Mr. Samuel Roundtree's Technical Theatre class was my introduction to the arts. Production, showrunning, lighting, cues, music, rehearsals, prop management, & most importantly time management, were all skills I learned from his teachings. He demanded a respect for the arts by the students first respecting their role in their own lives. The tools his course imparted on me paved the way for my future in professional photography, cinematic direction, film production, & scenario planning for the entertainment industry. Mr. Roundtree created an environment that genuinely put numerous African American creatives in place to succeed in the arts as well as life. My gratitude for his contribution to my chance to succeed is as undying as his spirit as a human being/mentor/leader/teacher.

Mr. Roundtree deserves this honor. His many years of dedication working with an at-risk population and introducing the arts to those children has been a true blessing. Seeing his work in the last 15+ years at Ruffner and Booker T has been a pleasure.

I’m signing this because Mr. Roundtree jumped started my dance career and lit the fire back into my passion without even knowing. I am an alumni of Granby High school but I spent the summer of 2005 training with Mr. Roundtree and he changed my life and experience. The dance group I was in at the time went on to win numerous competitions after having the pleasure of having the skill sharping techniques from Mr. Roundtree. Honoring him this way would be simply amazing ❤️
