Unemployed educators

Over the decades it was known that if you have an Education qualification you are most likely employable and wouldn’t be out of work for long because there was a shortage of teachers in schools. There was somewhat a balance in the demand and supply of teachers in the profession. More recently, there is an influx of teacher graduates and schools do not have enough capacity to absorb them. In addition, teacher graduates can be without work for even five years.the department has hired assistant teachers who were not qualified. There’s a shortage of teachers yet a lot of us who are qualified are unemployed. There’s also an age restriction meaning as professional teachers above 35 years we no longer qualify as assistant teachers. Previously we asked the department to consider us, but we are still unemployed, therefore as graduates  we are demanding transparency and equal employment for all unemployed qualified teachers. We are also demanding to be employed  with a reasonable wage.
