Stop the School Mask Mandate for Maine Catholic Schools!

I’m signing this petition because I firmly believe that what goes on a child’s body is the sole responsibility of the parent who cares for that child. No institution, government, or religious community has the authority to require my child to cover their face. My family and I reject this mask mandate.

I have three children 8, 7, and 5 at St Brigid school. This is our 6th year with the school. Masks should be optional.

My nieces and nephews attend a catholic school and I am worried about their mental and physical health being masked all day at school. It is cruel and unnecessary for children to be wearing masks.

Parents should have the rights to protect their children and their healthcare needs.

The decision to mask our children should be an independent one. The effects of children wearing masks is more detrimental than the actual virus. Asking our children to wear a muzzle all day with a lack of scientific evidence to support it working isn’t something that should be forced on young kids who need social interaction to develop.

Jack Tolan (South Portland, 2021-08-17)

I would like masks to be a parents choice not to be mandated. Kids need to breath fresh air for their brain development and social skills.
No to mandate on masks.

Victoria Johnson (Lewiston , 2021-08-18)

I don’t believe children should be required to wear masks in school.

As a parent and us citizen it’s my right to have freedom. Freedom of choice and freedom to speak up for myself. Freedom to stand up for my child’s rights , including wearing a mask on their god given faces .

There is no science behind mandating masks in school age children. They are the least at risk of ALL age groups.

This whole narrative is fake ! You have absolutely no Peer reviewed case studies that prove that mask work. Actually it is quite the opposite. You do not have my consent.

It’s a Catholic school and God will save them hahaha!

Our right as parents to choose what is safe for our children has been stripped from us due to this mandate. My own pediatrician has said the symptoms in a child are nothing more than cold like symptoms that last for a few days. Allowing people to have a choice to enter your churches to mask or not mask but taking that choice away in your schools is hypocritical, wrong and just confirms that no longer is common sense being used in this decision making. Please reconsider your decision and give us our freedoms back.

Stephanie St Laurent (Auburn, 2021-08-19)

Because making a child wear a mask is physical and emotional ABUSE!

Amy LeBlanc (Lewiston, 2021-08-19)

The actual facts do not warrant punishing our children by forcing them to wear masks. I view this as a form of abuse to children. If a parent feels the need to have their child wear a mask all day then let that be their choice but don't mandate that my child wear one.

I am signing this petition because I am responsible for making decisions for MY child! In the same way that I have chosen a Catholic Education for her!

I believe masks are harmful to healthy children and that it should be a parents choice to determine if their child should wear a mask.

Families deserve the CHOICE.

Greg Dumais (Auburn, 2021-08-20)

Mask wearing should be at the discretion of the individual/parent/guardian with no interference by government or institutions. In addition, incorrect use of masks leads to more chance of infection and transmission.

Linda McMahon (Harpswell, 2021-08-20)

With all kids needing the social interaction for their youth growth development it’s imperative that they do this with out mask restrictions. Seeing facial expressions and classroom instructions from mask less teachers will only better enhance their education.

Should be the parents choice, my son had severe asthma and last year was horrific and missed a ton of school unnecessarily! Please allow the parents to be responsible for their children!

It's time we end these unconstitutional mandates that have no medical value. Masks have been proven to provide no protection in many studies, but they get erased by the tech giants, the media and radical politicians, like our governor. Their only purpose is to control people.

I believe it should be up to the parents to decide if they want their children mast

I’m signing because I have 5 Grandkids going to St James Catholic school and science says they are not only not susceptible to Covid but they are also not spreaders!!! Therefore burn the masks or at most make them optional!!!

I’m signing this petition to fight against the tyranny and for health freedom in this great country we call home. No mandates for something scientifically proven to not be effective against the virus. Trust(use) the science.
