Our year 12’s have been through so much these last 2 years. These lockdowns are having a bigger effect on our youth than we see. Decreasing the work load will help the children stay motivated and help them a lot.Tinika Wildekamp (Watsonia north, 2021-07-22)

as a 2021 year 12 student, our situation is arguably harder than the class of 2020’s situation, as the year 12 curriculum is based off assumed knowledge of what we are meant to be taught in year 11, much of which was not properly taught or retained in 2020. yet we have been given no support in relation to the circumstances. this is affecting our mental health through the impossible expectation of having to stick to the regular timeline and study design of a normal year. something needs to be done.Baxter Stickland (Emerald VIC, 2021-07-22)

I am signing because the work load does not compliment the amount of stress we as year 12’s must endure, especially after having our entire year 11 disrupted.Ema Radjevic (melbourne, 2021-07-22)

I feel as if the VCAA needs to change the study design again because we keep going back into lockdowns and this will really affect how we learn as students.Noah Souery (Melbourne , 2021-07-22)

I’m signing because I’m currently is year 12 and as we are in lockdown, I am struggling to learn as it is distractive at home and unable to properly concentrate and we are rushing through context because we don’t have enough time to review everything that’s newMona Haddara (Melbourne, 2021-07-22)

I am a teacher and I strongly support my students in going through with this petition. These students also experienced COVID lockdown last year and are trying their hardest to catch up from last year still, let alone keep up with the content from this year.Methodically Methods (Shepparton, 2021-07-22)

Our Vce Students are at a crucialStage in their life and these lockdowns are having a detrimental impact on our next generation! Their education amd their opportunities will be deeply affected due to all these lockdowns. Face to face learning and having their peers around them is crucial
To learning. University choices will be limited if their ATAR score is low due to lockdowns. No one should expect a VCE student to achieve the same score for vce out of lockdown to this years lockdowns affected results. Kids are suffering even giving up. International students will
Come along with cash amd we all
Know that money talks. Out Australian young folks will miss out. The study design MUST be changed to assist these young people in achieving their study goals and meeting the criteria of their chosen field.

I am signing because the immense emotional pressure, interruption, still lagging adjustment to online learning has created a huge additional threshold to perform. We adults are suffering and the year 12 students, still being in their personal development phase are disadvantaged.

I heard a young man on radio 774 Melbourne talking about this issue and I totally agree that this years' VCE students need the pressure on them reduced. This should be a given and no argument about it, we are in a pandemic and exceptional times. Good luck to the students and well done.Kelly Kitchen (Melbourne, 2021-07-22)

These kids went through 2020 with 7 months of lockdown and now they are in and out lockdowns on top of that. How can they not be given extra consideration under these circumstances? Their mental health has already been impacted significantly and stresses and pressures need to be alleviated so they can have the best possible outcomes with regards to academics but more importantly their mental and emotional wellbeing.Janet Davies (Glen Waverley, 2021-07-22)

I’m signing this because I am a student in year 12 whose mental health has suffered severely throughout the past year and a half due to COVID-19, therefore impairing my ability to understanding the VCAA study design and content to my fullest ability. By amending it would benefit students confidence and resilience toward their education, of which I could only hope would be at the highest priority to VCAA as when are the achievers of their futuresOlivia Cadman (Melbourne , 2021-07-22)

As an ex students i feel it's up to all of us to point out the injustices in our education system we did not choose for coronavirus to happen so why should we have to let out kids suffer academically and force them straight into testsSeth Graham (Kyabram, 2021-07-22)

I’m a current year 12 who is suffering from the impact of covid on our learning both mentally and emotionally, and support the idea of having the study design altered, as we have suffered just as much if not worse than last years year 12s. They might have been in lockdown for a lot of their year, but our year keeps switching from online back to face to face and back online multiple times now, which makes it very difficult for our learning, not to mention in our most important, stressful, pressuring year of education.Maggie Carter (Apollo Bay, 2021-07-22)

It's inhuman to expect teenagers to undertake this level and range of studies in such a disrupted fashion. This system of examination is imperfect at the best of times. We are setting the kids up for mental illness.Maggie Morgan (Melbourne, 2021-07-22)

Because we as year 12s have had much more disruption this year, than the year 12s last year had. This is because we have been in and out of 3 lockdowns. Where as last year we were in 2 lockdowns but long ones so it was not as disruptive.Alicia Garrigos (Castlemaine, 2021-07-22)

Hey everyone, I'm not interested in arguing with anyone, but perhaps you would like a different perspective on the study design argument.I have dislexia, which for me means it takes physically longer for me to write notes, more energy to comprehend written material because I need to decode the squiggles, into letters into words in order to read the notes. These processes are fatiguing, so I try to seperate my home life from my school life in order to leave that stress at school.
Lockdown and remote learning means I have to merge the two worlds. It's increadibly stressful and being someone who puts alot of pressure on myself to work hard, I have collapsed almost everyday from anxiety surrounding the workload of VCE and the physically limits I face with Dyslexia. During last lockdown, I barely made it to recess before I shut down completely and was unable to complete full days of school for months. I am from a rural school and I, along with everyone else in regional victoria being pitted against students who have the most supportive, engaged teachers. It's already so hard to keep up, but now I'm struggling to get out of bed because I'm so anxious about remote learning.
I'm sure other neurodivergent students can relate. It's increadibly difficult to not get distracted my your surroundings, and when all of a sudden your routine and lifestyle is chucked out the window, it's immensly difficult to focuss on your studdies.
While every student has been effected by lockdown in someway, neurotypical students are generally able to adapt their coping strategies to different environments and situations. However, even regular brains are finding lockdown hard. The shorter study design doesn't negativly affect anybody, but knocking a few points off the study design puts less pressure on the students how are already fighting just to work at normal level.
The playing feild will still be even, just a little smaller and that wont hurt anyone...
