Stop Police Animal Brutality!

Hello,
My name is Kirstin Biggs and on October 10, 2014 at approximately 2:45PM my mother Tamantha Lotton came home from work to a Jennings County police officer and their neighbor standing in the next door neighbor's yard and she was informed that her dog had been shot and killed. The dog was let loose because he was left hooked up and his collar was not broken nor was the rope he was hooked to. The police claim that Ivan, the 2 year old dog, was "aggressive" after they had maised him twice in the face and shot him. He was not even 10 feet from the house when shot and was facing towards the house, not where the officer was standing. He was shot twice and the sheriff stated "he was shot once to detain him and shot the second time to put him out of his misery". The animal control was never called and the officer was called to the house knowing the dog was loose. The first question is why was it the officer to "detain" the dog and not animal control which protocol calls for? Why was he unnecessarily killed? We need this aired because the sheriff claims there is nothing he can do. The sheriff was called after the deputy Mike M. left the scene and stated, "I understand the situation, but I was not here". We asked for an investigation and no response was given. We have called animal control and had it proven there was no call made about the dog. I will be sending pictures and the subject of the email will be "Ivan". I hope you can help my family get the justice they deserve for this animal cruelty because today, they lost a member of their family. When my three year old sister arrives home she will be told that Ivan was shot by the police that are supposed to be tho good guys. Where is the humanity in this situation?

Please, help us,
Kirstin Biggs
