Fish camp is a road.

I live here and have travelled this road for 22 yrs
It's my civic address. It is my hydro address. It is my cable/net address. It is my bus stop address. It is on every piece of my identification and my home. It is unjust to have street signs and have this as a civic address 22 years and to now state it never existed as a public road at all?! How shameful. Please help.

This is*****ed. Fvrd has screwed them over.

Jeremy Morris (Hope, 2023-07-16)

#4

I have spent a lot of time hanging out with friends at this location. I feel bad for my friends, help them in anyway.

Shelin Doniak (Harrison Hot Springs , 2023-07-16)

The provisions, demographics, logistics, have been unfair and the prohibited access to property which include multiple families, children, pets and livestock have been of little importance to those who have made it an impossible situation for this family and extended family.

Lauren Nash (Penticton , 2023-07-16)

#6

Im signing this because what is happening to this family and their property is barbaric. Theres nothing wrong with the land except for the driveway that was taken by a natural disaster. It could be fixed by the ministry and distict!

Jessica Bodnar (Hope, 2023-07-16)

#7

I have been to the Bell residence on Fish Camp rd in Hope BC, doing a delivery from FVBS Rona Hope.

Heather Thorne (Hope, 2023-07-16)

#8

You can't just landlock people out of their homes. Fish camp road has been around forever.

Chris Martin (Hope, 2023-07-16)

#9

I know that Fish Camp Road has been a public Road for 22+years. My late husband (Alex Rout) and I traveled up that road for many of those years to the Bell property. We have sent gifts and cards to their address on that road by mail many times and they received them.

Mildred Rout (Hope, 2023-07-16)

#10

My friend tashawna and her family are losing their home in some stupid land debate

Steph Martin (Hope, 2023-07-16)

#11

I’m signing this because I’ve driven down fish camp road since I was in my teens. So at least the last 20 years I’ve known that road to be there.

Jessica Poirier (Spuzzum, 2023-07-16)

#13

I have been to Fish Camp Road numerous times through my childhood. Fish Camp Road and the Bell property was a place I frequented regularly.

Chantal Walters (Cranbrook, 2023-07-16)

#15

I have used Fish Camp Road a number of times over the past 20 years, while visiting my brother and his family. It was always maintained and easy to find on a map.

Tammy Bell (Oshawa, 2023-07-16)

#16

I visited the homes on Fish Camp road many many times in the last 20 years. My boyfriend even rented the trailer on Evan Bells property in 2020. His address was on FISH CAMP ROAD.

Chantal Shaw (Hope, 2023-07-16)

#18

I have driven down Fish Camp Road numerous times when I lived in Hope BC . My husband and myself lived in Hope from 2006 until relocating to Powell River in 2022. What is happening to my ex coworker and her family is absolutely atrocious. Shame on all involved in this unbelievable garbage. These people are hard working individuals that are contributing to society and being tossed from their home they may be put in a homeless situation. SHAME ON EVERYONE OF YOU THAT WILL NOT COME UP WITH A DECENT AND PROPER SOLUTION TO PUT DRIVEWAY ACCESS BACK SO THESE PEOPLE CAN CONTINUE ON WITH THEIR LIVES. P Anderson/M Anderson.

Patricia Anderson (Powell River BC, 2023-07-16)

#19

It is clearly a road

Nicole Clark (Hope, 2023-07-16)

#20

I know this information to be accurate, and have used the road myself when I lived at this residence.

William Bell (Abbotsford , 2023-07-17)

#21

I lived at this address previously with the Bell family in the mid 2000’s. It was a road and I remember garbage trucks coming up the road to pick up our garbage in the yard. They deserve to have safe access to their property.

Ryan McPherson (Vancouver, 2023-07-17)

#22

I grew up in Othello. Lived there from 1984 to 1987 and was picked up by the bus next to Fishcamp Rd. I played with a girl named Sheena who lived on Fishcamp. When I was a teen in the mid 1990s, we would visit the Dearden family that lived on Fishcamp Rd.

Angela Lott (Lynden , 2023-07-17)

#24

I lived there - the road was definitely once there and it was accessed to get in and out of this property location.

Theresa Mcpherson (Vancouver, 2023-07-17)

#25

I used to travel to the Bells property as a teenager for parties way back in the day during 2002-2008. I’ve lived in Alberta for the past 18 years and travel back to Hope BC my hometown every year to visit family. Every year we’ve taken a drive up to othello to tour around and check out the tunnels up until the floods that washed everything.

It absolutely disgusts me that our government who sits behind a cushy desk getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars, won’t help these families who are literally trying to just live quietly and raise families on their OWN HOMESTEAD THAT THEY HAVE LIVED ON FOR WELL OVER 20 YEARS!

Do better and give these kind hearted people back their livelihoods.

Kristin Duncan (Fairview , 2023-07-17)

#26

People shouldn't go homeless because local government wants to pass the buck

Jamie Coghill (Chilliwack , 2023-07-17)

#27

I am an Othello resident and support this petition entirely. Not only do I agree with the statement that Fish camp is a road, but I also believe that unless a new road, or point of entry is granted to the Bell property, the rest of the neighborhood should be happy in helping our long time neighbors of the Bell property in finding access to their property after the floods of 2021. Whatever selfish reasons for cutting off access to Fish camp surely do not overrule our neighbors ability to find access to their house, especially when that access has been open to them for over two decades. I hope that they can all find a respectable resolution.

Lane Morgan (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#28

I have over the last 15+ years visited the Bell residence multiple times a year using Fish Camp Road, which since the most recent Coquihalla River Floods has been left in a complete state of disrepair by those governing bodies responsible for its maintenance. The land locking of the Bell family is entirely due to civil mismanagement and should be corrected immediately.

Andrew Coghill (Falkland , 2023-07-17)

#29

I have traveled fish camp rd multiple times for years prior to the floods.

Dawson Pelletier (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#30

I have lived in the community for over 50 years, and that road has, until the flooding, always been a usable access, to the homes, and properties, of friends that live there.

Wendy Coghill-Roebuck (Hope BC, 2023-07-17)

#31

For all the reasons as listed above.

Stephen Wilson (Rosedale, 2023-07-17)

#33

People live on this road. I’ve travelled to the Bell’s house many of times. No one should be force off and out of their house just because somebody says a road does not exist! I’ve walked it, touched it, drove on it, it’s REAL!

Kristoffer Shaw (Chilliwack , 2023-07-17)

#35

I’ve travelled the road to the Bell property for at least two decades.

Trevor Wilson (Chilliwack , 2023-07-17)

#36

I grew up in Hope, this is a legitimate home address. The family deserves to have fair access to their home.

Victoria Mckinnon (Mission , 2023-07-17)

#37

Many many times to drive my daughter to the Bell property 20 + years ago, Attended a wedding that was held at the Bell home over 15 yrs ago

laura conway (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#39

I’m signing because I lived at 67905 Fishcamp Road from when I was 3 years old until about 19 years old. My mailing address remains at 67905 Fishcamp road to this day. I grew up at this address and it’s the place I call home. We have held birthday parties, Christmas’s, thanksgiving dinners, and several other events at this household. 5 of my fathers children were raised at this home.

Liam Bell (Chilliwack, 2023-07-17)

#40

I have traveled that road several times starting as early as 2000-2001 till atleast 2018, my purpose of using that road was to vist friends that lived up there.

Kenneth Alexander (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#42

I have used this road multiple times in the early 2000s and can attest that it is, in fact, a road.

Amanda Marlatt (Kamloops, 2023-07-17)

#43

It's always been a road!
And people are going against this for their own personal gain!

Cory Hootnick (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#44

I’m signing because Fish Camp Road is a road within the district of Hope and I have been on that road many times

Tammy Bremner (Hope BC, 2023-07-17)

#46

I don’t agree with the decision to kick people out of their home for a pipeline.

Martina Sedlacek (Coquitlam, 2023-07-17)

#48

What the government is doing to these people is ludicrous. Just because they take the sign down does not stop it from being a road. The homes where accessible before the flood they the government owes them access.

Mike Shauer (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#49

I used this road numerous times I’ve seen it plowed there are families and animals out there that need support just do the right thing

Kevin Cirtwell (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#50

I have been on their property in the past and most definitely used their road to get there!

Mike Spanner (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#51

I live near this road and I know people who live on this road. You can't just eliminate a road.

Crystal Wiebe (Hope , 2023-07-17)

#53

I have known the Bell family for more than 20 years now and spent a good deal of my high school years at their home. I have driven on Fish Camp Rd countless times to get to their home. It is absolutely inexcusable that they’ve now been cut off from their property.

Leila Asdal Danielsen (Nærsnes, 2023-07-17)

#54

Some sort of resolution needs to come from this. I understand a natural disaster was the cause, BUT that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a road that I had travelled more than once more than a decade ago. I haven’t been to the property for about 15-16 years but before that time, we used fish camp road to get to the Bell’s property.

Samantha Friesen (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#56

I am signing because my family, who also lives on Othello, has used fish camp road numerous times, like for example when the floods hit in 2021 and wiped out othello road, we used fish camp road to get to and from our property.

Olivia Morgan (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#58

Have known the family a while, always used fish camp Rd until the floods happened.

Steve Massey (Abbotsford , 2023-07-17)

#60

This road was a gazettes road , when I was a provincial peace officer working originally for the ministry of highways and subsequently the min. Of Attorney General and Solicitor General this road was listed and was also maintained by the highway maintenance and subsequent contractors after privatization of hwy maintenance , this I can attest to .

Michael Bowcott (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#61

I spent many evenings up at the Bell residence while I lived in the hope area and got there by way of Fish Camp road.

Trista Miller (Kamloops, 2023-07-17)

#63

I grew up on 67851 Othello Rd. Fish Camp Rd. was always there. My friend growing up lived in the very house that is now isolated and we walked that road every day after school after getting off the bus. It was never gated and was maintained periodically with a grader when needed. It was even rebuilt after previous floods when the hill on the high side washed down the bank.

Roger Schmidt (Langley, 2023-07-17)

#64

People have been living on this road for decades, it's an official address on government IDs and mail, it even has an official ROAD SIGN and suddenly its not a recognized road? Multiple families with children and pets just have to LEAVE their homes that they built over 20 years ago?? That is BULLSHIT.

Jacy Davidson (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#65

I have travelled on fish camp road and have seen the posted road signs

ryan harris (Mission, 2023-07-17)

#66

Because these people are being so incredibly wronged it's sickning.

James Roksa (Hope, 2023-07-17)

#68

I have used this road 1000+ times since knowing the family.

Lindsay Gannon (Chilliwack, 2023-07-18)

#70

This is definitely a road!

Garrett Crittenden (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#71

I have visited this property since before Bell's owned it, the Fishcamp Road sign and Fishcamp road predates my first visit in the early 1980's to a tenant that lived in what is now Tashawna's house.

Dale Larsen (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#73

This has always been a road since as far back as I can remember

Stephanie Charlie (Chilliwack , 2023-07-18)

#74

Oil companies should never be able to forced people out of their home

Andrew Nickel (Calgary, 2023-07-18)

#76

I have direct, personal knowledge that Fish Camp Road was maintained and serviced as a public road having visited many times over the past 20 years. I have lived on the road and had garbage collection, postal service, and have seen service to the road in that time.

WILLIAM BELL (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#81

The local government has failed this family. They own a home and have accessed it via Fishcamp road for over 20 years. Do the right thing and find a solution.

Mary Taylor (Newcastle, 2023-07-18)

#82

Fishcamp is a road.

Dyan Booth (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#83

i worked for the ministry and private contractors who mowed, patched potholes and plowed snow on that road. I started in 1988 and retired in 2020. It was always a road then.

Lyle Fishbrook (HOPE, 2023-07-18)

#84

I'm the Sister in law of Evan Bell, and I'm the Auntie to the children you are trying to keep out of their home of over 20 years. It's a family oriented property and everyone has ALWAYS been welcome to come for dinner and to have fun, even Mike Poole the neighbor. Please get your act together and help my family.

Tamara Boldt (Hope , 2023-07-18)

#85

I have always known that road to be Fish Camp since 2004, was at the property endless times, I have walked and drive that road the signs always been there, It shows up in maps when you put in the address. This should not be happening they should be allowed to access there property.

Kendra McGill (Cobourg, 2023-07-18)

#86

I'm signing because I know fishcamp road has been a road for more then 20 years. I would bike up it to see friends back in high school.

Jolene Common (Chilliwack , 2023-07-18)

#87

I have driven fishcamp road unobstructed since I was 18 (2006).. I'm now 35. Not only was there a road sign that mysteriously disappeared there is and still remains a no thru road sign... I've seen it plowed and maintained with a grater as well as pot hole filling in my years of being a regular user of fishcamp rd.

Natasha Fenning (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#88

I use this road a lot over the years I have parked here for swimming and events. And for visiting long time friends that live there!

Darell Torrie (Chilliwack , 2023-07-18)

#89

This is an absolute joke! The town needs to wake up and recognise this road

Greg Findlay (Edmonton, 2023-07-18)

#90

My son Levi Yliruusi has lived there for over a year and what is happening makes absolutely no sense

Sharon Yliruusi (hope, 2023-07-18)

#91

I've used this road to access the family's properties before. They have been using this road for over 20 years..I was in highschool (2000ish) when visiting their property and using this road. This is ridiculous bureaucracy that's not helping anyone.

Drena Schonberger (Chilliwack , 2023-07-18)

#92

I believe in justice and rights for all and what the “neighbours” are doing is wrong and should not be allowed to continue.

Dana Drope (Chilliwack , 2023-07-18)

#95

This is a public road that all landowners in the area should have access to no matter what.

Kate Budau (Kelowna , 2023-07-18)

#96

My friends childhood is landlocked and it's not right

Christopher McIntyre (Chilliwack, 2023-07-18)

#97

The district of Hope has the responsibility to maintain and service this road so these families can return home in their community where there is already a housing crisis with both homes and affordability.

Nichole Bodai (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#98

I’ve travelled on, seen the road sign with the name for years, seen mail to this specific street address and attended the homes on Fishcamp Road!

Katie Perrin (Merritt, 2023-07-18)

#99

Being land locked is just wrong!

Valerie Chisholm (Pointe aux Roches, 2023-07-18)

#100

Fish camp road has always been a road. I grew up not far from there on kawkawa lake road

Michael Bonson (Nanaimo , 2023-07-18)

#101

I am signing this petition because Fish camp Rd is a public road. I fully support the 11 residents who reside on Fish camp Rd. Considering that the Bell family has owned this property for 22 years, it is a travesty that this has still not been resolved. Shameful :(

Tina Keene (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#103

I feel like the road should be opened back up so they have access to their property

Christa Smith (Chilliwack, 2023-07-18)

#104

I’ve drove down fish camp road to the bell residents on multiple occasions. And have seen snow city snow plows clearing the road on may occasions.

Sheldon Perrin (Merry, 2023-07-18)

#105

Fish camp has always been a road. These families need to be allowed to go home.

Bobbie-Lee Poljanowski (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#106

Fish camp was always a proper road growing up, and what’s happening to my friends who live up there, is wrong. We all used that road to access their property growing up.

I also had an incredibly old and unreliable car, and as a teenager, I would not have been successfully able to access their property, unless the road had been maintained. Which I did on multiple occasions.

Laura Bouchard (Surrey, 2023-07-18)

#107

I have driven on fish camp rd to the Bell residence on multiple occasions prior to the flood in 2021. They should not be land locked and driven from their homes.

Robin Brass (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#109

I have used this road to visit a family living here.

Daz Aze (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#111

I’m signing because it government is screwing this family over. This was a govt funded road!!!

Kelly Stephens (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#112

My friends can no longer live in there home without trespassing to get in ! We've driven on this road many times !
It in fact is a road!!

Cherie Struthers (Abbotsford , 2023-07-18)

#114

I'm signing this because...
This land, home and property, had been in "my family" for way to long, for these people to have to endure what the city/province and been putting them through. The weather, and let alone the floods that reeked havoc on many peoples homesteads, two/three years ago, was hard enough. After rebuilding and recovering from that. This seizing, is wrong, I have frequented this property, home for many, many years. Some of my best memories, toke place on this land. Roads were always clean and maintained. Being in the othello area..it was usually the last area of Hope, to be maintained. But no matter what season, we always approached the property with no issues. Meaning it was a well maintained road.

Brandi Gorr (Abbotsford , 2023-07-18)

#115

Fish camp is a road in hope bc, have been down it few times. Well graded and with government signing

Ryan Kanester (Chilliwack, 2023-07-18)

#117

I'm signing because I've been going up to fish camp road to the bells residence since I was very young, whether it was for family get together or special occasions. My family deserves the right to stay and be able to access the property!

Cheryl Harris (Hope, 2023-07-18)

#119

It's disgusting what is being done to these people.

Brenden Crowells (Ajax , 2023-07-18)

#120

This is a real road that leads to a real property where young families live. With all the destruction and devastation from the flood why does this family also need to loose their perfectly good homes?

Ashley Stork (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#121

This is unfair! I have travelled Fish Camp Road many times!!

Eleanor Chinn (Mission, 2023-07-19)

#122

I’m signing because I have most definitely spent lots of evenings at the Bells house with friends over the past 15 years

Tami Carruthers (Chilliwack , 2023-07-19)

#123

I used to be a designated driver, and have driven friends back and forth to here for years. I've helped people work on vehicles, and have spent numerous times here since I was in high school close to the beginning of the 2000's.

Cody Fortune (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#125

I grew up in Hope as did my Family. My Grandparents were some of the first to settle on the far side of Kawkawa Lake. One of the roads is even named after my family (Stephens Rd.) I have know the Bell family since the early 2000’s and while I still lived in Hope I used Fish Camp Rd. visit the Bell family on the regular. To hear about everything going on after the flooding and that Fish camp Rd. Is not an actual road blows my mind!!! What the neighbours are putt my friends through is atrocious!

Chris Stephens (Chilliwack , 2023-07-19)

#129

I've lived on this property for roughly a year and a half. I've been coming to this property for the last 3 years and until the floods in 2021 fish camp road was never blocked or obstructed. I've seen garbage removal come to 67905 Fish Camp road, as well.
I witnessed several people use Fish Camp rd and a driveway built by the neighbour to get out during the 2021 flooding.
What is happening is completely unacceptable. Between the neighbours blocking us and threatening trespassing charges, and the two districts denying any responsibility for the road. The ministry of transportation denying any responsibility for the road.
Someone needs to step up and do their job.

Levi Yliruusi (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#130

#132

I’ve travelled this road many times.

Justin Kern (Calgary, 2023-07-19)

These people are not being treated fairly. We all pay our taxes including them and there is no reason there road should not be re built.

Katie Antonishka (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#134

I’m singing because Camp Fish Rd is a road and the way several levels of government are handling the situation is absolutely disgusting.

Alissa Dalles (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#135

Fish camp road is a road people have lived there for years now it needs to be accessible to the families that live there and any community members/tourists visiting these families

Allana Lee-jones (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#136

This is ridiculous and totally unfair that these families that have been living on Fishcamp Rd for so many years all of a sudden can't live there anymore. All levels of government need to work a little harder to find a way for these families to access their property.

Georgina Rice (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#137

Our friends the Bell family who live on Fish Camp rd. We have driven Fish Camp regularly since 2003. Charlene is a member of Hope SAR and was dedicated to the floods of 2021 while her home was in the path of the raging Coquihalla.

Brenda Deschenes (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#138

Fish camp road is obviously a road and the homeowners deserve access to their homes.

Ryan Smith (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#139

#140

Wrongs need righting.

Josh Holtkamp (Mission, 2023-07-19)

I have been using this rd to enter the residents of this property house since 2002.
I have even attended search and rescue calls around anD on this rd.

Amanda Spendelow (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#142

I've used this road. A road is a road.

Zacharia Morgenstern (Hope , 2023-07-19)

#143

This is a travesty nd not right , these people didn't deserve to be displaced like this

Reta Buchanan (Agassuz, 2023-07-19)

#145

this isn't fair

Tobi Martin (Hope B.C, 2023-07-19)

#146

I was a delivery driver for Home Depot chilliwack and I made numerous deliveries to Evan Bell on Fish camp road that was clearly marked with a street sign.

Duane Vermette (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#147

I'm signing because I grew up in hope and visited this family for many years using the public road Fish camp road.

Robert Gannon (Osoyoos, 2023-07-19)

I have visited the Bell Family on Fish Camp Rd for at least the last 12 years. This is the only access I have ever used to enter the property.

Karla Turner (Mission, 2023-07-19)

#149

FishCamp Road IS a road! I had been driving that area often for years, before the floods happened.

Shareen Halverson (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#150

It is a grave injustice

Welland Spendelow (Chilliwack, 2023-07-19)

#153

I have traveled on this road and always believed it to be an actual road. I also worked with legal addressing in Hope and Fish Camp Road was definitely a legal address.

Traci Madsen (100 Mile House, 2023-07-19)

#154

It’s a road lol

Kyle Fuckingbarner (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#156

So ridiculous that this is happening to these people. The surrounding landowners should be ashamed and the government should be responsible for putting these people in this position. In this current housing crisis they should be helping not denying the problem exists.

Sheryl McGraw (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#158

This is a devastating loss to our community. Not only would it mean the loss of people who care deeply about our town with ties going back generations, it also shows how little care there is from politicians. In a town that has less than 1 percent housing, it's a travesty.

Caroline Smith (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#159

This is totally unjust and cruel

Amanda Jackson (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#160

I have driven down this road and seen homes prior to the flooding/rain event. Homes with driveways leading on to fish camp. I have seen garbage bins in yards. Just like other residential streets.
Obviously it was a residential area.

Kimberley Mcgaw (Chilliwack , 2023-07-19)

#165

this is an actual road and if they don't want it travelled they must provide access to these peoples homes!!!

Kim Marlatt (Carstairs, 2023-07-19)

#166

I've visited the homes on FISH CAMP ROAD since I was a teen. This needs to be resolved asap.

Sarah Golos (Hope, 2023-07-19)

#167

Fish camp is a road. This road needs to be fixed by the municipality or the government. There are families who have lived there for years who need to have access to their homes.

Sophie Enns (Hope , 2023-07-19)

#171

families are being left homeless due to our governments negligence

Brittney Thayer (hope, 2023-07-19)

This is a road that families have long built their homes on. I have driven it over the years and am appalled that families are being uprooted.

How can you just eliminate a road? Driven this road many times, to this house and beyond, throughout my life

I think you needed to step on a long time ago. Speaking as an indigenous person who has had both Bands have land taken from them for easements for roadways and hydro. The government will be compensating.

Had a friend living on Fish Camp road about 25 years ago. We used that road daily. Was maintained year round as a public road.

I have visited friends on this road for years. I also have visited areas along the river there for enjoying summer days and sometimes camping.
