It's not right for a Russian to be on the panel, given the circumstances in Ukraine.

Rob Shaw (Corby, 2023-01-05)

It's ridiculous to have a Russian as a representative on any democratic jury, panel or body in the free world.

Russia is a terrorist state. They support genocide of Ukrainians, spread hatred and destruction and as such, are not suitable people to judge children's literature. They have shown no respect for Ukrainian lives, culture, language etc.

I agree

The Russian invasion is wrong, barbaric, criminal and MUST be completely stopped and reversed! Putin must also face the International Courts and Russia must pay for the reconstruction of the Ukraine! I also want this ban extended to every single Russian NHL hockey player, not Canadian or US citizens. I want them sent home and barred from playing in the league today! It seems to be the ONLY League ignoring this terrible situation and it disgusts me as a Canadian!

As a person living in the village where Vincent van Gogh wad born, I fully support the reasons mensioned in this article. There is no place in art or in fact wherever, for a person representing a state with such a low level of humanity.

Tom Smits (Zundert , 2023-01-06)

It’s the right thing to do.

Russian representation should not be allowed in light of recent events.

Marty Gregory (Montreal, 2023-01-06)

There is no place for hate, lies and genocide in children's literature. A Russian representative should not be welcome.

The russians need to be in russia and kept there. Let them kill each other and not citizens of other countries.

Any supporter of russia's fascist war where civilians are being killed and genocide is being enacted cannot be responsible for awarding cultural prizes. Russia is actively targeting and bombing schools, libraries and museums.

Najmul Alam (London, 2023-01-06)

Representatives of Russian culture who support genocide in Ukraine or anywhere else have no place in famous international competitions.

Penny Lane (Fairfax, 2023-01-07)

Any support for this plundering and piracy goes against our advancement os a global society. Robbing countries to support an oligarchy and criminal elite is not appropriate in the 21st century.

Patrick Sweeney (Kuopio, 2023-01-07)

It is in appropriate to celebrate someone for children's literature when they support the rape and genocide of children.

Representatives of Russian state, which is recognized as state sponsor of terrorism in EU, should not participate in international awards

This person is biased towards Russian nazis that support genocide of Ukrainians. She should be removed from the jury as unfit to judge fairly.

While russians waging genocidal war against Ukraine, while russians kidnapping Ukrainian children, raping and torturing them, while they abducting and killing our writers and teachers, burning our books. IBBY choose a russian to be a president of the jury for children's literature award. What a hypocrisy. Moreover, she supports this war.

Yurii Mr (Kyiv, 2023-01-09)
