We need to keep cash as an option for payment everywhere. It is not only legal tender, it is our right to be able to choose how we want to pay. If everything goes digital then we are at the mercy of those who choose to control us. Cash is king!!!
Also, the whole covid thing has just become an excuse to bring in unnecessary digital plans...at no other time in history have we stopped cash payments for a “virus” and we needn’t start now.

Julie Eichmann (Avenell Heights, 2023-02-25)

Leigh Beaven (Atherton , 2023-02-25)

#448

Cash is legal tender issued by the government and the council is an arm of government, so it is idiotic that they won’t accept their own legal tender as payment.
Other forms of payment attract fees and charges that benefit third parties that are not part of the transaction.
Multiple choices of payment methods provide convenience to the customer and as the council is elected to support its constituents it should be doing everything it can to assist not hinder people.

Marc Higgins (Cairns, 2023-02-25)

#449

Cash is legal tender.

I believe it is important that all residents of Australia be able to use cash where ever payments are made, as it is legal tender and should never be refused.
Also, for children and elderly who don't have access to card payment systems, this is a form of descrimination.

Sharee Carton (Kuranda, 2023-02-25)

Every decision to remove cash as an option slowly erodes the use of cash from our society. It’s too important to have cash as an option for many people and we must protect its use at every turn.

Jon Neville (Bentley Park, 2023-02-25)

#534

I am an individual who likes to minimise their digital identity. I like my privacy. I also prefer that money stays in the councils pocket and for every digital transaction they are charged a fee from the banks. Paying by cash keeps the money local.

Max Murphy (Malanda , 2023-02-26)

#550

We should always have access to cash, how are you meant to teach kids the value of cash - multiplication if there is no cash.
We have the worst government in history

Elizabeth Webb (Cabarlah , 2023-02-26)

Emma-Lea Wirth (West Mackay, 2023-02-26)

#560

No entity should be given the opportunity to dictate how we procure goods and services. CRC employ more staff, upskill your admin to take cash. If people wish to use cash, then you need to accept cash.

Tessa Golding-Clarke (Julatten, 2023-02-26)

#561

We have a right to use OUR MONEY any way we want.

Popi Ginis (Douglas, 2023-02-26)

#563

Keeping cash alive is crucially important in all areas of society. The attempts to extinguish cash coincide with attempts to control and monitor ordinary working peoples spending which is unethical and will only lead to wide scale corruption. Cash is and should always be legal tender.

#578

Stop trying to move towards central bank digital currency

Cameron Reghenzani (Cairns , 2023-02-26)

#580

I believe that cash needs to remain a valid form of payment. Children and many of our elderly only work with cash. The thought of electronic payments scare many of our elderly. It is also very difficult to teach children the value of money and to budget when all they need to do is present a plastic card. Retaining cash as a valid form of payment allows people to build and retain their independence. Surely our government would want this.

Deb Johnstone (Trinity Beach, 2023-02-26)

#583

It is a concerning prospect that we will lose our right to conduct our day to day life and living the way we want it by being corralled into the world digital finances

Sorry but I like to reward my child with tooth fairy money, go to markets and garage sales paying with the hard cash I earn.
