GROSVENOR LANE CARPARK- COLES DA

Comments

I don't want to see big business have an overwhelming say in a community precinct.

Sanj Khaira (Neutral bay, 2023-05-03)

#4

I’m a resident and business owner and I don’t want Coles to use council land for their own gains. The Neutral Bay shopping precinct works because of the car park.

Halimah shams (Sydney, 2023-05-03)

#5

I support the small business in the area, who have not been consulted & whose businesses will be adversely affected by this development.

Carolyne Evans (Neutral Bay, 2023-05-03)

#6

I am an affected business owner in The Grove.

Matt Anderson (Tyagarah, 2023-05-03)

#8

It’s not reasonable to grant consent for public land to be used if that then affects those who’s business depends on that access with no consultation on the potential effects.

Louise Collier (Neutral Bay, 2023-05-03)

#9

Grosvenor Lane belongs to the people not to a corporation. This idea is detrimental to small businesses and to our community.
Neutral Bay will lose its villagey feel.

George Dimaris (Cremorne, 2023-05-03)

#11

I don’t want the local businesses to be disadvantaged

Samantha Laurie (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#13

I would like to continue to support and protect the local businesses I love and utilise every day.

Annie Schweikert (Neutral Bay, 2023-05-04)

#18

The small businesses impacted need to be consulted and a solution found so that they do not suffer whilst Coles benefits and continues to make super profits at the cost of small business operators

Sally Keller (Willoughby , 2023-05-04)

#21

I am concerned for the small businesses in the area. I park in the car park to access my dry cleaners and pharmacy

Marianthe Kafes (Davidson, 2023-05-04)

#22

I care about small business

Jacques Lategan (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#28

I want to protect small businesses in the precinct who continue to provide valuable and ongoing services to the community. There is no guarantee the proposed development would include these services by these providers.

Andrew Young (Neutral Bay, 2023-05-04)

#29

This will be destructive to the local community - it doesn’t make any sense to destroy many local businesses which are greatly valued and so much part of the community and essence of Neutral Bay.

Margaret McCauley (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#30

I’m signing because it would be such a disappointment to lose the small businesses in this area. There are already many large chain supermarkets in the area but only a small amount of important, well established small business services. Please don’t push them out so we can have a giant and unnecessary Coles instead.

Melissa Hume (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#31

Small businesses in NBay must be protected
No consultation is in democratic
We cannot believe Coles will beautify an already area

Elizabeth Hill (Syd, 2023-05-04)

#34

This is an outrageous and egregious misuse of Council powers and totally ignores the wishes of the community.

Graham Selkirk (North Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#36

This is my local dry cleaner & it’s conveniently located within the car park for drop off and pick up. Taking away the car park will significantly disadvantage this business - please don’t do it

Lynne Dobler (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#42

I use blue and white dry cleaner regularly. This proposal would make for difficult access to this small business as well as many others.

Brendan Bugner (Marsfield, 2023-05-04)

#43

This car park space is needed for all the public and small businesses in the local area

Trish Evans (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#45

I support the owners of small business in the Neutral Bay Area

Jason Roach (Mosman , 2023-05-04)

#46

Because the valued small independent businesses in the area need to be able to provide parking for their customers. Supermarkets have the option to deliver to their customers… these independent businesses do not. These businesses are a genuine part of the community… don’t make it impossible for them to trade successfully.

Karen Harmer (Pyrmont, 2023-05-04)

#47

Small businesses are the backbone of this country. Its not right that large corporate companies think they can do what they want and how they want without looking at community needs.

Matt Ferreira (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#48

I work within the vicinity of this and it will greatly affect all the small business of the area just like it is doing to all the poor small businesses in Artarmon with their ridiculous council upgrade… plus, we don’t need another Coles, there is already a Coles located just 250m from this location.

Zoey Cortese (Artarmon, 2023-05-04)

#50

I support small businesses

Michael Karris (Forestville, 2023-05-04)

#52

I’m concerned that small businesses are being ignored with regard to the decisions being made in and around Neutral Bay

Jason Crewes (Cremorne , 2023-05-04)

#53

Small businesses are important to the community

Jessica Sheinbar (Kirribilli , 2023-05-04)

#54

This is public land. Why destroy this village environment for the sake of another big supermarket. Councillors please stick to your jobs and consider your current ratepayers!

Susie Parker (Paddington , 2023-05-04)

#55

Because I want to protect what we have enjoyed since time immemorial.
Also I want to stand up for the small operations like Blue & White dry cleaners who work their guts out to fulfil their responsibilities and passion. We just want truth and justice in the Australian way. We do t want to see these big bully boys screwing decent people over

Peter Reedman LREA (rtd) (North Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#57

I do not want a high rise in Neutral Bay it needs to remain a village and Blue and White is an integral part of our village

Julia Maclean (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#60

It is wrong to force small businesses out of business without a thorough consultation. The area gains a great deal from independent traders, as consumers and residents we need more choice and variety not to be dictated to by a duopoly

Richard Sharp (Neutral bay , 2023-05-04)

#61

As a regular shopper in Neutral Bay, I would hate to lose the village shopping atmosphere and easy parking in the area that now constitutes Grosvenor Lane carpark. I mostly shop in the small shops in the immediate area. I will probably stop shopping in Neutral Bay if I lose this convenience. The chemists, coffee shops, dry cleaners and food shops are important to that area. The commercial block that will replace them if Coles takes over is a loss of community atmosphere and convenience. Neutral Bay is already losing its village appeal. I would hate it to further deteriorate.

Kerry Heubel (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#63

I go Blue and White plus Chaos plus Blonde avenue plus bookstore

Fred Nadjarian (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#64

To support small business. Not fair that you allow big chain companies to swallow small business. I thought this country/politicians supported small business. Clearly not, money talks.

Steven G (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#65

I’m signing because I do not believe this proposal is in the interests of local Neutral Bay businesses nor local homeowners. I shop in NB once or twice every week and need somewhere to park. Please do not do this.

Lindy Ferris (Mosman, 2023-05-04)

#66

The best drycleaner by far is here. I travel here despite living on the other side of the Bridge. This development will affect their business. Secondly, your area is prized because it has a village atmosphere. That should not be discarded for the sake of one big and powerful company. Developments like this force a change to the way we live. Street shopping and above ground parking areas are more in harmony with a quality of life aspired to by humans all over the world where climate permits. This will change that experience permanently.

Mary Kostakidis (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#67

There needs to be proper consultation with all thr small businesses that we, in the community, rely on so much.

Rani Bowler (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#68

I want to support blue and white drycleaners and small businesses

Angela Burns (Nsw, 2023-05-04)

#70

We don’t need a plaza.
We need the car park with easy access to the local shops that we use everyday.
I fear all the small business that I use regularly will go out of business just because of North Sydney Council greed.
Shame on you North Sydney Council.

Adriana De Flumeri (Neutral Bay, 2023-05-04)

#71

Small businesses have a right to consultation and in this case they have been ignored. Small businesses also help to create the sense of community which is essential to protect. Large corporations and indeed Council need to understand not every community want to be “taken over” by their presence. For once, could the community’s concerns be heeded.

Diane Sturrock (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#73

I am supporting the small business and also
The destruction you are doing to this gadigal land

Elaine Walker (Mosman , 2023-05-04)

#76

I rely on this dry cleaning business, they provide an excellent service. It is close to my office and the staff are very professional.

Deborah Horton (Collaroy , 2023-05-04)

#79

I think it is disgraceful that North Sydney Council are handing over the Council carpark to a private company to rebuilt or redevelop into further parking. Why not build under the existing Woolworths & just upgrade the current carpark. This will affect many small businesses that operate in the area & service the community. It will also impact the many people that work at these businesses and rely on this work to survive & support their families.

Brent Jones (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#80

We need to maintain the village feel of Neutral Bay.
Small business is key to our area, they have been part of our community for over 30 years. We don’t need a large entity to crush small business, they provide a service we have had for many years!

Katina Janakis (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#81

Supporting local small businesses..

Ekaterina Danko (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#82

There is a need in this location for a quality dry cleaner. The Blu & White business has been operating for years and should be allowed to continue.

Brian Macauley (North Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#84

I love going to blue and white dry cleaners and need to be able to park out the back. They are the only decent dry cleaners in Sydney and must be looked after.

Fiona De Salis (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#85

I support local businesses, particularly those with a real customer service ethic. curtailing parking would severely impact the ability of Blue&White dry cleaners to offer a client- appropriate service of drop off and pick up which is essential for such a business.

Louise Watson (Kirribilli, 2023-05-04)

#86

In support of local small businesses in area & to retain the village like atmosphere

Sharron O’Hare (Mosman , 2023-05-04)

#88

This needs to follow due planning process which is already in motion. It’s catastrophic for local businesses in its current form. I use the services they’re even living in Lane Cove. This upheaval will make it very challenging to drive in, use the dry cleaning as I have done for 30 years, use the wine cellars and coffee shop.

Chris Thorpe (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#89

I object to Cokes being given the power to do what they want without consideration to the impact on other local business in the square that have been serving our community for years. Unjust and unAustralian bully tactics by NS council. Shame

Ally Lipman (Cremorne , 2023-05-04)

#91

I’m showing my support for Blue and White Drycleaning and other small businesses

Henrietta Tilelli (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#94

If the Coles Group take over the Grosvenor Lane car park we will no longer be able to readily access the businesses that have premises around that car park and will stop purchasing goods and services from from those businesses

Rowena McPherson (Woollahra, 2023-05-04)

#96

To allow the village atmosphere to be lost to large multi nationals is apalling.
Once we allow excessive sized buildings we lose pedestrian access to our local businesses

Pamela Selkirk (North Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#97

I prefer the village atmosphere and the many small business operators who provide a wonderful service to the community than a big business take over by Coles…..the Council needs to reverse the DA approved for Coles asap
Terry Stapleton

Terry Stapleton (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#98

I’m signing in support of small businesses and lack of consultation with them.

Lucy Crook (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#99

I always use the car park to shop and no parking would make life very difficult for this 85 year old

Peter Chegwyn (Mosman, 2023-05-04)

#100

I think it’s right to do so

Sally Johnson (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#102

We need to keep our community feel in neutral Bay with these amazing small businesses who have been around for many years. Coles are not empathetic to what we want as neighbours. Thank you

Janine Haefeli (Neutral Bay, 2023-05-04)

#103

This will affect established local businesses that are the corner stones of neutral bay. Change is needed however this isn't the answer

Timothy Wilson (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#104

I am signing this petition because I firmly believe the businesses in the area need to have a discussion with Council. I strongly believe Neutral Bay Village should remain in it’s present state, that is, a wonderful community hub.

Karen Laing (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#106

I am signing because full discussion has not been had with the local business - for example Cosmos Florist and Blue and White Drycleaners

Eleanor Gair (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#107

I use many of the businesses that occupy shops leading onto the existing car park, and often the car park itself.
the coulcil car park should remain as council car park and not be taken over by Coles. I and the business owners rely on that carpark, not paid parking for Coles or Woolworths.

Rex Wood (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#109

Concerned for small business

Gabi Somlai (Neutral Bay, 2023-05-04)

#113

I support the small businesses around the new development.

Sue Reinecke (Clontarf, 2023-05-04)

#114

I am a long term customer of Blue and White Dry cleaning and resultant nearby shops, often there each week. I worry this will negatively impact the local shops . The current set up of the car park is perfectly adequate. It feels like proper consultation with nearby shops has NOT been done, and requires to be done, without delay. This is not just about Coles and what suits Coles. I am flabbergasted proper, thorough consultation has not been undertaken.

Amanda Maple-Brown (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#115

I am a local resident and love the village feel we have in Neutral Bay. I would not want to see small businesses pushed out.

Nicola Baker (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#116

I think that council giving away the ground level parking area to a private company is wrong, and will take business away from traders in the area.

David Searson (St Leonards, 2023-05-04)

#117

I consider the Grosvenor Lane carpark as an important community asset and open space.

Jeff Hudson (Seaforth, 2023-05-04)

#123

It is ridiculous decision by the Council and will affect all the small business operating in that area. I drive all the way from Waverley to support one of those small businesses, Blue and White Dry Cleaners . A great family owned and run business that you will shut down if this goes through. Please re-consider.

Richard O’ROURKE (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#124

I am concerned about the developments affect of local small businesses

Pamela Clinch (Neutral Bay, 2023-05-04)

#127

I believe it is imperative that Council follow the appropriate procedures and await the outcome of the Neutral Bay Town Centre Planning Study before allowing the lodgement of a DA over the Grosvenor Lane Carpark, a vital community resource.

Pauline Michelakis (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#130

The Council need to engage with all the small business owners. Too often local councils and local governments ride roughshod over those who are affected the most. Simply arrogant and shirking their full responsibilities.

Petra Mysell (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#133

Neural Bay will lose a valuable and convenient amenity if this car park is lost.

John Michelakis (Cremorne , 2023-05-04)

#134

I support to stop Council from granting this Owners Consent and commence a thorough and meaningful discussion with the businesses in the area.

Kimberly Grounds (Mosman, 2023-05-04)

#135

I care about the community and believe small businesses better serve us.

Emma Royle (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#142

Emma Pringle (Naremburn, 2023-05-04)

#143

I do not agree with the car park Grosvenor street being included in Coles DA.

Christine Schlipalius (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#144

I use those Neutral Bay Shops all the time for it’s small businesses and I believe they deserve equal say

Jacqueline Donohoe (Mosman, 2023-05-04)

#145

the businesses surrounding the Grosvenor Lane carpark are integral to the Neutral Bay community, providing a safe and pleasant area to shop and should be given the right to retain their businesses.
neutral already has 3 supermarkets - 2 x Woolworths and Coles at Big Bear. A fourth supermarket is unnecessary and as well as potentially ruining thriving small businesses, that enhance the Neutral Bay community.

Louise Hayes (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#148

Im protecting businesses

Sonya Baron-Hay (NSw, 2023-05-04)

#151

I support the small but very hard working independent retailers & businesses who deserve to have their opinion heard on this critical issue which will affect their livelihood & also impact negatively on their customers if their businesses struggle because if the DA

Delia Prichard (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#152

There needed to be more consultation and transparency from the council to the other shop owners/retailers and the car park current car parking needs to be retained.

Sussana Vitlich (Mosman, 2023-05-04)

#154

I object to loosing our village/community feel of the area👍

Lisa Lulham (Neutral Bay, 2023-05-04)

#155

This council believes it’s above the law and is so pro development especially Maryanne

JOHN Gray (Milsons Point, 2023-05-04)

#156

I’m sick of this biased council who’ve no idea what they’re doing and they don’t spend our money wisely

Graham Turville-Ince (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#160

I am against the proposed overdevelopment of Neutral Bay.

Alexandra Lavan (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#161

I shop and bring my dry cleaning on a regular basis

Sonja Colusso (Elanora Heights , 2023-05-04)

#162

I have a store that will be affected by this situation.

Carolina Giraldo Nauffal (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#165

I want to ensure the ongoing viability of the small businesses in Neutral Bay and preserve the village feel. There are already 3 large supermarkets (2 Woolworths and one Coles) in the area as well as an IGA in Cremorne

Jeffrey Brennan (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#168

I would like the small businesses to be consulted and the public to be informed about any changes to the current ie reshoot and development of the Grosvenor Lane car park

Maria Darian-Smith (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#173

I truly believe,a DA application by a registered for profit company ,does not override the wishes of a community based small businesses group, whose livelihood and that of its employees ,over an extended period of time ,would be greatly affected and in some cases lead to the termination of their businesses ,because of trade volume loss .
There must be a fairer and juster way forward.
So in conclusion ,let the small businesses have their relevant rights of consultation be respected and heard.

Rick Dunn (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#174

I believe small businesses should be consulted before progressing with this change as it will have significant impact to their businesses.

Elizabeth Brennan (Kurraba Point, 2023-05-04)

#175

Small businesses count and are the backbone of the local area. Plus due process and consultation must occur.

Megan Oleary (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#176

We need this car park it is crucial for the locals and small business to survive.

Liz Clinton (Cremorne Point, 2023-05-04)

#179

I am against the Coles development.

Larry Cornell (Cremorne Point , 2023-05-04)

#183

The existing small retailers affected by the proposal must be consulted by Council prior to any further development.

Glenn Pearson (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#185

I totally object to giving Coles public land and the disruption to the small businesses in the area caused by this

Tony Clarke (Kurraba Point, 2023-05-04)

#186

I do not like that the small businesses affected by this development have been consulted or even considered in this development. I support all the small businesses that are in the vicinity of this car park and am disgusted with the councils actions about this. Find an alternative that helps small businesses in the area, rather than blindly helping the much larger corporation ( coles) that will be the major beneficiary. The local residents want to see the council look after our favourite small businesses that have served the community for years, we do not want to see the council destroy these businesses for the sake of helping the larger cooperations in their wish to make money and destroy people’s livelihoods. Pretty disgusted with the councils actions.

Elizabeth Laukka (Neutral Bay, 2023-05-04)

#187

I feel strongly

John Roberts (Kirribilli , 2023-05-04)

#189

I do not wish to see the small and highly successful businesses close around the car park in Neutral Bay. They are very well run and essential to the fabric of our local community.

Susie Howard (Sydney , 2023-05-04)

#190

I don't support current long-standing businesses being destroyed for the benefit of Coles.

Richard O'Grady (NEUTRAL BAY, 2023-05-04)

#192

I am signing because I support the cause

Marilyn Escosa (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#193

Open space is critical to village atmosphere. This will become a overpowering building and kill local small business.
Leave it open space and turn it into a green little park. Do NOT give it up to big business.

Jan Staley (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)

#194

Neutral Bay business community is vital to our daily lives Blue and White is a exceptional family business as are the other shops !! This proposed development totally inappropriate.

Kathy quinlivan (Sydney, 2023-05-04)

#197

I don’t agree with giving up public space to corporates

Linda Curnow (Cremorne, 2023-05-04)
