This is concerning and better needs to be done to serve the Bahamian people and tourists for that matter that could be potentially exposed to similar fates.

I'm signing because I am Long Island born and work in medical field. Every family Island should have the resources to give adequate healthcare. The family islands are strong and an community, give them the resources and it shall happen.

Danielle Knowles (Long Island, 2022-01-26)

I agree that the family islands should have these facilities as well as New Providence so that in any event an accident happens, injured people do not have to wait hours just to be cared for, and end up being failed like Manoli was. The family islands are apart of The Bahamas too and should include these things just as Nassau does.

Paige Wells (Nassau, 2022-01-26)

Emergency health care is not a luxury nor is it something that only cities should have. Our islands need it too. It is unconscionable that Family islanders have to depend on air lift to get the kind of emergency treatment Nassauvians take for granted. Change it this term.

Nicolette Bethel (Nassau, 2022-01-26)

The written petition says it all. No need to add. I have enjoy this beautiful island for 16 years. I have paid my taxes, supported all business, gave to various causes, and would do it all over again without a second thought. But, this tragedy is beyond any tragedy that has occurred on this island. I feel that Long Island is like a child without a parent. Left to fend on its own. In this day and age there is no reason why this island does not deserve the same care and attention as any of the islands on the Bahamian chain. Healthcare is paramount! This plea will be one which I will follow. And, it will be interesting to see the outcome.

I'm signing this petition because another death stemming from illness or injury, such as what occurred this past weekend, should not be repeated.
For too long, Bahamian citizens who live in the family Islands and who contribute to funding the government by paying exorbitant taxes have had their quality of life, health, and safety ignored.
We are now in the 21st century. It's time for the Bahamian government and its elected officials to prioritize the citizens. It is unconscionable that in 2022, the out isands
1. Don't have more than one doctor, if any at all.
2. Don't have preposition and on duty 24 /7 emergency care and evacuation transport either to Nassau or trauma center in South Florida.
Far too many Bahamians in the family Islands have died needlessly and all because the Bahamian government officials have reneged on the oath taken with hand on the Bible, and failed in their duties and responsibilities to the citizenry, to ensure in times of emergencies, the medical resources needed to stabilize, treat, and evacuate acutely ill and trauma patients, have been prioritized and put in place for when needed.

My cousin Amber constantakis lost her son Manoli recently in a car accident and a proper health facility or hospital could have saved her sons life.

Our Political leaders leaves much to be desired! The ambulance for Long Island seemed to have been a vote getting ploy! Just hear the ambulance is on the boat! A little too late! Our MP needs to be recalled! The road in the North is another trade guy! Let’s petition for it’s repair at the same time!

I'm signing because we as a people here on LGI deserve adequate health care through a properly equipped and functioning clinic/ facility. For far too long, has our Island Clinic been understaffed and its staff over worked. Left to operate with barely even the basic supplies and necessary equipment. Overwhelmed in the face of emergency situations knowing what is expected but not having the means to do what needs to be done, by the grace of God managing with the little they have to operate.
Our lives matter and everyone here deserves to have access to proper health care. It is not the tax paying citizens problem that the proper infrastructure is not in place and maintained. We should not have to foot the bill for a Medevac flight because the proper care is not afforded to us on our Island that is a part of this country. A flight though despite many pays for still does not arrive in time to save your life! Proper management and care should be given to this long ongoing situation that has affected many, greatly. Please do not continue to leave us out of sight and mind because our lives do matter. Our children matter.
Stop making excuses and start putting peoples lives, our lives, our children’s lives above everything else!

Every citizen on every Island of the Bahamas should have good and reliable access to health care benefits especially in case of emergencies. It is not fair that only the capital city,Nassau only has this advantage.

I have been on Long Island for nineteen years.....during that time, I can name the lives that could have been saved with emergency medical care. I understand that these services are costly., but, just last year, over $2,000,000 was spent in North Long Island on a wonderful (and unnecessary) road and bridge (lovely and unnecessary) when those funds could have been used to, simply said, save lives,.

Darcy Knowles (Long island, 2022-01-27)

I am in total agreement with Shannen.. We cannot play politics with peoples lives...A proper health care system should be top priority on any island. Just put ourselves in the shoes off these families who suffered this tragedy.
