Urgent Action Needed: Shift College Lectures to Mornings or Online Due to Severe Heat Waves

We, the undersigned students of KES' Shri Jayantilal H. Patel Law College, bring forth this petition urgently addressing the dire need for a change in our college lecture timings or a transition to online lectures due to the ongoing severe heat waves experienced in Mumbai and across Maharashtra during the month of April.

The current schedule of afternoon lectures of students, has resulted in classes being held during peak temperatures, exacerbating health risks for students commuting to and from college. The scorching heat not only poses health hazards but also significantly impacts concentration and academic performance due to discomfort and exhaustion caused by excessive sweating and dehydration.

We, firmly advocate for the following measures:

1. Shift Morning Lectures: We request the college administration to reschedule lectures for all second-year students to mornings, allowing us to avoid the peak heat hours and ensuring a safer commute to and from college.

2. Transition to Online Lectures: Alternatively, we urge the college to facilitate online lectures during this period of extreme weather conditions. This will not only prioritize the health and well-being of students but also ensure uninterrupted learning without compromising academic progress.

It is imperative for the college administration to acknowledge the severity of the situation and take proactive steps to safeguard the health and academic interests of its students. By implementing the proposed measures, the college will demonstrate its commitment to prioritizing student welfare and fostering a conducive learning environment.

We, the undersigned students, hereby pledge our support for this petition and urge all fellow students to join us in advocating for this urgent change.
