I'm signing because I feel passionate about this cause and keeping our town centres as vibrant as possible.

The elderly need this store in the town ce

Our town is dismembered slowly and horribly and the council believes its the right way moving forward...

Such a lot of people still depend on town centre stores, non drivers will struggle to reach the new proposed location due to lack of public transport in this area, especially if mobility is an issue and there just isn’t enough in the immediate area to make it a worthwhile trip. It’s at the heart of our town, it needs to remain in the centre.

Jennifer Tomlinson (Blackburn , 2023-11-27)

I've seen the effect of this in Torquay. Debenhams also leaving a brand new building in Exeter too. It's still empty roght in the heart of the new shopping centre!

I only go into Blackburn centre for M&S so
If it closes I won’t bother anymore. Great store, great staff. Good clothes. Deepdale is an option.

Julie McCarthy (Blackburn, 2023-11-27)

I use m and s a lot

Blackburn NEED m&s - this shop is a lifeline to the elderly residents of the town who wouldn’t be able to visit a retail park.

N Dawson (Blackburn, 2023-11-27)

I do not drive.
I shop at Marks and Spencers in the town centre.
Thankyou.

Jennifer Cook (Blackburn, 2023-11-27)

We all need Marks and Spencer stay open

stewart Gregory (Blackburn, 2023-11-27)

Blackburn needs to be a thriving hub. The closure of a flagship store would be terrible. However Marks and Spencers, should try innovation and the store should adapt to the changed demographic in its clothing and food.

Nigel James (Chester, 2023-11-27)

Blackburn still needs a M& S in the town centre

Susan Ferguson (Lancashire , 2023-11-27)

As a regular visitor to Blackburn town centre I often shop in the Marks & Spencer there. I wouldn’t make an extra journey to visit an out of town store.

Valerie Warren (Southport, 2023-11-27)

I'm signing because it's the hub of the town lots of people meet up in the cafe,it's a great place to shop for food or clothing it in the Town centre everybody knows where it is even the chap from Salvation army who stands outside awaiting Donations will miss out, unfortunately not everyone has a car.

The town cannot afford to lose the last remaining high street name

Duncan Hodgkinson (Blackburn, 2023-11-28)

#49

This store is a vital part of our community. Not everyone drives so therefore cannot travel further a field.

Bernie Smith (Blackburn , 2023-11-28)

I go into M&S often due to working in Blackburn and have done for many years. The cafe is a great meeting point for lots of elderly people and it would be a shame to lose it. It would kill the town centre and close many other businesses down.

Michelle Jordan (Chorley, 2023-11-28)

Because I think it would be very bad for the town centre I love going into mark's and it would be hard for me if it moved I don't drive

Blackburn town centre cannot sustain the loss of such a key retailer and its disappearance will sound the last post for The Place

Michael Hill (Clitheroe , 2023-11-28)

It is an icon Blackburn that has been there for generations

Michael Albin (Blackburn , 2023-11-28)

I travel to Blackburn and M&S is my go to store. I have no transport and heavily rely on this shop during my visits. As the shop is usually busy so must many other people.

Annettej Mulligan (Peterborough, 2023-11-28)

#64

My Dad uses the stores cafe and food hall every single day and it keeps him going since losing mum.

Sue Edwards (Blackburn, 2023-11-28)

I can see me home town being destroyed by Muslims. Not great for the ones without a vehicle like my family.

Louise Pepperall (Eastbourne, 2023-11-28)

#68

I firmly believe Marks and Spencer is a focal point in Blackburn town centre and its demise would be a huge loss both for shoppers and other retail outlets.

Audrey Dunstan (Blackburn, 2023-11-28)

#69

Not everyone can drive out of town, Blackburn is just so full of pound shops, charity shops and cafes! We need to keep our town centre.

Alison Duxbury (Lower Darwen , 2023-11-28)

#70

We need M & S in our town centre. A lot of elderly people rely on it being in the town centre.

Barbara Smith (Blackburn, 2023-11-28)

Although I now live abroad but yearly visit blackburn and the first thing we do is visit m&,s. Go home loaded up with everything from clothes to goodies. My husband remembers getting his first pair of long pants when he was 15. He is now 88 and still buys every year. Please keep Blackburn town centre as it us. We have seen so many changes over the years and would hate to see Bkackburn go the same way as places like Accrington

Darleen Witherington (Mississauga, 2023-11-28)

#74

It will kill the town centre and because I like the store easy to get too.

Catherine Swan (Blackburn, 2023-11-28)

#76

It's the only really good shop now in Blackburn town centre especially since Debenhams left, not everyone has a car plus it's the worst place to go right on the roundabout at whitebirk.

Marion Szejner (Blackburn, 2023-11-28)

#77

We need to keep a department store in Blackburn.

Denise Tate (Blackburn , 2023-11-28)

I love visiting and buying from this store when I’m in Blackburn. It’s one of my highlights when I’m in the Town.

Joanna Mannering (Leigh on sea , 2023-11-28)

#83

Many of the M&S customers are middle aged to elderly and a great many of these people don’t drive or own a car. If M&S leave the town centre they will lose these customers and the customer will lose their go to shop for underwear and other clothing. Also office workers will lose a valuable food hall where they can buy lunches.

Gwendoline Walsh (Blackburn , 2023-11-28)

#84

The town centre is going downhill fast.. lots of empty units inside the mall and if Marks and Spencer’s goes there is nothing much left. I will no longer go into the mall if this happens. I currently go every week with my mum but we will find somewhere else to shop.

Caroline Heatley (Blackburn, 2023-11-28)

#85

We are loosing to many high street shops outside of town and it needs to stop.

Michael Johnson (Blackburn, 2023-11-28)

#86

Blackburn will go to the dogs.

Catherine Forrest (Blackburn, 2023-11-29)

#90

I love having a Marks and Spencer store in town! I really don't want to lose it. It's very handy for clothes and food.

jenny statham (Chorley, 2023-11-29)

#92

It’s important to keep the town centre busy with a choice of shops

John Fell (Southport, 2023-11-29)

#94

It’s a central meeting point for lots of local people who can’t travel further to shop. lots of single elderly people use the cafe. The shop is well used. Taking it away the area around the town hall will be bleak.

Jan Patrick (Shrewsbury, 2023-11-29)

#95

I think its disgusting taking everything away from blackburn Town, nothing left as it is.

linda webster (Blackburn, 2023-11-29)

Its end of an era M/S has always been there, people without transport wont be able to go anymore, i always went in when i was in Blackburn such a shame, keep that one in the centre and open one on the outskirts. Very Sad

Marks and spencers should stay in the town centre as it is easy access for all its customers. Moving to the Frontier park is a disadvantage for those who dont have cars.

Ebrahim Sidat (Blackburn , 2023-11-30)

#104

NO!!!! NOT THE MARKS AND SPENCER!!!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖

Jin Parker (London, 2023-12-01)

#105

M&S is the main store I visit in blackburn, the town will lose many customers if this store closes, it will not be good for the town.

Alison Benson (Blackburn, 2023-12-01)

#108

I want M &S to stay in Blackburn Town centre,if it moves out of town how are all the pensioners supposed to buy their little meals etc, not everybody has a car ! It will be the death of Blackburn !!

Julie Farrer (Blackburn, 2023-12-07)

#109

It needs to stay in the centre of Blackburn for staff or if it does move it needs a cafe with it
