#2

Stupid decision who ever made it should be sacked.

Robert Anderson (Innisfail, 2023-05-16)

#3

I believe that legal tender includes and should continue to include cash. Many charities would fail to thrive without gold coin donations and cent sales and the like. When the electricity fails, only cash is king.

Jillian Cable (Tully, 2023-05-16)

#4

Cash,, not control

Christina Mcgill (Carmoo, 2023-05-16)

#5

Cash is legal tender so I should have the right to pay with cash. I don't believe going cashless is in the best interests of our country and I hope and pray it never happens!

Tanya Edgerton (Bombeeta , 2023-05-16)

#6

I do not agree with a cashless council and this was brought in by the CEO who is not an elected member of council, this should be voted on by councillors

Stephen Accatino (Innisfail , 2023-05-16)

#7

I do not believe in a cashless society. Cash is legal tender !!

Marilyn Schofield (Innisfail , 2023-05-16)

#9

the power goes off, we have cyclones, my bank is closed down, we have markets, its legal tender!! And crikey get it together!

Karen Howell (Mission Beach, 2023-05-16)

#10

We have the right to choose what legal tender we will use at a facility that should be working for us the people

Jeanette Lamb (Mission Beach, 2023-05-16)

#12

michael newton (Innisfail , 2023-05-16)

Cash has always been legal tender... no one has the right to change that just because they want to.

Ahna Kaihe (Innisfail, 2023-05-17)

#17

I think it's wrong not to accept legal tender

Shirleen Sacchi (Innisfail, 2023-05-17)

#19

Cash is legal tender and the Council does virtually nothing for us in any case.

Claudia Oldano (Mourilyan, 2023-05-17)

#20

I believe that we should never do away with cash. We already have lost so many things we took for granted and our elderly like to deal with cash

Gail Blake (Tully, 2023-05-17)

#22

I do not support a cashless system

David Harding (East Innisfail , 2023-05-17)

#23

Cash is a legal tender and is to be accepted in the country of Australia. Not accepting cash goes against Australian laws. Which means the cassowary coast council are breaking the law.

Sienna Posso (Innisfail Estate , 2023-05-17)

#27

Cash is legal tender and needs to be excepted by all business.

Edward Howkee (Tully , 2023-05-17)

#28

I believe in cash !

Valerie Boll (El Arish, 2023-05-17)

#29

This is just one more nail in the coffin of freedom of choice and an attempt by big corporations. banks, pollies and the like to control our every move and monitor our spending habits all for the benefit of the New World Order!

Barbara Davies (Wongaling Beach, 2023-05-17)

#30

I believe we need to avoid the cashless society, every cashless transaction gives the bank a .25 to 3% slice of the transaction and means we are becoming just another statistic to be controlled and measured. Legal currency must remain a means of conducting any transaction

Bruce Jones (EAST INNISFAIL, 2023-05-17)

#32

The decision is biased

Lynne Hoare (TULLY HEADS, 2023-05-17)

#33

I do not agree with this decision

Kerrie Edwards (Tully, 2023-05-17)

#34

I am signing this as I believe that where we live in our small town we still need cash paying for things at the markets and garage sales and quite a few other things as well.

Cherie Harrison (Mourilyan, 2023-05-17)

#36

The public should be able to pay for goods and services with cash if they wish. It’s legal tender. Can’t believe it’s even needing to be discussed.

Kaylee Simpson (Innisfail, 2023-05-17)

#38

Cash is cash and I should be able to pay my rates my way not have some person dictate the
Way I pay

Maryann Bishop-Neilsen (Innisfail, 2023-05-17)

#41

My elderly mother pays all her bills using cash and it causes her great stress when she can't as she has no card. For myself I use both and I don't appreciate not being given a choice.

Liz Fabian (Innisfail , 2023-05-17)

#44

i care

Mary Hackett brooks (Machans, 2023-05-17)

#46

I'm signing because the use of cash as legal tender is a fundamental right and must be supported by CCRC. I agree with all aspects of the petition.

Marianne Scott (Mission Beach , 2023-05-17)

#48

Australia is still a democracy and cash is legal tender.

Dawn Gaia (Boogan, 2023-05-17)

#49

People should have a choice cash or card as Australia is a democratic country, where local councils are elected by the people for the people. Not dictatorships.

Neville Gaia (Innisfail , 2023-05-17)

#51

Cash is legal tender and would cost less to council than cards.

Barbara Shephard (East Palmerston, 2023-05-17)

#52

It's a backward step not to be able to use cash to pay accounts. Internet goes down nothing can be done .places close there doors. It cripples us. We should have a choice.

Dianne Bach (Cardwell, 2023-05-17)

#55

I am a business owner with many business partners in the Cassowary Coast Region. I strongly oppose the decision to go cashless. While the intention may be to modernize the economy, it fails to consider the practical implications for businesses like mine. Natural disasters, such as cyclones or power outages, frequently occur in our area, disrupting electronic payment systems. Going cashless would leave businesses and customers stranded without a reliable means of transactions during these crucial times.

Moreover, implementing a cashless system could lead to discrimination against certain members of our community who may not have access to digital payment methods or are uncomfortable using them. This exclusionary approach goes against the principles of inclusivity and equal opportunities that should be upheld in our society.

Instead of forcing a cashless system, the focus should be on improving the existing payment infrastructure while maintaining the option of cash transactions. This way, businesses can adapt to changing times without sacrificing accessibility and reliability. Let's prioritize the needs of all businesses, customers, and community members to ensure a thriving and equitable local economy.
Bring back payment options to the Cassowary Coast Regional Council!

Birgit Machnitzke (Trinity Beach, 2023-05-18)

#56

Cash is still legal tender

Caryn Quinn (Mission Beach, 2023-05-18)

#57

It goes against our democratic rights to have a choice to use leagal tender. Not to mention the Ceo of a council does NOT LEAGALY have the right to implement such changes as it is a mater that should be put to a public meeting so the constituents of the community can have a say then voted on by elected councillors representing the veiws of the community. They Council is employed by they rate payers for the rate payers NOT to be dictated to by corrupt councils who are NOT a teir of government.

Michael Sexton (Mareeba, 2023-05-18)

#58

No Council has the right to refuse cash payments. Who gave them permission to make these decisions without asking the people who actually pay for them to be in their jobs.

Deanna Rankin (Ravenshoe, 2023-05-18)

#59

I believe non-elected CEO's should not be able to solely administer "cash not accepted" decision. This should be discussed and voted by the elected Councillors after consultation with rate payers.

Susan Wright (Cairns, 2023-05-18)

#62

We own a house in south mission beach, and we regularly stay there. We will be retiring there in another year or two,and we are absolutely opposed to a cashless society or business. We do not want cassowary coast council to be cashless.

Jacqueline Nakovics (Cairns, 2023-05-18)

#63

Cash is and should always be legal tender. Cash also prevents self appointed rulers having totalitarian control through absolute power over digital accounts. We don't need to be assessed for 'social credit' from people who have no credibility.

Mike Bonaccorso (Innisfail, 2023-05-18)

#64

We have just been through this with Cairns Regional Council and we, the people, had the decision to go cashless reversed. Every resident deserves the option of how to pay to use Council facilities and cashless denies vulnerable people that choice.

Julie Mudry (Cairns, 2023-05-18)

#65

It is an inalienable right to use , silver , gold and cash to purchase goods or the use of services provided by Local Council Corporations

Michael Jenkins (Gordonvale , 2023-05-18)

#66

Sick of government overreach.

Peter Nebe-kerridge (Webb, 2023-05-18)

Sonya Taylor (Mission Beach, 2023-05-18)

#68

Cash is legal tender..isbuser friendly for all ages
Council facilities are paid for by rate payers so should have the remaining vote

Louise Reid (Cairns, 2023-05-18)

#69

Because I would prefer using cash. During cyclones , all the atm is down, how do we buy food ??? We have natural disasters every year.
In FNQ , It’s only smart business to have Manuel process in place !

Roshni Howard (Cairns , 2023-05-18)

Voski Voski (Cairns, 2023-05-18)

I'm a Cassowary Coast ratepayer and cash is still legal tender. I will not be bullied.

Vikki Galipo (Innisfail , 2023-05-18)

#87

Cash is legal. I do not agree with taking away cash as a form of payment.

Kylie Ladlow (El arish , 2023-05-19)

#88

I refuse to comply with living in a clown world.

Sam Kingston (Mighell, 2023-05-19)

#93

I believe the decision to not accept cash payments at Council impacts our youth, the vulnerable, is disciminative, unpractical, undemocratic and controlling.

Leah Isenbert (Innisfail , 2023-05-19)

#94

Cash is legal tender.

Patricia Brooker (Jubilee Heights, 2023-05-19)

#95

Carmina Locastro (Innisfail, 2023-05-20)

#96

I want to see cash still to be used.

Rosalie Fulwood (Innisfail , 2023-05-20)

#98

Cash is legal tender and cannot be refused in any establishment......

Janice Devlin (Innisfail , 2023-05-20)

#101

I'm signing this petition, because I believe the council has no right to stop its residents from using legal tender, in any payment they may need to make at any council office.

Lynne Jackson (Innisfail , 2023-05-21)

#103

We the people are sick of being trampled on by corporations and demand the retention of our legal currency to trade!

Jan Cram (Murbah, 2023-05-21)

#105

I believe people have the right to choose to pay in cash if they wish too. Cash is required in natural disasters when all systems are down.
Cash is legal, stop taking peoples choices away!

Kelly Turner (Mission Beach, 2023-05-21)

#109

Because it is more reliable easy to use and there are no third-party fee Banks etc., It is legal tender and I have the right to chose and that is why you must hold a referendum and ask We the people what we want and it must not conflict with federal law

Yvette :Reiman (Mission Beach, 2023-05-22)

#111

We have to start to fight laws we don’t approve or want, being made by people who are not affected by the outcomes of their in democratic decisions.
We are paying overinflated salaries to people not in touch with the real world, and keeping their positions of power safe by not being accessible or accountable.

Louise Wone (Mourilyan, 2023-05-22)

#112

I am a rate payer and was not consulted about any change, nor was I given the opportunity to vote. We didn’t vote for the CEO to make decisions on our behalf.
I do not agree with a cashless society.

Jean Payne (Innisfail, 2023-05-22)

#113

I dont want to see the fall of our society without cash. I want to be able to give my grand kids pocket money and pay the tooth fairy as well as visit markets and support small farmers and road side stalls like i always have. I dont want a government entity to see where i spend my every dollar and track my every movement. I want to be able to have the option to pay my bills in cash if its neccessary. I want to pay my rates in cash also. Please Cassowary Coast. Do whats right for all our futures and stand against whats coming.

Jasmine Sheridan (Mission Beach, 2023-05-22)

#115

I want cash back

Surena Devillers (Innisfail, 2023-05-22)

#118

Cash is a legal tender that shouldn’t be removed as a way to pay

Alana Moyle (Mourilyan, 2023-05-22)

#121

It is ludicrous for the CCRC to expect the public to make small payments at the library and the Information with a card! Not everyone uses or travels around with a card for everyday expenses.

Ann Brink (Tully Heads, 2023-05-22)

#122

I want to be able to pay $2 cash at the library for a coffee. I believe cash is a healthy economical feature.

Yulia Collins (Bingil Bay, 2023-05-23)

#124

We need to bring money back into the town our town is dying and the council get higher wages so our rates go up we have had enough Employ locals keep the money in the town

Helen Sharp (Goondi Bend, 2023-05-23)

#125

Cash is an important part to the fabric of our society. All councils should support such fundamental transaction options.

Mel Bowman-Finn (Bingil Bay , 2023-05-23)

#126

I’m signing this because it is my will to use our country’s legal tender fir any and all payments and it is very wrong when our own political system won’t honour and accept legal tender as a form of payment.

Karen Benn (Innisfail, 2023-05-24)

#127

Cash payments should be in-instated at all cassowary coast facilities.

Krystal Mcswan (Eubenangee, 2023-05-24)

#128

Australian currency is what we work to earn and spend. It is ridiculous for our local Council to refuse Australian legal tender. And it is very much anti the wider community to join the move to a cashless society. It makes collecting money for scouts or football club raffles or buying a poppy on Anzac Day, etc next to impossible for many people and for those charities as well. And when a cyclone hits and there is no power and no satellite links, cash is the only acceptable and usable method of payment. You must accept cash.

Boyd Scott (Silkwood, 2023-05-24)

#129

Cash is still legal tender

Shane Kelly (Mourilyan, 2023-05-24)

#130

Bedeliah Mallett (Wulguru, 2023-05-25)

#145

Kevin Conoplia (Tolga, 2023-05-25)

#146

Cash is our legal tender.

Janine Chambers (Cairns , 2023-05-25)

#147

I'm signing this petition because this is our legal tender and it's many uses that is in the public interest.
If you dictate your terms of payment that excludes cash you, our duly elected council by the people for the people are forcing us to pay more money to the banks and corporations, that may be against our will. This also may be a precursor to other corporate power agendas, which i do not consent.
This may seem trivial to some, but we do not want to lose our right to pay cash as our legal right.
Yesterday an eftpos machine wasn't working and cash was required. It would have hurt the small business if I was unable to go to an ATM to withdraw cash.
I am urging your council to respect the wishes of our regional communities by continuing our right to pay by cash.
I pay the children cash for presents to put to things they may need. Thankyou for listening
Yours sincerely

Because we should have a choice how we want to pay!

Kellee Martorella (Cairns , 2023-05-25)

#149

Cash is king. Don't take peoples rights away to pander to the banking and government sector. Freedom is the ability to choose what payment method suits you best. It's not your choice to decide that right.

Janice Clothier (Townsville, 2023-05-25)

#150

Linda Wilsin (Cairns, 2023-05-25)

Liz Harris (Cairns, 2023-05-26)

#191

Bring back Cash to the council's facilities! It's legal tender, and the only choice when the internet is down. The unelected CEO bureaucrat needs to listen to concerned councillors and ratepayers, instead of being influenced by the puppet government from Brisbane.

Frankie Hogan (Cairns , 2023-05-26)

#193

No to cashless

Vicky Marshall (Cairns, 2023-05-26)

#194

Cash is legal tender.

Donnalee Lund (Cardwell , 2023-05-26)

#195

People need to have a choice of any legal tender, councillors need to be able to vote on this, not be told what is happening and using the excuse it is a so called ‘risk’ is utter nonsense implying the residents are stupid! Please do the right thing and reverse this decision.

Pauline Young (Wondecla, 2023-05-26)

#199

My husband and I just moved here from Cairns, where the Council CEO there tried to do the same thing. People power overturned her decision after thousands of individuals stood up for their democratic rights and made the council aware of their opposition to a cashless council. We did not move here to be subjected to the same thoughtless lack of regard for constituants and ratepayers.

Kerri Rosenthal (Mission Beach, 2023-05-26)
