Comments

#202

We need to protect this area.

deborah cullen (Caernarfon, 2021-02-28)

#213

Having a caravan near by I believe that to reduce the natural beauty of Penrhos and the wildlife would be a retrograde step for both locals and visitors

Alan Taylor (Wrexham, 2021-02-28)

#215

I'm signing because its democratic to try and change the rules to disturb nature at it's best. It only makes the rich even richer at the expense of the general community

Steve Charlton (Old colwyn , 2021-02-28)

#217

I am signing because this is a place of natural beauty for all. It is an area of dense forestry when there is so little in Anglesey , it is home to rare animals a d birds and should not be ravaged by money makers to allow the few to enjoy instead of all . Please STOP this happening

Peta Tucker (Cheadle, 2021-02-28)

#218

We need to retain the natural beauty of the nature reserve for the wildlife and the local people

Marion Williams (Anglesey, 2021-02-28)

#221

I have family connections to Anglesey and wish to to see it protected from unecessary development that damages the unique character of Ynys Mon

Warren Goodall (Halifax, 2021-02-28)

#224

All planning policies should be transparent and available to view. Keeping them out of public sight is wrong and needs stopping.
How can you object to planning applications when you can't see planning policies!
The Oenfhis Nature Park must not be list through obfuscation and hidden policy documents.

Felicite Helen Kennett (Norwich, 2021-02-28)

#225

This is Holyheads only woodland available to locals.. and it's full of endangered wildlife .. fabulous fauna.. and birds.. it has been used by locals since I can remember 1960 the first time I was there.. ashes of hundreds of people's relatives are scattered there too.. it's Holyheads special place.

Pat Prile (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#226

My family and I visited the park often when We lived in wales. It is such a beautiful place and an important resource for exercise and mental health. Plus it is an important very rare site for the red squirrel.

Lita Miller (Dover, 2021-02-28)

#230

I feel , like many others that the council and the developers have seriously underestimated the depth of feeling that is felt about these plans. At a time When RSPB South stack as been basically closed off to local people due to their excessive charges, this is one of the few places on the island where predominantly local people can relax.

C Bostock (Trearddur bay, 2021-02-28)

#233

The planning needs reviewing and independent environmental surveys carried out, to destroy the woodland would go against WG woodlands priority to plant trees to help the environment and reduce carbon. It would also destroy a well used outdoor amenity for the people of Holyhead, Anglesey and its visitors. It is also one of the few area of woodland and fully accessible to people with mobility difficulties so should be protected by the Council.

Carolyn Williams (Amlwch , 2021-02-28)

#234

Penrhos is a beautiful nature reserve that should not be spoilt and taken from us and the future generations to explore and use for walking and family time.

Nicola Campbell (Trearddur Bay, 2021-02-28)

#240

I'm signing this because my family has been enjoying Penhros for over 60 yrs. There's not many places that hold such beauty as this place

Linda Harrison (Wilmsliw, 2021-02-28)

#241

Its a disgrace taking the only woodland area from the wildlife and the beautiful walks for the people of Holyhead and the holiday makers that come to visit.

Linda Mulligan (Anglesey, 2021-02-28)

#243

Penrhos is unique - please don’t destroy it!

Barbara Thomson (Amlwch, Anglesey, 2021-02-28)

#244

This beautiful piece of paradise cannot be lost forever to the 1000’s of families that use it and treasure it! And the endangered red squirrels that live there peacefully along with the birds and other creatures that call it home.

Amanda Wild (Craven Arms, 2021-02-28)

#246

I love the Penrhos nature reserve and would like it to be around for future generations to enjoy too

Ann Wilks (Gwernaffield, Mold, 2021-02-28)

#252

This piece of nature is too important to lose, not to mention how much it means to local residents.

Jennifer Baugh (Wolverhampton, 2021-02-28)

#256

We need to actively protect our nature reserves

Michael Christodoulides (Saffron Walden , 2021-02-28)

#258

I’m a local who loves the park. I’ve grown up using it, going on walks and enjoying the beaches. I think it’s disgusting that the county council have sold this land off as a cheap money making ploy. The local environmental and ecological impacts will be huge, especially on the rare red squirrel population which live in the park, in the hope of a few hundred jobs to be made. This park has important environmental and educational role to play for the local people. It seems a mighty shame to further disadvantage local people in the hope to appease wealthier holiday makers.

Kate Williams (Holyhead , 2021-02-28)

#259

Why would anyone want to destroy a beautiful, peaceful and scenic area of Anglesey. Please save this majestic area along with all God’s creatures who call the area their home and habitat.

Kathy Taylor (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#260

We need to save Penrhos coastal park. It is very important to let nature thrive there, the council should consider Holyhead residents opinions and the red squirrels should be allowed to continue to thrive in a safe environment.

Rowena Jones (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#267

I am disappointed and angry that beautiful Penrhos is going to have a holiday village built on it. I don't understand how such a beautiful place with trees, flowers and many animals can be destroyed to create somewhere for people to come to enjoy Anglesey. It just doesn't make sense.
Penrhos Nature Reserve ( clue in the title) is enjoyed by locals and visitors. How can the council agree with this development when it has been recognised how important green areas are to people's mental health?
I thought Red Squirrels were protected?

Lesley Griffiths (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#268

Trees before profits!

Jane Jones (London, 2021-02-28)

#274

This is desecration of a beautiful forest and the inialation of animals

Ann Sperry (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#276

This application was submitted to incorporate 3 areas for development and was related to the housing of Wylfa B contractors. It is also 8yrs since it was approved in principle and therefore should be revisited. Losing Penrhos, our only woodland for miles will be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the local community and just isn't needed. It will cripple a vast amount of local businesses such as the caravan parks, B&Bs etc....the creation of the so called jobs they promise will be outweighed by the loss of self employed business owners and the staff they employ. This application NEEDS revisiting by a competent SQEP individual within the council ASAP!

Nicole Queen (Anglesey, 2021-02-28)

#278

This is a place of natursl beauty and should 'be left as it is for the sake of all the animals that'll be and thrive here . There are plants and trees that have been here for generations . Please don't allow this wonderful place to be destroyed purely for human greed ..let it be enjoyed by future generations .

Mike Ringrose (Cheshire, 2021-02-28)

#284

It is really important for everyone to know exactly what had been approved and what further approval is being requested.

Jan Joseph (Bryngwran , 2021-02-28)

#286

Nature will die, history will die! It can’t go

Keane Redman Webster (Holyhead , 2021-02-28)

#287

This area should remain for people to enjoy in the future. It also supports flora, fauna & wildlife with it's natural habitat.

Susan Stapleton (Cheshire, 2021-02-28)

#290

The basis of the outline planning permission has changed significantly since it was granted. The granting of the original application by the local authoritiy based on the notion that worker accommodation for a new nuclear power station at Wylfa and the proposed section 106 obligations by the developer should be reconsidered.

Mark Bertorelli (Holyhead , 2021-02-28)

#305

I’m signing because there’s an abundance of nature at the site. It’s an amazingly beautiful place that’s loved by both animals and humans and goes back many, many years.

Hayley Ringrose (Stockport, 2021-02-28)

#307

We have a an area full of wildlife the only woodland walk with picnic areas and beach all in one in holyhead for the family to enjoy it is also a beautiful bike ride which will be gone if this goes ahead and not having full transparency to the area as I for one am concerned for our wildlife living there and losing access to this beautiful part of holyhead

Lisa Roberts (Holyhead , 2021-02-28)

#308

Lived in Anglesey always loved Penrhos Nature Reserve area and so it should be kept wild for future generations.
Leave well alone and enjoy it.

Emma Stockdale (Manchester , 2021-02-28)

#309

it is outrageous that this development should be allowed

Linda jones (valley, 2021-02-28)

#310

Insufficient consideration of other options recently made available

Jonathan Dean (Llanerchymedd , 2021-02-28)

#321

I used to live there and it's a beautiful place that needs to be looked after.

Sarah Brewin (Maidenhead, 2021-02-28)

#323

I give my full support to this petition and ask the council to review their approval of the Land and Lakes development at Penrhos. There are many reasons why this application is unsustainable in the current environment. The infrastructure on Ynys Cybi cannot sustain such a huge development. It is marketed as an eco resort and yet countless trees and habitats for some rare and endangered species will be lost due to the destruction of the woodland. Once gone it would take decades to recover and regain its full biodiversity if ever! This is alone contravenes the councils Biodiversity Agenda.
This development is proposing it will bring a number of jobs to holyhead but i fear it will put a burden on and possibly force local family run businesses
involving accommodation to close therefore having a negative effect on the economy involving local businesses. Please reconsider this application.

Bethan Jones (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#325

Penrhos is the only wooded area locally and it’s a crucial space for precious wildlife and local people. Red squirrels , badgers, green gym, dog walkers, safe area for kids to roam. Save Penrhos for local people and wildlife.

Caroline Bateson (Holyhead , 2021-02-28)

#330

I am signing because I cannot bear to see this beautiful nature reserve destroyed. A campsite can be built anywhere. Disgusting that these plans were ever passed. I smell a rat.

Julie Scarff (Llannerch-y-medd, 2021-02-28)

#336

It is not needed there.

Anna Palmer (Fife, 2021-02-28)

#338

I have been coming to Wales since I was a child & have seen it change over the years. I now have children of my own & would like them to enjoy the memories I had while growing up. It is such a wonderful place to go on the island & it would be a shame to see this happen to nature!

Sarah Fernandez (Southport, 2021-02-28)

#341

I have visited many times for many years, it’s beautiful & deserves to stay that way!

Heather Henry (Ruthin, 2021-02-28)

#342

There is a need for transparency in all planning applications. All relevant documentation should be available to the public. Our natural resources should be a priority against all developments on the island.

Wendy Pugh (Llannerch-Y-Medd, 2021-02-28)

#344

This nature reserve is the main reason I go to Ynys Môn. It would be disgusting to allow any development at all.

Paul Evans (Mold, 2021-02-28)

#351

It is so
Important to keep this natural area of outstanding beauty alone as was intended. This is the home to so many varieties of wildlife who would appreciate not losing their homes and natural habitat. They want to live too. Holyhead and the surrounding areas just love this place with all their hearts.

Joanne Taylor (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#352

If the proposed development of Penrhos goes ahead it would be an absolute disgrace on so many counts. A development of this kind would have little regard for the floral and fauna (whatever they say they will do in their manifesto), particularly if something is in the way of a particular planning proposal. It goes against ALL the current thoughts on promoting a sustainable and environmentally sustainable future. Penrhos is a jewel of (managed) wilderness open and available to all abilities from mums with toddlers, wheelchairs, runners, cyclists and walkers. Bird watchers, families with buckets and spades, elderly people and teenagers. The appeal is huge! There are so few spaces like Penrhos with it's wonderful, quirky tranquility. It is heartbreaking to think it will be offered back to us, pared down, sanitised and restricted, whilst the plastic mini city that is bluestone will destroy so much valuable wildlife.
Please look at this again and make everything open and transparent.
Thank you.

Gillian Billing (Llandegfan, 2021-02-28)

#354

We’re loosing far too much woodland across the UK and this plan for yet another holiday park on a small island which already has more than its fair share of this sort of thing is bound to further impact the quality of the environment.

Andy Pearson (Bristol, 2021-02-28)

#356

The UK government and the Senedd have declared a Climate Emergency. If this is to mean anything then you must stop acting as though there was no emergency. We cannot continue to lose natural spaces, nature reserves for us to share. To allow this place to become a private resort for rich people is just wrong and to allow the destruction of trees and other habitats for the construction of this resort is criminal.

Rich Snaith (Conwy, 2021-02-28)

#361

Planning permission should never have been granted, and was obtained by threatening the council with massive legal charges.

Tony McNicholl (Trearddur Bay, 2021-02-28)

#366

I was born and bred in Four-Mile-Bridge and spent a lot of my youth here, its disgusting why people dont recognise it as a Nature Reserve.

Glenys Williams (Pontypridd, 2021-02-28)

#368

We need to preserve nature, especially now!

Debra Atherton (Anglesey , 2021-02-28)

#369

There is no need for a holiday park .....It was originally destined to be an accommodation block for Wylfa B.

Alun Jones (Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, 2021-02-28)

#372

Penrhos Country Park is a thing of beauty and a haven for wildlife. It belongs to the people and to the fauna, not to profiteers and vandals

Mike Owen (Y Felinheli, 2021-02-28)

#375

I grew up in Holyhead, most of our school
holidays were spent at Penrhos nature reserve - I have taken my son since he was a baby. This oasis should be left as it is to benefit the local people and visitors alike.

Melanie Goy (Lincoln, 2021-02-28)

#377

Penrhos is too important ecologically to become a holiday camp.

Johanna McNicholl (Leicester , 2021-02-28)

#382

A Griffiths

Alan Griffiths (Holyhead , 2021-02-28)

#385

I have visited Penrhos nature park and I am appalled that you are so short sighted not to recognise what an asset it is to Anglesey. In 2016 the UK was named as being one of the worst countries in the world for lack of bio diversity. Since then the situation has deteriorated further. I will certainly not holiday in Anglesey if this wonderful oasis of nature is allowed to be destroyed.

Janet McKeag (Leire, 2021-02-28)

#387

Penrhos is a beautiful old woodland full of wildlife, red squirrels, rare flowers and insects, otters it is a relaxing and tranquil place to walk and be next to Nature which the community needs and loves. Please do not destroy it I must say left alone for generations to come to enjoy.

Margaret Towers (HOLYHEAD, Anglesey, 2021-02-28)

#388

This development should not go ahead as it will be destroying a wonderful habitat that will never be replaced. With so much emphasis on global warming and the necessity to plant lots of trees why on earth would you allow this desecration to take place.

Vivien Hughes (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#389

These beautiful areas with their abundance of nature must be left untouched for future generations

Colette HOLMES (Hemel Hempstead, 2021-02-28)

#391

I started my life on Mona. This woodland is heritage, it is a reserve and the protections previously bestowed should not be overthrown, especially not for a privately owned company whose aim is to profit from its decimation.

Laura Middlehurst (Kidderminster, 2021-02-28)

#392

My family have lived on Sîr Fôn for generations and this is going to destroy ond of the vital wildlife habitats on the island

Gwenda Mark (Aberteifi , 2021-02-28)

#393

It would be a crying shame if this beautiful nature reserve were allowed to be built on.

Dave Morgan (Pwllheli , 2021-02-28)

#396

We need ancient woodlands and the wildlife that inhabit them more than we need another holiday camp. Penrhos is a magical place that needs protecting

Irene Bibb (West Bromwich, 2021-02-28)

#397

Penrhos Nature Reserve is such a beautiful place of Outstanding natural Beauty , it means so much to me taking my grandchildren there , so that they can run free , be happy learn so much

Julieanne Murphy (Anglesey, 2021-02-28)

#400

I'm signing because I believe that we should be preserving what little countryside we have left, penrhos is a place of outstanding natural beauty and deserves to be kept this way. Not bulldozed down, the trees and natural habitat should be preserved not destroyed. It would be a travesty if this should come to pass, I understand that Anglesey are trying to encourage people with land to plant more trees to help protect the wildlife and aid the planet, so why destroy this park that has been here for hundreds of years .

Kerrie Cooksley (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)
