t cope.

Melinda Frowde (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-02)

#234

Avalon simply does not have the capacity for further population growth via increased density housing

Dylan Lamont (Sydney, 2021-03-02)

#235

We just don’t have the roads and infrastructure for this type of development. Things are already too congested, taking hours to get from one end of the beaches to the other because of gridlocked traffic. If the Federal, State and Local Governments spent our rates and tax dollars on public infrastructure and roads instead of giving my taxes and rates to a small group of Collaroy beachfront residents (who should be funding their own landscaping/building costs for a private Seawall/ ongoing costs to maintain a Seawall on private property), we might be able to support more cars on the road or offer quality public transport.

Kristel Ness (North Narrabeen , 2021-03-02)

#238

I don't want it to happen

Oliver Collocott (Avalon beach, 2021-03-02)

#239

To support the people of this beautiful community keep things the way they are. Just sometimes change is not for the better. We must keep some things and not ruin them.

Claire Rothheudt (Cowra, 2021-03-02)

#240

Infrastructure not enough for existing population. We don't have a hospital.Gold coast with similar population has 5.Bigola bends am and pm peaks ridiculous. Not enough parking in Avalon or Newport villages.
Definitely no room for more housing of any sort.

Rob Barbour (Sydney, 2021-03-03)

#242

I am strongly against this plan by Council to implement Medium Density in Avalon.
It denegrates the character of the area and impose greater demand on its limited resources.

Marcel Peter Way (Avalon, 2021-03-03)

#243

I live within 400 metres of Avalon Village and as a recent resident (only 6 years in the postcode), I know that new people need to be welcomed to help shape our local area, but changing the dynamic of the planning laws in this way is underhanded and won’t benefit the suburb.

Amber Almenning (Avalon, 2021-03-03)

#247

I’m signing because we do not want medium density housing in Avalon or Newport, or high density in MV.
We want to protect these villages and keep them as the unique coastal environments they are. We don’t want overcrowded and congested villages and roads.

Emma Cole (Sydney, 2021-03-03)

#248

Just signing this to say that as an Avalon local I don't want to see any more development in the form of apartments (like in Dee Why). I'm not opposed to more affordable dwellings in the form of town houses as long as they don't exceed 2 stories in height, and are environmentally sustainable (5 to 7 star rating - passive solar design etc)

Well designed townhouses are fine as long as they blend in with the local environment with decent sized gardens and native landscaping around them. But no blocks of units, thanks! Let's keep Avalon special and not full of medium density apartments like the rest of Sydney.

Luke-Thomas Gartrell
Avalon Beach resident

Luke Gartrell (Sydney, 2021-03-03)

#249

The environmental sensitivity of the Avalon microclimate - angophra forests and mangrove eco systems - need to be protected for everyone. Less development in this area including stricter controls on low density development to protect this unique area please. It is an important tourist attraction as well as a key habitat for native species.

Josephine Grieve (Bronte, 2021-03-03)

#254

Over crowded now - will not cope with infrastructure

Judith Brinkmann (Avalon Brach, 2021-03-04)

#256

Our local area is stretched to capacity as is. Any further development will jeopardise the natural environment, existing public infrastructure & quality of life for residents.

Joel Seaton (Sydney , 2021-03-04)

#257

I am concerned about development to date causing so much congestion and destruction of our peninsula. The proposed new housing plan, on top of the alarming growth in AirBnB type accommodation is too much for our very physically constrained environment.

Nicholas Hart (Bilgola Plateau , 2021-03-04)

#259

Avalon is at capacity with its infrastructure and can’t support more housing. Their school already has 1000 kids and is one of the largest in nsw.

Maraya Bell (Mona vale, 2021-03-04)

#261

Changing the housing density is the first step to destroying the natural beauty of this area. This will not provide affordable housing to those who need it. We now mostly have an appalling bus system despite being promised the opposite. The increase in traffic, pollution and the loss of green space will have a detrimental effect on the lives of existing and future residents.

Helen Crozier (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-04)

#266

Will destroy the areas natural beauty and cause overcrowding and traffic issues
We do not have your live on top of each other in such a large country

Robert Harley (Avalon beach, 2021-03-04)

#268

The impacts to traffic and Avalon vibe will irrevocably and negatively impact the area.

Jacqui Scruby (Avalon, 2021-03-04)

#270

I am against the proposed medium density apartments within 1km of Avalon

Adam Davison (Avalon, 2021-03-04)

#271

This will destroy the area. These governments need to be stopped both federally and state. They are just a puppet for the corrupt developers

Paul Davis (Monavale, 2021-03-04)

#277

It will destroy the village atmosphere create major traffic issues and parking

Jacinta Newcombe (Avalon, 2021-03-04)

#282

As a rate payer I do not want Avalon any more impacted by more housing and infrastructure.

Paula Goodman (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-05)

#286

We don’t need more congestion here.

Janet Franks (Manly Vale, 2021-03-05)

#289

I grew up in Avalon asnd am now 62. Medium density development would destroy the village atmosphere that is at the heart of Avalon. The environment id precious and part of its beauty and charms. It eould be crazy to destroy both these things with over development It is part of a narrow peninsula aand cannot sustain tbis kind of development..

Elisabeth MOODY (Newport Nsw 2105, 2021-03-05)

#290

I am totally against medium density development as do not have the infrastructure to cope with an increased population from Mona Vale to Avalon and it will spoil our environment which is very green and low density .

Karen Martin (Avalon Beach , 2021-03-05)

#291

I’m opposed to further development north of Mona Vale as there simply isn’t the infrastructure to support it. Newport and Avalon Primary are enormous, the roads can’t support additional traffic (particularly the bends) and the hospital has been relocated to Warringah.

Rebbecca Stewart (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-05)

#295

Already to many people here

John Grainger’s (Sydney , 2021-03-05)

#296

There’s too many cars and people in a small town of Avalon. Not enough parking. Congestion.

Elyse Johnson (Avalon, 2021-03-05)

#297

I object

Kate Wood (Avalon, 2021-03-06)

#301

I value the unique flora and fauna of this area and increased development will put this in jeopardy. People live here because it still has a small coastal community feel and visitors come because they love it too. Medium density housing would ruin this. The roads cannot deal with more traffic, leaving Avalon and Newport to get anywhere is already fraught with traffic delays. This is s bad idea and I’m totally against it.

Jak Rees (Palm Beach, 2021-03-06)

#302

Our street (Kevin Ave) is already impossible to get out of in the mornings. Parking in the street for visitors is impossible! We moved to Avalon to get away from high density living.

Sophie Melton (Avalon, 2021-03-06)

#303

Inappropriate development for the area and will significantly increase congestion.

Penny Collins (Avalon, 2021-03-06)

#304

I'm signing this petition because this proposal is completely inappropriate. This is a low density residential neighborhood and already serves as an important community hub for both Avalon and nearby Pittwater/Beach suburbs and visitors. It has limited road access in and out and is already under considerable pressure in summer, weekend and holiday periods, and would face unprecedented congestion, disruption and threaten the sensitive environmental nature and balance of this area. This will impact both the local community and visitors alike. I call on Northern Beaches to completely withdraw this proposal and listen to our community who completely reject this proposal.

Doug Maher (Palm Beach, 2021-03-07)

#305

I'm signing this petition and strongly object to this proposal. This is not appropriate to this sensitive environment area. There are a number of factors including current amenity for residents and visitors alike, bushland, native animals and the fragile nature of this residential and community hub, with limited access into and out of this peninsular area. Increased density zoning is not appropriate for Avalon or Newport.

Mark Switzer (Palm Beach, 2021-03-07)

#308

I am sick of local councils in sydney being in league with greedy developers when the concerns of local residents are ignored or put in the too hard basket. Salaries of bureaucrats/managers at council are absurdly high and should be halved, with rates reduced.

Steve Jacobs (sydney, 2021-03-07)

#309

I oppose the proposed Apartment strategy and increasing Densities.

Leonor Gouldthorpe (sydney, 2021-03-07)

#310

I want to preserve the village character that currently denotes Avalon and Newport and don't want to see the green credentials of these places ruined by large scale tree removal.

Robert Mackinnon (Palm Beach, 2021-03-07)

#313

We have no parking no hospital no ambulance all doctors are full no more patients one skinny road to access

Claudia Hall (Avalon, 2021-03-07)

#314

I live in the area and I’m horrified at our area being ruined. The greedy developers will be the only ones who benefit as new builds will NOT be affordable. We do not have the infrastructure for all these extra people. Our hospital is too far away. And finally why have they uncapped the noise limits for construction so that they can ruin the peace on weekends and public holidays?

Emma Capell (Church Point , 2021-03-07)

#316

I do not believe Avalon, Newport and Mona Vale can support further development.

Dimity MacDonald (Sydney , 2021-03-08)

#317

We cannot fit anymore people here the school is bursting no parking way to much traffic!

Sharee Chamberlain (Avalon, 2021-03-08)

#318

this state policy will damage +change the avalon environment as we know it and wont provide the cheap diversity for young families and aged as it purports.
DP

david poppleton (avalon, 2021-03-08)

#319

Avalon is not set up for medium density housing as it does not have the facilities to cater for this outside of the new accommodation . There is essentially one road in and out which is already constricted with traffic on the weekends. There is no way of accessing fast and reliable public transport option to support this measure either.

Kara Egerton (Sydney , 2021-03-09)

#320

This type of housing will destroy the natural environment and animal habitates already in trouble, it will overpopulate the area, The area has a unique community feel which will be forever gone. Roads and infastructure needed to service the increase will destroynot inhance.

Cecile Barratt-Thompson (Frenchs Forest, 2021-03-09)

#321

We already have reached maximum population in Avalon

peter anderson (avaoln beach, 2021-03-10)

#322

I’m signing this petition as someone who was born here and raised my children. I was fortunate enough to see koala bears whilst walking to school and felt the protection of a close knit community. I understand people’s desire to live in ‘paradise’ however our infrastructure and ecology cannot support this level of high density.

Katrina Welch (Avalon, 2021-03-11)

#323

I’m signing because I don’t believe we have the infrastructure to support such a development in terms of the village or the one lane road particularly The
Bends area.

Deborah Kaldor (Avalon Beach , 2021-03-12)

#324

I don’t believe this idea will help young people in our area. We don’t have the infrastructure for the people who are already here, we don’t even have a local hospital anymore. Our roads are already congested we don’t need anymore housing in the area.

Lisette Calleja (Avalon Beach Sydney , 2021-03-12)

#327

I’m signing because the present state government & Northern Beaches Council are following the developers needs , not their community . We don’t hear about these changes until it is necessary to save our environment or unique transport !

Jennifer Hall (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-14)

#328

It will destroy the character of this area and the infrastructure will not support increased density.

David Lemmon (Sydney, 2021-03-14)

#329

The area is not sustainable to support either medium and or high-density housing. The infrastructure, local amenities and geographical location just doesn't support it.

Hamish Dwight (AVALON BEACH, 2021-03-15)

#330

Do not degrade our unique local environment, protect its character for locals and visitors alike

Elizabeth Robertson (Bilgola Plateau, 2021-03-15)

#334

Michelle Porter

Michelle Porter (Avalon, 2021-03-16)

#339

I am sure going because I am strongly opposed to over development and the proposal for medium density housing from Palm Beach to Dee Why . We are lucky to have one of the most beautiful areas in Australia ! Let’s preserve it for future generations and not have another situation like DeeWhy which has been overdeveloped.

Margaret Owens (Narrabeen , 2021-03-17)

#342

Over congestion of people plus so much traffic already
No police station or hospital within a 10 km radius

Sharyn Berry (Avalon , 2021-03-18)

#343

I prefer ro see Avalon stay the way it is

Tracey Benoliel (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-18)

#344

How can we entertain the idea of an increased population without addressing the existing problems of over-crowded schools, traffic crid-lock, shortages of sports fields and open space, closure of our local hospital, and the potential closure of Mona Vale Police station.

David Murray (MONA VALE, 2021-03-19)

#346

We don’t want the size or height of the buildings in Avalon to be increased or flats built for affordable housing and an increase in SEPP5 resulting in a different atmosphere in the village, destruction of more trees and houses and could be affordable if the developers stopped building on these sites.
We live here because it’s a small village, great community and beautiful landscape.
Once again people move into an area that they supposedly love and then try to change its ambiance.

Verity Austin (Avalon Beach , 2021-03-21)

#349

We must protect the unique natural environment of Pittwater. Our area is already unable to cope with the traffic and demands of the current population.

Edna Blanchard (Church Point, 2021-03-21)

#352

Avalon is loved & known as a village.
Keep it this way please

Helen Davis (Church Point, 2021-03-21)

#355

I’m signing because Pittwater Peninsula is a Unique coastal environment, one of the least
changed, best protected areas of any urban area on the Australian coast. It must be preserves for the sake of the environment and future generations of Australians.

Phillipa le Roux (Bayview, 2021-03-22)

#357

The Pittwater Penninsula should be protected from overdevelop as it's a unique part of Australia. Hundred of thousands of tourists who come to Australia will visit this area.

Anna Monticelli (Sydney, 2021-03-29)

#359

The proposed changes are incompatible with the local environment. I totally agree with the points made in David Popelton’s excellent submission

Nicholas Hart (Bilgola Plateau , 2021-04-07)

#361

The application of a one size fits all policy to areas that are so diverse is lazy and in this case destructive. The infrastructure simply doesn't exist to support this in Avalon. An obvious example is the increase in traffic this would inevitably bring. How will that go?

Matt Lumsdaine (Avalon , 2021-04-08)

#365

I moved to the NB due to the environment which I would hate to see degraded.

Craig Burnard (Bayview, 2021-04-22)
