Smith Rd Park for all

Signage has recently been installed at the Community Park in Smith Road, Plumstead, stating that dog owners can no longer let their dogs offlead in the enclosed park. They are also prevented from entering the park with their dogs during weekdays between 16:00 and 18:00 - times, which for the past six years have been a customary period for all to meet.

As responsible dog owners, we want the park to:

Be a place that all community members can use. This means ensuring that all dog owners are required to pick up their dogs' mess, as well as ensure their dogs do not behave aggressively;

Encourage like-minded community members and their dogs to join us during the allocated time period;

Ultimately, increase Plumstead's community involvement through the responsible and considerate meeting of residents and their dogs in an enclosed public space.

We recognise that the park should be available to all community members to use, and would therefore like to appeal this decision to ensure that all community members who would like to make use of the park can do so responsibly, by making the park 'offlead' for dogs between 17:30 and 19:00 on weekday evenings.
