Diamond Beach Urbanization.

I’m signing because this DA is misleading and the process being followed is contrary to NSW State Planning processes. This DA cannot be approved prior to completing a valid LEP with proper community input.

Barbara Richardson (Diamond Beach 2430, 2021-08-18)

#2

I love our coastal village character and I care deeply about both the human and native animal populations

Kym Kilpatrick (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-18)

#3

I agree with every point listed in the petition. While some development is inevitable in the coming years, we cannot sacrifice the environment for developer profits.

Sandra Pertot (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-18)

#4

I am opposed to the development in its current form, and the way developers seem to be able to manipulate the rules by stealth.. This type of development is totally out of character with current dwellings in Diamond Beach.

Caroline Croxford (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-18)

#6

All the reasons in the petition!

Rachel Rumery (Diamond beach , 2021-08-18)

#12

I'm signing this because of all THE VERY valid concerns of this petition. I love the area that I live in and my friends the way it is.

Kim McMahon (Rainbow Flat , 2021-08-18)

#13

No room for all these townhouses

ALAN BARCLAY (APPIN, 2021-08-18)

#14

Our town does not have the resources to cope with this kind of urbanization. Lacking services including medical. Road conditions are dreadful with the traffic we already have.

Louise McConnachie (Hallidays Point, 2021-08-18)

#15

I do not support the development of townhouses in a tourist zone because houses are not permitted in this zone.

Warwick Maloney (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-18)

#16

I oppose the Greedy Property Developer driven over development of Diamond Beach, NSW.

Peter WARR (HALLIDAYS POINT, 2021-08-18)

#18

I'm signing because Diamond Beach Road has so many pot holes that it's ridiculous to even consider more traffic and construction trucks. There seems to be no reason for positioning more and more housing along coastal strips except for greed. First build the services and infrastructure and then put in more housing.

Kaye Matthews (Cobar, 2021-08-18)

#19

The area should remain tourism and should not be rezoned.

Kieren Hinchliffe (Diamond beach, 2021-08-18)

#21

I am very concerned about all this development in our Area. We have Just have one rd with one lane in/out & as recent fire & floods have shown this leaves the Area very vulnerable to an increased urbanisation. Also their is the environmental impact

Victoria Thompson (Halliday’s Point, 2021-08-18)

#22

Inappropriate proposal for this area.

Graham Taylor Taylor (Hallidays Point, 2021-08-18)

#24

I’m signing because the new development can pack up and go home,
One road in and one road out you won’t get lost

Cohen Watt (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-18)

#25

I LIVE HERE We are already at peak development. There is no other road in or out.
Traffic is awful now and roads are broken again

Lina Basile (Hallidays Point, 2021-08-18)

#26

Years ago, in the early 1980’s, plans/agreements were put in place to create green corridors, where the small village ‘feel’ of this area would be maintained. When considering the proposed developments driven by entities looking to make profits without any real care for the current community, it seems like
Council need to remember that we need to have a healthy balance between preserving this beautiful area of coastline, against that greed of developers looking to make $$$, with little care for the impact their developments will have on the local communities.

Mark Coleman (Red Head, 2021-08-18)

#28

I don't believe Developmental Applications should be submitted or considered for applications that do not comply with the current zoning.

Kathryn Kent (Red Head , 2021-08-18)

#29

I am concerned regarding the uncontrolled & inappropriate development in the Hallidays Point area

John Ford (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-18)

#32

MidCoast Council don’t seem to grasp the concept, consistently expressed by the community, that all development within the LGA should prioritise futuristic sustainable balance of energy efficiency incorporating sensitive development with adequate infrastructure to deal with increased populations and the protection of environment.

Katrina Pearson (Taree, 2021-08-18)

#34

My husband and I live very close by to the proposed development. It appears to me to be criminal to allow such a development in a bush fire prone area with very little escape. Council must seriously reconsider this development for the safety of those already residing in the area and the proposed residents. Not to mention the threat to already vulnerable species that nest there. I thought we were all about the environment. Medium density does not fit into that category.

Joady Marvell (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-18)

#36

I live in Diamond Beach and I am concerned that this development would be unsuitable as it appears to seek to by pass current zoning, it increases the fire danger as there’s one road in and out of Diamond Beach and there’s insufficient structure.

Narelle Williams (Diamond Beach , 2021-08-18)

#37

The land is not zoned for permanent residential use.

Russ Gray (DIAMOND BEACH, 2021-08-18)

#39

Developers need to leave places like diamond beach alone!!!! We don't need another apartment block we need our natural landscape to be preserved and nurtured!

PAMELA TOUGH (Tamworth, 2021-08-18)

#40

Lack of infrastructure, road network and quality of roads are appalling.
Much better placed in Taree or nabiac .

Rohan Knobbs (Red Head, 2021-08-18)

#41

The infrastructure is not keeping pace with the development.

Barbara Keir (Darawank, 2021-08-18)

#46

All of the reasons stated in the petition.
Another proposed development that disregards the local infrastructure, environment and amenity of the surrounding area.

Kerry Bromage (Tallwoods , 2021-08-18)

#51

Because it seems pretty obvious that the developer it’s trying to circumvent the legal framework designed to protect communities from unscrupulous developers, planners and councils. The 5-7 weeks a year where there is high demand for tourist accommodation is not sufficient to fill such a large development. Upon “realizing” that the tourist development is unsustainable, the council will “reluctantly” rezone the land to medium density residential to prevent the developer from suffering severe financial stress by allowing him to realise a massive financial windfall. Or that’s what it looks like from the outside. Maybe both the developer and the council have no idea that our tourist season is less than 2 months a year, and hopefully this petition will alert them to that fact.

Trent Maier (Forster, 2021-08-18)

#52

The plan is not in accordance with the current council guidelines

McMahon Eddie (New South Wales, 2021-08-18)

#53

Not suitable for small village as Diamond Beach, lack of infrastructure and poor road conditions.

Malmur Galina (Diamond beach, 2021-08-18)

#54

This type of development is the path to destroying the character and integrity of coastal villages. It is a very dodgy and sneaky process at best. Current development does take into consideration environment destruction and the loss of the lifestyle which attracts people to this area. Naturally there is little thought given to the infrastructure required to support this proposed population growth and density.

Judith Conning (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-18)

#59

not enough infrastructure for the area council refuses to spend any real money out here and seems to just want to keep collecting rates without any improvement to the area

Sean Coleman (Hallidays Point , 2021-08-18)

#61

Moving to Hallidays Point and concerned about the issues of safety in the isolated location re bushfire, traffic and overdevelopment.

Pamela Bennett (Taree, 2021-08-18)

#63

I'm signing because I live in this area and there is no way our roads, for one, could possibly handle this many extra people. There is basically only one way in and out and after the bushfires we had this would be catastrophic! We are a small beachside town and would like to keep it that way!

Maureen Smith (Diamond Beach , 2021-08-18)

#66

I am signing this because it will be developed and used contrary to existing planning law.

Petet Mitchell (Forster, 2021-08-19)

#67

This area is facing a huge amount of development with insufficient structures in place to accommodate the traffic increase associated with the developments. Basically there is only 1 road in & out & it’s is full of potholes & vehicles.

Rose Eshman (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-19)

#70

I believe there is too much development happening in this area all at once - our infrastructure including roads, egress in the event of fire or other emergency etc - a structured development plan for the area is necessary.

Graham HILL (Halliday’s Point, 2021-08-19)

#73

As a resident of the area since 1988 I take pride in our small beach village for it’s beauty and the peace that it offers.
The proposed development is too large for this area and will encroach on the residents that reside here by increasing the footprint on not only infrastructure but nature.

Lynda Merzlikoff (Diamond Beach 🏖, 2021-08-19)

#76

Many Habitat Trees on this site have been removed slowly over the past few years. There is no supporting infrastructure as in cycle ways etc. This development is not in line with a village theme. The lack of transparency on the environmental platform appears to be NIL. Does not abide by MCC Greening strategy or Environmental strategy proposed policies.

Kim Gollan (Blackhead, 2021-08-19)

#79

The roads aren’t in good enough condition to support more cars and it’s a fire zone with limited escape options expecially if we have that many more people.

Deborah Dickens (Red Head, 2021-08-19)

#84

The density of dwellings in Diamond Beach has been increasing exponentially, with little or no upgrades to the infrastructure. There is only one road in and out of Hallidays Point, which has the potential to cause a catastrophe during a natural disaster such as bushfire, earthquake os tsunami.

Rudi Pertot (DIAMOND BEACH, 2021-08-20)

#85

I am concerned about the impact on the environment, the residents and safety of people within the area in times of emergency. I believe the risk to people and the environment's safety and well-being far outweighs the monetary profit of the developers.

Leanne George (Karaak Flat, 2021-08-20)

#86

I am a resident of the area and our roads aren't up for any more traffic. We need another exit in case of emergency. Old Soldiers Rd not sufficient to carry traffic.

Julie Henry (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-20)

#88

I agree with the statements above.

Sandra Rowe (Hallidays Point, 2021-08-20)

#89

I strongly do NOT support the development of townhouses in a tourist zone as houses are not permitted in a tourist zone and definitely should NOT be permitted in our small coastal village. I also fully support all the objections listed in this petition with particular regards to our threatened and vulnerable species. Diamond Beach is so important to these animals and the proposed development does not support nor alleviate any environmental concerns for our area.

Elenore Romalis (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-20)

#91

I am signing this because I believe the concerns stated on this petition is justified and correct.

Darlene Jones (Hallidays Point, 2021-08-20)

#94

I think things have to be thought through fully. Before doing any development. There is so much traffic on the Diamond Beach Road now, developers have to be made to cover infrastructure of the surrounding areas.

Helen Routley (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-20)

#96

All of the above.

Ananda Kotinkaduwa (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-20)

#98

Diamond beach cannot support such a development. Our area cannot support the current population. We have no industry, retail or jobs here. The school is nearing capacity and will have to come high rise. The roads and infrastructure are in a state of dis repair. My comment stretches beyond this one development but to any medium density development in the area.

Sarah Stenning (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-21)

#100

I have deep concern for the sensitive nature of the flora & fauna in this area that will be removed by a Development of this nature especially when many of the species in this area are endangered or threatened

Denise Cohen (Hallidays Point, 2021-08-21)

#101

I support all the arguments put forward in this petition.

Bruce Gilroy (Tallwoods Village , 2021-08-21)

#102

This development is totally inappropriate for all the reasons cited in the petition.

Julia Gilroy (Tallwoods Village , 2021-08-21)

#104

As a wildlife carer living close to this proposed area, I am concerned about the destruction of habitat and environment that will take place for our native birds and animals, who already find it hard to find good real estate.

Gail Whitwell (Rainbow Flat, 2021-08-21)

#107

This development disregards the ecological fragility of the area. Environmentally sensitive areas are being cleared, shaved and backfilled with dirt. We need new regulations 100% guided by the climate crisis.

David Coyle (Diamond Beach, 2021-08-22)

#110

I am concerned about rapidly increasing population density in Hallidays Point without infrastructure to support it. Also the destruction of native habitat without thorough research and planning

Geraldine Kos (Redhead, 2021-08-23)

#111

I am very concerned about what is happening in our area

Robin Massey (Red Head, 2021-08-23)

#112

The current development does not appear to follow due process and is not appropriate for the area

Garry Cato (Red Head, 2021-08-23)

#116

It is important that developments are appropriate and consistent with the area and local zoning requirements and are not modified in a way that is inconsistent with good and appropriate planning guidelines.

Peter Brabant (Tallwoods Village, 2021-08-25)

#118

Urbanisation can’t be this rampant. Better planning is essential. Rate revenue does not bring peace and quiet. Koalas and wildlife need trees.

Marie Ange Lewis (Red Head, 2021-09-15)

#120

I’m signing because I believe Diamond Beach and the surrounding area should remain low density, embracing the current ambience as well as protecting those critically endangered species per the Federal Act of 2016 and the NSW Koala Plan.
