Teresa Millwood #1 for Mayor!

2024-02-20 20:11:54

As most of you already know, Teresa Millwood will be running for Mayor for the Cassowary Coast Regional Council in the upcoming March Election!

Teresa was 1 of 2 Councillors who stood up for every voice on the Cassowary Coast Bring Back Cash Petition! The biggest petition ever submitted to the Cassowary Coast Council, in history, with over 5500+ signatures of support! Yet the petition was acknowledged, it was ignored and rudely dismissed by the current Mayor, Mark Nolan!

The replay can be watched here 👇 from the 28min mark: https://cassowarycoast.civicclerk.com.au/web/Mobile/MobileVideo.aspx?id=1332 of Nolan's complete dismissal of our petition and all of YOUR signatures and his smugness to all of those in the gallery that day!

We ask that you don't forget this come voting day!!

If you can help Teresa with her campaign who is currently asking for support for volunteers for pre-polling from the 4th to 16th March between the hours of 9am to 5pm.

If you can contribute any time handing out flyers, please email us at cassowarycoastactionnetwork@proton.me so we can get you on the roster.

Any amount of help, big or small, will be greatly appreciated!

Warm regards,

The Cassowary Coast Action Network

CEO's revised amendments

2023-08-12 23:24:05
Our Cassowary Coast Councillor's are seeking the communities opinion in regards to the CEO's revised amendments and if their constituents are satisfied.  The only change that was made was to offer concession card holders free photocopying and laminating (10 sheets per year)

CCAN know that the CEO has once again missed the mark, big time.  However silence is consent so unless the public write in to their Councillor's it will be assumed that the public is happy.

Please write into your Councillors and have your say!

Cr Mark Nolan, Mayor mayor@ccrc.qld.gov.au

Online Petition is now Closed

2023-08-01 10:08:44

Thank you ALL!!!!  But even good things must come to an end.  We want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who has signed our online Cassowary Coast Bring Back Cash Petition, for those who spent a moment to write a comment, also muchly appreciated and of course, anyone who shared with friends and family.

We WILL be submitting the Petition in the coming days and CCRC from there will let us know if our Petition will reach the table at the August 24th or September 28th meeting.  We will keep you all updated as we need as many present for the vote.  So far, Councillors Nolan, Barnes, Tschui, Baines are supporting of the CEO's revised amendments.  CCAN do not believe these amendments are satisfactory in any shape or form.  It's actually quite disappointing that after much contact with the CEO and Mayor, that they have completely missed the point to this extreme.

The CEO's adjustments to cashless are-
Council will continue to accept Australian banknotes and coins as well as EFTPOS payments at all transfer stations across the Cassowary Coast
Approve an amendment to the 2023/24 Fees and Charges to provide for 'Free of Charge' printing at all Council Libraries for eligible concession card holders (10 pages/year)

What hasn't changed-
Rates, Dog Registration, Council License's including Food (markets) still can not be paid by cash at CCRC.
Photocopies, Laminating, Coffee still cannot be paid by cash at Libraries.
Future CCRC Events will still not accept cash.

THANK YOU to Cr Teresa Millwood for opposing and not able to support the CEO's sugar coating amendments.  Please note - Cr McLeod and Pervan were absent and we are hoping that both of them will support the public to reinstate cash.

Cairns successfully reinstated cash with just under 3% of their regions support.  As we busily collect all our petitions from the 110 local supporting businesses, our figures are close to hitting the 15% that have signed our petition.  Awesome work Cassowary Coast and something our Councillors can think about with an election looming close in March 2024!!!

Keep you posted!!!
