Springboks Victory Parade

IMG_3950.jpegNelson Mandela Bay (Gqeberha/Despatch/Kariega) have been left out of the 4 Time Rugby World Cup Champions victory parade after winning the 2023 Webb Ellis trophy back to back.

From a historical and location point of view it is not well thought through as Captain Siya Kolisi hails from Zwide, Gqeberha, Director Rassie Erasmus was born in Provincial Hospital, Kariega formerly Uitenhage and raised in Despatch while the composer of our National Anthem "Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika" was born in Kwanobuhle, Kariega and these 3 places form the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality with its rich history.

The support shown to our beloved Springboks in the NMB was immense and its only appropriate that while the hype around winning back to back titles, the whole Squad should tour and parade the Webb Ellis trophy while the players and coaching staff are still a unit.

This petition therefore appeals to SARU, SA Rugby, Minister of Sport, EP Rugby and the MEC of Sport Eastern Cape to strongly consider including NMB in the Victory parade plans upon the return of the Squad and we are will to wait until the planned tours are concluded and happy to see the team in the week following the the official parades.

We call on all Springbok supporters to sign this petition in solidarity of this humble request.
