All Saints School Community for Optional Masks: Masks Should be a Parent Choice, not a School Choice

Comments

Masking children should be an individual family choice. These kids have been spending time together all summer (inside and outdoors), camps, sleepovers, etc. I pray that All Saints will provide transparency and data /evidence moving forward.

Masks don’t do anything, but muzzle children. As a Catholic institution, I pray you would promote faith instead of unnecessary fear.

Choosing to put masks on children (or not) should be left to the parents. It is a medical decision that can adversely affect their physical and mental health. They have been in camps, restaurants, stores and sports all summer without masks without anyone getting sick.

Masking should be a choice of a family or medical professional, not school administrators or a public safety committee. We believe it’s in our children’s best interest for their academic development to learn in an environment that provides them the freedom to be mask optional.

The data does not support masking children. There is significant evidence that masking children has detrimental psychological effects on children. Personal health choices are best made by parents.

Promoting use of a non-FDA approved, Emergency Use Authorized mask, is unwarranted and illegal. This mandate is in direct conflict with 21 U.S.C. Section 360bbb-3 (The FD&C Act), which requires the wearer to be informed of the option to refuse the wearing of such "device." Misrepresenting the use of a mask as being intended for antimicrobial or antiviral protection, and/or misrepresenting masks for use as infection prevention or reduction is a deceptive practice under the FTC. It is clear, there is no waiver of liability under deceptive practices, even under a state of emergency. As such, forcing children to wear masks, or similarly forcing use of any other non-FDA approved medical product without a child's (or the child's parental) consent, is illegal and immoral.

We’ve reached a point in the ongoing pandemic that personal choice is the best solution. Governor Dewine has even made this statement himself.

I want to decide for myself if my children should wear a mask.

Mask requirements are an overreach of government power and are unconstitutional.

With new evidence and data coming to light regarding the science, it has become ever more prevalent the requirement to wear a facial covering is not effective in stopping the spread of COVID-19. As such, the requirement to wear a face mask is overbroad and violates fundamental rights of the United States Constitution.

Masks have become a cruel device on young children. Gradual and subtle oxygen deprivation is worse for children while their bodies are still growing. Couple that with the psychological effects, it makes me sick that our choice as parents, in what we feel is medically best for our children, is being taken away.

I believe in my ability to make the right choice for my family

Like all parents, I want to be able to decide what I believe is best for my children. As a mother of a child with single sided deafness, these masks are detrimental to children with hearing difficulties and their ability to effectively communicate. Muffled voices and lack of ability to read lips makes it incredibly difficult. What difference will masks make in the classroom if they aren't masked at lunch, during extracurriculars or at Mass on Sundays?

I'm signing because I feel that the school indoor mask mandate is an overstepping of the school's responsibility. I feel that this decision should be made by each family independently.

I feel masks should be the parents choice

Amy Doran Cooper (Cincinnati, 2021-08-16)

I believe as parents we should make this decision for our children. We need to apply logic and consistency to the approach which I feel the current approach does not.

I believe that making a child wear a mask is abuse.

Stephanie Adkins (Loveland, 2021-08-16)

I love my nieces and nephews. They are my world and I don't want them to be abused in the name of wokeness

Kids don't need masks.

Forcing children to mask is wrong, uncomfortable, and pointless.

Vera Heverin (Cincinnati , 2021-08-16)

I think the masks do more harm than good for our kids. Also, this should be a parents choice.

Grandparents supporting our Grands and their parents’ wishes.

Mandatory masking is unnecessary fir children and quite frankly is child abuse. The filthy mask cause more problems than they prevent. Stop the madness!

Gregory Reddish (Cincinnati, 2021-08-17)

At this point in the “pandemic” we have enough information to allow individuals to choose to wear a mask or not.

The decision for the students to wear masks should be a healthcare choice parents make for their children. The church should not be mandating healthcare. Part of the reason we choose parochial education for our children is so we will have less public mandated umbrella rules from the government over the quality and content of our children’s education.

I believe it is the parents choice to mask their children. My son has issues wearing a mask and I don’t believe he should have to. I believe it is child abuse. Unmask our children!

I’m signing this petition because parents should have the right to decide what is ultimately best for their children. One of the primary reasons we chose All Saints was because of the culture, and the enhanced ability for our children to learn in a setting that is free from the typical distractions and bureaucracy that come with a large public district. This “mandate” is exactly the type of thing we were hoping to avoid when we made our choice. What makes it even worse, is that at least in a public district, someone can be held accountable & elected officials whom we disagree with, can ultimately be replaced. Unfortunately, we don’t have that option here. In lieu of an elected school board, all decisions of this nature should absolutely come with parental wishes being first & foremost in the decision making process, yet we were never asked for feedback nor given a forum to express our thoughts. Given those circumstances, we’ve been left with no other recourse and this petition is our only option. We all chose All Saints for different reasons, but ultimately I’m near certain one of the primary reasons for all, was that we felt like we could trust those in charge of caring & educating our children. Unfortunately, it now feels as though that trust has been damaged and we’re being left without a voice, so this petition is my way of working to rebuild that trust, and to get All Saints back to the premier experience we all signed up for.

This is an option for the parents not a mandate. The health of the children with a mask than without is a far greater concern.
