Leande Greedd (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#18

Although I have sympathy with the people living in the park, random occupation cannot be allowed. Access needs to be controlled as this park is still a public CoT space and I do not feel safe to use it as such.

Karien Gerber (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#19

Heather Bronkhorst (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#100

I have an Educational centre in the area and we need a safe, clean environment for all. We all work hard in the area to keep the value of our properties. We just can’t have squatters moving in.

Carla Van zyl (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#102

Parks are there for residents and children to enjoy as families in a safe environment. Illegal squatting in public parks is against the law. Squatting has a detrimental effect on property values.

Marilyn McGee (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#104

Firstly, I think that people need a place yo love, but I also believe there should be safe & clean public places for kids to play & for the community to gather. The loiterers not only make the park unsafe, but also create a health hazrad as they defecate in the park, cook food & wash clothes without any facilities such as running water, sewage & rubbish removal.

Paulina Kowalewicz (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#105

At this stage it is becoming dangerous to walk through the park. Also find the source of the sewer spill into the stream flowing through Jimmy Aves park. The stench is all the way down into the Menlyn area.

Leon Trollip (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#106

The illegal occupants of the park are a huge threat for the safety of our community. They are living in unhygienic circumstances which causes a health risk to all of us.

#110

I am a home owner in Garsfontein.

Hannelize van den Berg (pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#113

I live 2 blocks away from the park and have seen first hand how it went from a space for my family to visit, to a den of drugs, vagrants and criminals. Crime skyrocketed in the area since this park was left to become this nest of filth. Seems everyone's rights are more important than the rate payers'.

Renaldo Meere (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#115

I am gatvol for the mismanagement of our area and the ever rising crime rate. We need to get ahold of our community and area again.

Matthys Nel (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#117

The park is a place where I, my grandchildren and dogs want to spend time outdoors and feel safe.

Elmarie Geldenhuys (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#121

#123

I am concerned about the degenerative impact if the squatters has on the park and surrounds.

Heinrich Joubert (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#124

The park is an Eye sore, homeless people bathing, and urinating in public, littering in the park. I will not let my daughter go to the Vurgin Active as its not safe for her. The park must be cleared of vagrants and locked up.

Frank Smith (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#126

I would like our community to be safe

Sanet Roets (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#127

I live close to the park. I don't feel safe arriving home in the evenings or walking my dogs in my area. I've been approached many times by dubious characters who roam the surrounding streets, and there is a growing number of people who occupy the park for somewhere to sleep at night. There's also a ton of old people who live in the area who have no choice but to be exposed to harassment from these vagrants when they dare step outside their complex or retirement village. Not to even mention the vagrants who sleep behind the police station. Things are getting out of hand in Garsfontein due to no control of our open spaces. I just don't get that the police station is not even 500m away from this park, and nothing is being done about the crime and occupation thereof.

It would be wonderful to see the park be revived as a safe space for the public to enjoy again

Venessa Stander (Garsfontein , 2023-09-18)

#130

Non residents are a concern and could be linked to high crime and damage and theft of infrastucture.

Willie Pienaar (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#131

I'm signing because it is a safety concern.

Chantelle Bruyns (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#132

I'm signing because the park became a risk for the owners and everyone living in Woodglen. The units look out on the park. The vagrants also cut our electric fence multiple times.

Hannelie Benecke (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#133

We do not feel safe living near the park, I have a small son who can not play outside as it is not safe. There is constantly people walking past our house asking for food and clothes

Bernice Gerber (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#137

Public parks and green spaces are being ruined by squatters and are becoming unsafe areas for families and children who should be free to use them.

Peter Brook (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#138

Of the huge negative impact illegal dwellers are having by staying permanently in the Jimmy Avis Park, which makes it dangerous to visit by residents and cause unacceptable problems. This is not a place to live, to cook, use the stream for bathing, cooking, toilets and washing. Fires are being made for cooking. Remove these people.

Ronelle Le Roux (Garsfontein, 2023-09-18)

#140

I drive past this park every day and have seen the increase in squatters. It is supposed to be a park for kids to play ball and people of the area to relax in nature. It has become dangerous with the amount of squatters increasing rapidly and taxis parked in the street. If action is not taken now, it will soon become another health hazard and the number of squatters will increase to the point where removing them will cause a political situation.
Please remove them now.

Stephanie Van der Linde (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#142

To have squatters removed.

Carine Smit (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#144

To keep the park clean and to keep it locked and safe

Antoinette J v Rensburg (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#145

I agree that this has become a big problem

Martjie Hamman (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#148

I used to walk in park every day and it was relatively safe. Now it is a dirty nightmare. A place to keep away from. If the squatters are not removed soon it will become impossible to move them & we will be looking at another Erasmus Kloof situation.

Beverley Pullin (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#149

I support this cause and want to ensure the safety of my family

Nicoli Wiese (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#150

Park no longer safe for kids. Walking pets is not possible with the threat of illegal people staying in unsanitary situations and the community has been tarnished with the unsafe and unsanitary environment

Elmarie Venter (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#151

Concern for my family safety because the park is close to us.

Chantell Mc Crate (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#152

The park used to be a safe area for a Sunday visit with my kids... most days it has become a dustbin and toilet by vagrants, a hot spot for criminals to get into and out of the area and hide in to avoid capture.

Michael Cornelius (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#154

The safety of my family.

Jarrod McCrate (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#157

I'm a concerned resident.

Johan Venter (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

Retha Meiring (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#161

I’m signing because there is no control over the park and it is a dirty mess, and dangerous.

Riaan Grobler (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#162

It affects my family. We want a save area.

Mariska Gort (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

The park is for the use of the residents of the suburb, not a space for vagrants to spread their filth and lawlessness.

Norman Reyneke (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#165

I stay close to the park. It's a security risk for residents

Irma Scherman (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#166

It's unsightly, brings drugs and crime to the area. Against city laws.

Paul Charsley (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#170

I want my ward to be safe

Jurgens Human (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#173

The park is losing its integrity as an attraction and serves to only publicly show the lack of municipal or governmental control.

Martin Grundlingh (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#174

It effects my property value and increased crime in our area.

Heinz Hirsch (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#176

Sanitation, noise and security problems brought about due to informal settlement occurring in Garsfontein Jimmy Aves Park..

Lerina Fosker (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#179

The situation in this park is creating a criminal network operating in all surrounding areas mostly during night time and is totally unacceptable

Jakkie Schlebusch (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#180

Children can no longer play in the park as it is unsafe. Substances are being sold there and used in a public park, there is prostitution and the park is used as a hiding place for criminals especially after dark

Johan Hartman (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#182

There must be a rule of law. Safe areas can't just be stolen

Angus Westley (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

Because it not safe anymore, and they causing problems

Julia Ngola (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#186

Vagrancy & squatting are an ever-growing concern, & we don’t want that in this area. Parks are green areas there for the local community to enjoy.

Donovan Rogers (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#188

Unsafe, crime, water contamination, fire, you get chased out when going for walks!

Tiaan Schoeman (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#189

Its the right thing

Willem Van der Vyver (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#191

The squatters is n big problem and need to be removed

Sybrand Van sittert (Garsfontein, 2023-09-18)

#193

I stay in Garsfontein

Michelle van der Walt (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#194

1) I have been accosted in the park whilst walking to the Virgin Active gym .
2) The park is absolutely filthy with bottles, papers and the likes.
3) The park sometimes smells like a toilet.
4) If nothing is urgently done about this problem it is going to turn into another plastic city and the Council will be unable to remove these people.

Andre Pretorius (Tshwane , 2023-09-18)

#195

Crime will increase. House prices will drop.

Elsabe Steyn (Garsfontein, 2023-09-18)

#197

Because I don't want to see our public space becoming a squatter camp where you as public feel usafe and the environment is damaged.

Daniel Vorstet (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#198

Jimmy aves park squaters, vagrants. Destroy value and surounding value off properties and parks. It makes it open for other crime moving in and health reason.

Frederik Gerber (Pretoria, 2023-09-18)

#199

I want action taken to remove illegal settlements at Jimmy Aves Park. The illegal settlements have made park ugly.

Vusi Ngwenya (Pretoria , 2023-09-18)

#200

I'm signing because by-laws protect the rights of all citizens and if allowed to be infringed then the rights, protection and dignity of all citizens is undermined and the Constitution that was established through much struggle is devalued.
