Stop the euathanization of innocent animals with simple steps

  1. Every day over 9,000 innocent shelter animals are euthanized each year simply due to the fact that shelters have no room or they look agressive. Many shelters consider "agressive" to be jumping too much or barking but both are common signs of anxiety , stress , and or excitement. These animals are being brought into shelters or surrendered over and being euthanized just because shelters are over crowded .Statistics say that 64% of people out of 1,500 randomly selected U.S. citizens say that they'd be more likely to adopt if the fees weren't outrageous. Dog adoption fees can be as much as $600 and cat adoption fees can be as much as $250. That high price sometimes doesn't even include their spaying/neutering, shots, and the basic necessities that they will need.  If lowering the cost just a little meant more adoptions , we would be saving hundreds of innocent animals lives and the shelter wouldn't be effected much by the decline in fees considering more would be adopted. Along with the lower fees should come a required pet handling and obedience class. If more people knew how to correctly handle and train their pets , less animals would be surrendered to the shelter due to "unruliness" . When pets are surrendered after getting to know their handlers, they become anxious of their new surroundings and tend to bark and maybe even growl and this is considered aggressive behavior in a shelter. The pets aren't aggressive , just scared , but they're required to be euthanized for exhibiting a natural behavior. Imagine living everyday of your life in a small kennel , scared and lonely. These animals spend everyday wondering when their forever home is going to come. Hundreds of people walk by their cage and they get their hopes up only to have a staff member finally let them out just to be taken into the back room and to be euthanized. Their last moments are spent scared, alone , and helpless and YOU can change this.
