Tired of the killings!

MEMORANDUM OF DEMANDS

Led by Women Taking Back Safety Movement

To: The MEC for Transport and Community Safety Limpopo, Mme.

Mavhungu-Lerule Ramakhanya

CC:  The Minister of Police: Mr. Bheki Cele

We, the women of Limpopo, being anxious about the safety of our women and children and having had enough of the continued violence meted out against women, children and senior citizens in cities, towns and rural areas, namely:torture, rape, child molestation and murder. Women Taking Back Safety demand that NO BAIL be granted to all killers, farm murderers, rapists and women and child abusers.

Our women and children are not protected enough because our law is lenient towards criminals. We demand that the courts listen to us. We are in pain while the killers are roaming the streets!

We demand justice for:

Precious Ramabulana

Ruth Manganyi

Mabereki Molamudi

Grace Mudau

Tshidi Mocheko

Kagiso Kale

Kgaogelo Shai

Hettie Deacon

Lizette Deacon

Jacoba Grobler

Martha Makhuabane

We further demand:

1. NO BAIL at any time of the trial, for any of the suspects in the murder of Lizette and Hettie Deacon as well as the suspects in all other cases of murder of Limpopo women and children.
2. The prioritising of the arrest of other murderers of women and children in the Province, who are still at large.
3. That the 72 hours priority activation and investigation in the murder of women and children will be applied in every instance, across the Province, regardless of district, or municipality.
4. NO BAIL at any time for rapists and childmolesters, facing trial from the first day of arrest.
5. An intensified fight against drug dealers and traffickers in Limpopo, whom we believe are contributing to the spate of crimes against women, children and other vulnerable citizens.
6. Intensified, priority investigations into missing women and children.
7. Intensified police presence in rural areas to avoid attacks on vulnerable citizens.
8. Intensified visibility and presence of police in all hotspots identified.
9. Deportation of all non-documented citizens who are found guilty with a sentence that must be served in their own countries – not at our expense with our tax money.
10. That a series of operations are conducted with immigration and municipalities in all extensions where most of illegal immigrants are renting or occupying RDP houses illegally and running businesses in areas that are not rezoned for business.
11. That offenders be vetted to check for outstanding cases against them and if found to be a second or third time offender of the same crime, the suspect not be given bail of less than  R10 000.
