Stop Sign for Barnes Road Residents

For years residents on and around Barnes Road in Woodstock, Georgia have had issues with large numbers of traffic due to growth in the community and people taking short cuts off of Trickum Road and Arnold Mill Road. People regularly are ignoring the moderate speed limit of 35 MPH, and even fewer realize the Blind Drive sign hidden under the overgrowth of trees Cherokee County has yet to keep trimmed on a seasonal basis. We need to install a four-way Stop Sign due to the surplus traffic and the lack of concern for safety of these residents.

Recently my sister was in a car accident while trying to back into the driveway. The other driver had full visibility coming down the hill but refused to stop. Due to the poor judgement of the attending police officer at the scene, my sister was ticketed even though she was not at fault. If my sister had not tried to back into the driveway and pulled in front ways, she would have still had to back out into the road later when she had to leave for work. Barnes Road is a very dangerous road to back out onto. There have been numerous wrecks over the past fifteen years caused by disrespectful drivers exceeding the speed limit and showing no concern for the residents. One year, we were hit in the rear end for simply pulling into our driveway.

With the new construction for a subdivision on Barnes Road, we will be having that much more issues with speeders, thru traffic, and obvious congestion of the road. Please help us get a four-way Stop Sign installed on Barnes Road before a fatality happens. Traffic is becoming more ridiculous and hazardous; the safety of my family and other residents' families is literally at stake with this situation.
