Comments

#801

I’d like to keep cash an option in cairns cbd and public areas.

Georgina Morgan (Cairns, 2023-03-01)

#803

IT’s discrimination to only use cards instead of cash which is a legal tender. Cash must be available in all Cairns Regional Council premises for locals to use & pay by cash.

Karina Samperi (Edmonton, 2023-03-01)

#805

I don't want a cashless society

Nate Gibbs (Cairns , 2023-03-01)

#811

People need cash

Kasey Pell (Cairns , 2023-03-01)

#813

I want to have cash remaining circulated for the society.

Bernice Cooper (Cairns , 2023-03-01)

#814

I‘m singing because we need cash money because to keep our independence-that kids learn to handle money and even adults are spending otherwise too much money and they’ll be many in debts - because it’s easier for elder people- small businesses for example at the markets would be out of business otherwise - earning your first money as a kid - wouldn’t be so empowering otherwise, nothing beats holding your first money cash in your hands- only online money has the danger , that it’ll loose its value and there’s a higher inflation

Christiane Wagner (Trinity Beach, 2023-03-01)

#815

We want to pay cash as everyone dies not have credit cards . This gives corporations and the wealthy tax dodges so the poor have to pay a greater share

Margaret Sue Barstow (Wonga Beach, 2023-03-01)

#817

Cash is legal tender and it is ilegal to refuse .

Michael Sexton (Mareeba, 2023-03-01)

#818

I am against not using money

Michael Trout (Holloways Beach, 2023-03-01)

#822

Not everyone has credit card or a computer. We still have people in this world who pay cash for everything they buy.

Michele woods (Speewah, 2023-03-01)

#823

A cashless society terrifies me

Amanda Calway (Mt Molloy, 2023-03-01)

#824

In my local business I am loosing customers if I can't accept cash! I loose up to 2.6% in EFTPOS/credit card fees - this adds up and really hurts in the current economic climate. I'd risk loosing customers were I to pass on these fees - not an option. Cash is still king. I'd rather support local business (and Council!) by paying with cash, instead of the banks. Bring it back please!

Sabine Schroeder (Redlynch, 2023-03-01)

#825

Cash is a valid legal tender

Michelle Ryan (Trinity Park, 2023-03-01)

#826

I’ve had a gutfull of this crap paying by card.. I don’t always have money in the bank but I generally always have cash.. It’s an old law but hasn’t been abolished technically that you have to have a certain amount of cash at hand.. also the constitution that it’s an offence to refuse the Queen’s money.. although now King’s money.. cash is King and retains it’s value

Mick Miller (Cairns , 2023-03-01)

#827

Cash IS legal tender.

Silvia Mogorovich (Mooroobool, 2023-03-01)

#828

Cashless society excludeds many people from the general trade and binds the rest to a digital world with too much control over their lives...

Daniel Strydom (MAREEBA, 2023-03-01)

#829

Cash is part of our society and should not be removed by government. Legal tender is legal tender

Steve Wallin (Cairns , 2023-03-01)

#830

Cash is legal tender and as such we should be able to use it to pay for whatever we wish. Council has already made life difficult enough and is constantly reducing services whilst raising rates.

Paul Maxwell (Koah, 2023-03-01)

#831

Because I want to stay in control of my hard earned money. Not expect technology and banks to work properly when they often don't.

Margarita Gallego (Cairns, 2023-03-01)

#832

To bring cash back

Christy Harrison (Cairns , 2023-03-01)

#833

I'm signing because taking away people's right to choose is wrong and reasons given for the change are rediculous.

Vanetta Nunn-Pattrick (Mossman, 2023-03-01)

#835

Cash is an important part of society, if you don’t like don’t use it but many do and Cairns council has no right to remove legal tender from any and all facilities

Jessie Bowe (Kewarra Beach, 2023-03-01)

#837

I want cash to stay as an option in Cairns Regional Council facilities

Paul Savory (Cairns, 2023-03-01)

#840

Signing because not everyone has easy access to card payments or computers

Anne Mauger (Smithfield, 2023-03-01)

#844

I often need to send the apprentices to the dump and it is better for them if I can give them cash to pay.

Daniel Costigan (Cairns, 2023-03-02)

#849

Cash is legal tender, I do not use digital money or apps. I reserve the right to choose to pay in cash.

Fiona Fenton (Cairns, 2023-03-02)

#851

Commonsense dictates, cash is king.
Use it or lose & we definitely don’t want to lose.

Gayle Lowe (Cairns, 2023-03-02)

#852

Cash is legal tender and always vital to access especially for payments & purchases during emergencies like floods, cyclones & bushfires when all power is down rendering mobile phones, ATMs, EFTPOS and online services useless.

Nina Asikainen (Cairns, 2023-03-02)

#853

We need to use it or lose it.
I’d hate to lose cash forever.

Leanne Kear (Trinity Beach, 2023-03-02)

#854

Cash is legal tender so it has to be an option .

Darren Phillips (Cairns, 2023-03-02)

#856

I want a choice, I don’t want to be forced into going cashless.

SHARMAYNE MITCHELL (WOREE, 2023-03-02)

#857

There has been no consultation with the community and this action unfairly discriminates those people who do not have bank cards.

Ros Anderson (Cairns, 2023-03-03)

#859

Cash is important

Aleksandra Adamczyk (Westcourt, 2023-03-03)

#860

Cash is king .

Ruben Breuer (Koah, 2023-03-03)

#862

Because it is an important issue and I also believe this option should be available to those that prefer this method of payment.

Mark Bevan (Weipa, 2023-03-03)

#863

I’m signing this petition because cash is still legal tender and I do not consent to go just digital currency.
It is not an excuse to be blaming covid for this digital currency system.
This should be stopped now and discussed and should be voted on by referendum.
Not decided by council members who should not have the power to decide on this matter.
Thank you for your time

Mark Capp-Perucic (Melbourne , 2023-03-03)

#864

I agree that using cash us a better alternative to the card

Cassandra Vikionkorpi (Cairns, 2023-03-03)

#868

I believe the ability to pay with cash is still an integral service for the community and that Council needs to return this payment option throughout all their services across the region.

Jodie Emslie (Goldsborough, 2023-03-03)

#870

I'm a regular to cairns and looking at buying property there. I won't be if cairns council becomes cashless

KATHY-MARIE Nicholson (townsville, 2023-03-03)

Cash is legil tender, I wish to continue to use it.

Scott Mckowen (Cairns , 2023-03-03)

#872

Cash is essential, look at the chaos in NZ after the power was blacked out....
And pensioners etc have no visa facilities

Greg Boundy (Cairns, 2023-03-03)

#873

Cash is king!

Brenda Foley (Bayview Heights, 2023-03-03)

#874

I don't agree with going cashless and believe any form of payment should be accepted as currency when it is legal tender.

Chantelle Gundrum (Cairns , 2023-03-03)

#879

We have the right to use our money without being charged to use it ie... transaction fee

Tristan Barrett (Tolga, 2023-03-04)

#881

No-cash policies are deliberately exclusionary

Sue Mitchell (Cairns, 2023-03-04)

#892

As I pay cash for everything. I would be refused service at all council facilities.
Covid is no longer the risk it was, it is just a FLU. Therefore that excuse is flimsy at best.
In what society do we not like social interaction. We are social creatures!!!
As I don't frequent the library or other council facilities often I was not informed of this change. Therefore unable to protest this ridiculous decision. It would nice to be able to choose how I pay. I was interested in going to the night walk with a friend and her children at the Botanical Gardens. However, when I found I cannot pay cash I decided not to go.
I thought it was way to expensive anyway.
This is a totalitarian move on the council's part.
We know the World Economic Forum has a hand to play in this.
Oh, not to mention the George Soros Smart Cities initiative that Cairns Regional Council has signed up to.
Keep cash alive.

Michelle Durward (Cairns, 2023-03-06)

#895

I want to keep cash alive

Markus Tietze (Craignish , 2023-03-06)

Bob Down (Cairns, 2023-03-06)

#899

I have investment properties everywhere and this is a joke

Damon McClure (Townsville , 2023-03-06)

#901

I'm signing because cash is legal tender.
It's against the Australian Commonwealth Constitution to force Australians to use so called other banking services instead of cash.

Mavis Benkis (Yarrabilba , 2023-03-06)

#903

I'm signing this because I don't believe in a cashless society, I fear for the future moving forward.

Glen Darby (Bundaberg , 2023-03-06)

#904

I holiday frequently in the region and I only pay cash and refuse to carry my bank card due to being skimmed and losing a substantial amount of money.
Simply no cash=no business from me or my family

Ty Gear (Bundaberg , 2023-03-06)

#905

Cash is legal tender

Vernon Chessells (Fishery Falls , 2023-03-06)

#907

I have lived and worked in Cairns in the past and absolutely loved the way of life . These , and other councils Aust wide need to be reeled in and DO THE BIDDING of THE PEOPLE … THEY SERVE US !

Robert Benkis (Marsden, 2023-03-07)

#908

People deserve to have a choice to use cash or card anywhere they go.

Jacynta Hunt (Cooktown, 2023-03-07)

#909

I am signing this petition as I am extremely opposed to a no-cash policy in any organisation and especially at council facilities. Keep cash alive in our community is my motto.

Robbie Rourke (Cairns, 2023-03-07)

#910

I don't want my council to follow this

Carol Nelson (Cardwell , 2023-03-07)

#912

I’m signing because cash is what I mainly use these days and don’t always have my card with me. Councils arrogance in this matter is appalling.

Richard Van der spek (Cairns , 2023-03-07)

#913

Cash is KING. So long as we still have it as legitimate Australian currency, no one has the right to refuse the citizens of this country the use of legal tender!

David Robinson (Mackay, 2023-03-07)

#915

Cash is legal tender

Pepita Dougall (Cairns, 2023-03-07)

#916

Cash has always been the backbone of financial transactions. To eliminate this is a gross inconvenience for many people in our community. Our regional councils are elected by, and should be working for us the people. This move to cashless only seems like bullying, and bowing to the banks' and WEF's agendas. Please explain how this benefits anyone at all!

Andrew Zemek (Cairns , 2023-03-07)

#917

I pay with Cash. I use cash and its legal Tender.
I lose lots of my hard earned money in bank fees.

Mark Bona (Cairns , 2023-03-07)

Mandates, no jab no work, no cash..... what's next??

Michael Roussety (Woree, 2023-03-07)

#923

I believe there are too many people in our society who still use cash only to make this change.

Pauline Bradshaw (Westcourt, 2023-03-08)

#925

Cash is legal currency. Not everyone has a keycard, nor is everyone computer literate.

Annette Sheppard (Cairns, 2023-03-08)

#929

It's important we have choice, when the internet goes down at times, cards can't be processed. Also cash has been universal method of payment and helps maintain some miniscule amount of choice/freedom

Tracy Maynard (Cairns , 2023-03-09)

#931

We need to have the option to be able to pay with cash.

Debra Evans (Cairns, 2023-03-09)

#933

It is absolutely ridiculous, is a massive overeach and is discrimination against older people and people who don't trust banks, politicians and/or have technical knowledge.

Ricky Mead (Cairns, 2023-03-09)

#934

I want independence to spend money how I choose without being controlled by government influence.

Robert Taylor (Brisbane , 2023-03-09)

#936

Cairns people need their rights!!!

Jaimee-Lea Hockings (Baringa, 2023-03-09)

#937

Cash is a legal tender and we should have the option to use cash if we so choose to.

Erica Owens (Cairns, 2023-03-10)

#941

I don't approve of digital only payment

Josh Hutchinson (Cairns, 2023-03-10)

#943

Because cash is legal tender

Samantha Shield (CAIRNS, 2023-03-10)

#946

We need freedom and choice in how we spend our hard-earned money. Cash teaches numeracy. Children who never see cash will never develop a healthy appreciation and understanding of money. What of people with disabilities who like to buy little things when out shopping? Are they to be denied this? Or give up their autonomy and safety and get their carers to pay by card? Discrimination!

Tina Seaton ( Yorkeys Knob, 2023-03-11)

#947

I think creating a card only society is a very foolish move. I thought so even before the crisis in NZ when the power went down and people weren't able to buy their necessities because card readers and ATMs weren't working. Abolishing cash is a totally retrograde decision.

Mark Burton (Smithfield, 2023-03-11)

#951

I'm signing because I do not agree to a cashless society. Cash is king and technology is not reliable. I do not consent for my personal information to be sold to anyone or any entities. I have a right to keep my personal information private.

Anne Uelese (Cairns , 2023-03-12)

#954

I'm signing because people need to have a choice, not everyone wants to use a card to pay a few dollars for council facilities.

Sandra Workman (Cairns, 2023-03-12)

#955

It is a dangerous idea to get rid of cash. It serves only to make it easier for a corrupt system to control the masses. Keep Cash alive.

Rita Bruce (Atherton, 2023-03-12)

#956

There are too many technological scams these days. Cash not only helps give that extra bit of safety, but is also the original form of currency and our coins and notes are part of our Australian identity. If travellers come to visit us, cash is also helpful for them as AMEX is not available at every venue. That's how you lose customers. Simply, you don't need to pay surcharge if you're fine paying cash. With inflation and interest rates soaring high and only increasing, why do you need to steal more money from people who are already struggling to get by? A few cents and dollars saved from surcharges DO make a huge difference in savings.

Genesis U (Cairns, 2023-03-12)

#960

I’m signing because cash should always be allowed everywhere in whatever transaction it may be. It is a LEGAL tender.

Tracey Anderson (Whiterock , 2023-03-12)

#963

Customers should have a choice of payment options

Fiona Hill (Mt sheridan , 2023-03-12)

Victoria Goodman (Cairns, 2023-03-12)

#966

Cash is king.

Juliette Miller (Edge Hill, 2023-03-12)

#968

It is imperative that we keep the cash payments system .Especially with you are paying small amounts, it’s easier. Once cash has gone we won’t have that flexibility or freedom to choose our preferred payment method and what about if the eftpos is out of order, we are stuck .

Graham Harris (Cairns, 2023-03-12)

#970

Cash is legal tender. We do not want a cashless society! A digital society is a controlled society!

Karen Kaiser (White Rock , 2023-03-12)

#972

I Prefer cash

Bruce Currie (Bayview Heights, 2023-03-12)

#973

The Council's internal decision to enforce cashless transactions is a severe disadvantage to many Cairns people. We the people elect Councillors and the Mayor and we expect consultation and a voice on important matters that affect the lives of so many people. This decision is clearly in line with the Smart cities and WEF and a move towards digital currancy and ID which removes the privacy and the God given right of autonomy and freedom of choice of each member of the public. I object to the covert actions of Cairns Regional Council which manipulates and removes the rights of Cairns people and of their no consultation approach. This must stop.

Kerie Jackson (Cairns, 2023-03-12)

#974

I prefer cash

Naomi Currie (Cairns , 2023-03-12)

#979

Aside from hacking and privacy issues, just simple things like kids earning pocket money and taking away the freedoms of roadside vendors. Frightened by the closure of banks? Wait till you phone the bank and an outsource rep from Asia says you don't have an account.

Suzy Grinter (Cairns, 2023-03-13)

#981

Cash should not be removed from society.

Darrin Bettini (Mirriwinni , 2023-03-13)

#983

Cash should always be allowed for payment and settlement of debts. Not all are tech savvy or even want to use internet banking or cards. This is a freedom of choice issue and was decided by un-elected individuals. This should not be allowed.

Charles Brittain (WESTCOURT, 2023-03-13)

#985

I want to pay with cash

Drew Turner (Cairns, 2023-03-13)

#986

Having option is nessesary with my income

Neil Stevenson (WESTCOURT, 2023-03-13)

#987

Cash remains legal tender and as such it should not be legal to refuse to accept it.

Natasha Bauld (Earlville, 2023-03-13)

#989

i belive in freedom

andy edwards (noosa, 2023-03-13)

#991

Please keep cash acceptable.it is an important part of society. It is never, ever dependent on power supply and digitisation.

Donna Whiting (Ninderry , 2023-03-13)

#993

I am signing I am opposing no cash policy. We don't use credit cards anymore and will only use cash as a legal tender. Stop this illegal activity. We will counter sue and take legal action.

Elizabeth Goodman (Freshwater , 2023-03-13)

#994

I want the choice of how l pay. Also, l never gave you the right to approve card only. You never asked me for my opinion or approval.

Gary Woolrich (Holloways Beach, 2023-03-13)

#996

I don’t want a cashless society

Jade Falvo (Kuranda, 2023-03-13)
