#52

I'm signing because I am feeling very unsafe as a woman specially when I am alone at night 2 to 3 nights per week; in day time when I need to go to the shops. The railway area us very untidy, fulthy & unsafe with the long grass and ruins. The ruines are hiding places for the criminals, it needs to be totally destroyed. The dark streets at night do not help at all. We need restoration very urgently.

Susan Louw (Germiston, 2021-03-27)

#54

I do not feel safe living near the railway line. I have witnessed far too many incidents of theft and transnet property used as a getaway route. Transnet property is unkempt affecting the aesthetics of Hazel Park. It's a clear indication of poor management of the property. As a result of poor management of the upkeep of transnet property, transgressors are taking full advantage of getting away with violent crimes as they know it is difficult to find them in a property that has become a wild bush.

Shazeyah Khan (Germiston , 2021-03-27)

Lynette Anderson (Germiston , 2021-03-27)

#62

I am signing this petition because I am wootied sick about the crime in our area. The crime has become worse as the railways and the their stations have are no longer used for commuting people. The criminals use the railway to do crime and to hide stolen goods. The 240 litres are always stolen as they are in the streets on the days on which garbage gets collected.

Smangele Matia (Lambton, 2021-03-27)

#64

Crime is on the rise.

I live in the area and have witnessed first hand the crime resulting from degradation of this railway line and station - the area is an eyesore and is sure to depreciate property values

Karen Grainger (Lambton Germiston, 2021-03-27)

#82

If they fail in their duty to provide security to the residents. The the residents require full rights to use firearms to protect what is theirs, without fear of prosecution.

I'm signing because we residents have had to vastly increase our home and personal security. Our street telephone cables have been stolen. I was attacked in my home, bound and robbed. The attacker escaped across the railway lines. The railway lines are open along our whole area, look disgusting. PRASA seem to have no self respect

Diane Frankleyne (Germiston, 2021-04-10)

#107

Our local stations are now a total disgrace and in their run down state have become the breading ground of all sorts of criminal activity.
As trains can no longer runon all the lines due to cable theft we will now be having the train lines being removed and then shacks being erected on the vacant space.
Something needs to be done Now.

Donald Bowler (Germiston , 2021-04-22)

#113

The safety of residents have been encroached on for too long now. Action must be taken.

Jean Ingram (Germiston , 2021-04-22)

#116

I live next to the railway line and the entire fence has been stolen. This makes it easier for criminals to get away. I feel it is unfair that I as a law abiding citizen that pays his taxes etc every month must be put at risk because of no commitment from the government in regards to maintenance.

Juan Slabber (Klippoortjie AH 1401, Germiston, 2021-04-22)

#147

I am signing because I am affected by crime in our area due to the negligence of PRASA.

Mpho Mashego (Germiston , 2021-04-22)

#149

PRASA has ignored maintenance of the fencing off of the secondary railway lines that go through the suburbs. Not only is this a danger to children’s safety that are tempted to play on or near the railway lines, there is a perfect opportunity for the bad guys to hide and observe people’s movements then attack and rob residents and escape across the lines or hide in the long grass. This cannot be allowed to continue. Residents safety is at risk.

Margaret Copeland (Germiston , 2021-04-22)

#153

It is an easy escape route for criminals. Think this is the main Eason for so many wheelie bins going missing. The bins are used to transport stolen goods. As residents living next to the railway line, we do not feel safe with the current situation

Marisa Wilcocks (Germiston, 2021-04-22)

Station is a dangerous place.
Not safe.
Not being maintained.
Unacceptable

Richard Eltringham (Lambton , 2021-04-23)

#162

I am signing because the amazing people I work with are in constant danger walking between the station and work. These people don’t commit crimes, they work hard for what they have. They spend the day trying to make the lives of children who have been brutalized by society a little easier to bear. And after an exhausting day have to fear a walk to the station? This is not acceptable.

Julie Blackburn (Germiston , 2021-04-23)

#163

To improve security to prevent criminals robbing houses and doing serious crime against persons such as assault, rape hijackings etc. and escaping through unfenced or broken fences along the rail lines.

Wannita Davis (Delmenville, 2021-04-23)

#177

The railway area creates a health and safety risk for property owners.
It leads to the decrease in property values.
