Quinton is a good friend, a kind person and someone who employs not only a young man who needed help and direction, but a homeless white man who had hit rockbottom. Us old age pensioners who swim in the early morning adore him and need him to be our hub and meeeting place.

I don't want his livelihood taken away. His booth is an important part of the Muizenberg beachfront community; a place where people get together and socialize.

Geoffrey Woodward (CAPE TOWN, 2023-08-03)

#5

I support Quinton and his small business, he employs local people and provides excellent coffee and pancakes!

The city of Cape Town have not treated him fairly.

Craig Wilson (Muizenberg , 2023-08-03)

#6

I have heard and read nothing but good things about this operation. If there is an issue involving his precise previous location, please put forward an alternative option within range of his normal customer-base.

#7

Quinton’s coffee and pancake caravan is a vital part of the vibrant beach front

Brett McDougall (Muizenberg, 2023-08-03)

#8

This trader runs his own business making pancakes & serving coffee for visitors at Surfers Corner.

Margaret Dugmore (Cape Town, 2023-08-03)

#9

I am in FULL support of “the pancake” caravan and it has become part of my daily life for the past year and beside being lost without it, there are 4 people whose income was lost overnight.
We want to see Quinton and his team back at the beach, soon, please.

Kerrie ONeill (Muizenberg , 2023-08-03)

#11

I'm signing because I believe a mistake has been made and needs to be rectified ASAP. We need jobs for people in SA - don't take them away!!

Nikki Froneman (Muizenberg, 2023-08-03)

#13

The pancake caravan and Quinton have played an important part in establishing the ever increasing popularity of surfers corner and it appears as if the process to reject their license application was irregular in light of the fact that some other less regular vendors were approved. No valid reason for rejection was given

Craig Holmes (Cape Town, 2023-08-03)

#15

We need the likes of this man back on our turf

David Muller (Cape Town , 2023-08-03)

#16

Quinton is part of and provides a valuable service to the Muizenberg community. I believe he must be given a licence to trade at the beachfront.

Elspeth Muirhead (Cape Town , 2023-08-03)

#17

Quinton has changed the lives of 3 people who work with him....Stephen who was homeless. Naheem was a troubled teenager and Dora is a ray of sunshine too..its like 1 big happy family. We all love them and are devastated
His coffee, service the best.
He arrives at 5.30 ..to.sell by 6.
He is always helping others.
The beach has lost its vibe we all.want to.support small businesses not huge franchises .
Muizenbirg is unique.. ..we want to keep it that way..

Margaretha Loder (Cape town, 2023-08-03)

#18

They are part of the muizenberg beachfront and should stay there.

#19

I love our muizenberg community ❤️

Glendyr Dade (Muizenberg, 2023-08-03)

#22

Quintin has been a feature of Muizenberg ever since I first moved here. He and his coffee have always that first sunshine ray after a morning surf, way before any of the other shops open. Not only that, but he is still a local supporting others that are less fortunate, unlike all the shitty franchise chains, like Starbucks, kauai, ocean basket and spur, that are ruining what the Berg used to be.

Stephan Kirsten (Muizenberg, 2023-08-04)

#23

I'm signing because the pancake is not only a great place for coffee and pancakes but also because small business needs to thrive and shut down

Kurt Borchards (Table View (7439), 2023-08-04)

Because we care for local businesses and Mr Festus is a cunt. Proper cunt that has been getting kickbacks from businesses running at surfers corner

We support small family businesses with affordable prices to suit everyone’s pockets!

Shafaa Watson (Cape Town, 2023-08-04)

#26

I am a resident of Muizenberg and have pancakes and coffee at The Pancake every day. Quinton is a beacon of the community who supports not only his family but three others who depend on him for work. He is an upstanding member of our community who lives in Muizenberg. Taking his licence away takes his livelihood away.

Jeremy Pender (Cape Town, 2023-08-04)

#27

The Pancake provides the best coffee on the beachfront. The Pancake opens early every morning so the only place I can get a coffee in time before i leave the beach for work. I can't afford daily coffee at any if the other beachfront venues but Quinton charges a discounted price for locals which i can afford. The Pancake provides a valuable service that no other vendor provides, and is an essential income for several 'Muizenbergers'.

Catherine Kvalsvig (Cake Town, 2023-08-04)

#28

The Pancake sells great food and coffee and Muizenberg needs an afordable vendor like this.

Wilma Calderwood (Cape Town, 2023-08-04)

#30

These are our own local young entrepreneurs who are trying to provide a service in muizenberg . Their coffee and pancakes are great and their service excellent. They deserve a chance. Why should Starbucks, an international brand be allowed to operate but our local guys denied.

Rene Jan (Cape town, 2023-08-04)

#31

Jeanette Isaacman (CT, 2023-08-04)

#33

I support this business and feel that they make a positive contribution to the Muizenberg community.

hilary melck (Cape Town, 2023-08-04)

#35

I to would like to know the reason for “The Pancakes” not being issued a renewed permit.
Seems like big business is dictating who you should issue permits to. Or Maybe it’s something much more nefarious than that.

Gerard van Rheede (Muizenberg , 2023-08-04)

#36

I have been to the Muizenberg so many times and always enjoyed pancakes and coffee at The Pancakes. It makes our family's visit to Muizenberg complete once we gather and have delisious pancakes. Please don't take away our moments of pleasure.

Kresimir Korona (Zadar, 2023-08-04)

#37

My preference at the beachfront is Quinton and his team, always a friendly greeting and a big smile. Would much rather support local business, instead of being forced to support international chain stores. Residents should be allowed to choose which businesses they support without municipal intervention preventing a long time permit holder from trading as he has done for years.

Rox Thomas (Cape Town, 2023-08-04)

Zayaan Ferguson (Cape Town , 2023-08-04)

#47

I'm signing because I am a customer of The Pancake, and I know how hard Quentin and his team have worked to create a successful and we'll supported business. I do not understand why they have been harrassed by the office that issues their permit. They are there six days a week, keeping their space clean, and providing income for three other people besides their own family. The Pancake has become a beachfront fixture and is very much missed by the community they serve. There is another trader that still has a licence although he is hardly ever there and when he is there customers are few. Makes no sense. I , as a local beach user, want the pancake to continue trading. They have even had recommendations from travel sites and reviews.

Robyn Wainwright (Muizenberg, 2023-08-04)

#49

Quinton is part of the muizenberg strip. He is a landmark and a meeting point for many. Not everyone wants to sit down and have a pancake and coffee. Some prefer to have it on the go with a touch of Quintons flair.
We ate the community and we vote for him to remain

Allan Sloan Meyer (Muizenberg , 2023-08-04)

#51

Their business is a real bonus to locals and visitors

They are the greatest to have in the area. They know everyone and work so hard. They are there from 5am and deserve to be there. We all love them. They are part of our community

Gill Liprini (Cape Town, 2023-08-05)

#55

Keep local traders - support local and don't by Starbucks!!! We are proud South-Africans and must act in accordance with the best interests of our local shops and tradesmen. Permits for all honest traders, via due process. Renew permits, Starbucks and global companies encroaching will be the death of our character - permits to be renewed and to be able to continue trading of Muizenberg shops, respect their right to live and form income. They are a vital part of the Muizenberg Beachfront community

JN Golembo (Cape Town , 2023-08-05)

#56

Muizenberg beach front is become a strip mall. All independent businesses are being taken over by big franchises. We DO NOT want Muizenberg to become like Camps Bay, we want it to stay local and lekker

My son and I love getting pancakes from him when we visit the beach. It’s become a tradition. It’s too difficult to visit the restaurants when you have a toddler. Restaurants are always packed with long queues

Megan Torr (Cape Town, 2023-08-05)

#74

The Pancake outlet is an integral part of the Muizenberg community and has been providing locals and visitors with delicious refreshments for years. He is a micro business on the beachfront and provides employment to locals who also support their families. This is an essential part of the tourist offering on the beach front and very well supported.
We would like to see his trading licence reinstated with immediate effect.
Thank you

Aside from being really great and friendly people, The Pancake staff also make the most delicious coffee and pancakes. They are a vital part of our enjoyment of surfing in Muizenberg. They are tidy, respectful of their surroundings and provide better service than many of the established businesses on the beachfront. Their popularity should speak volumes to the relevant permit authorities. Please reinstate their licence to trade.

Frances Stephens (Muizenberg , 2023-08-08)

#143

I'm signing this today because it's a disgraceful manner what the city of cape Town is doing to small businesses. Quintons pancakes and coffee is unique and I've seen his business grow into beautiful atmosphere of respect and appreciation of day to day people that stops by. That way of treating strangers and helping the community is special and something you don't see at just any coffee stand. Please bring back the people choice of coffee back to muizenberg "the pancake".

I'm signing this petition in support of the pancake having their permit renewed. The Pancake in all their time trading at Surfers Corner Muizenberg has always provided excellent friendly service. Their products they serve are absolutely delicious and of a very high quality. They cater for the people of the community by selling their products at an affordable rate. As a member from the community I return to Surfers Corner weekly to enjoy a fluffy melt in your mouth pancake and good coffee . As small business owners they have really raised the standards of customer service . I stand with this petition to have their permit be renewed.
