Update on progress and validation of residence postcode for Wokingham Borough Council

2023-09-28 14:49:47

Dear signatories

Thank you for your support for this petition which is having positive results.

On 5th September I met with Cllr Guy Gillbe, Executive member of Bracknell Forest Council for Planning and Transport, Cllr Tina McKenzie-Boyle, Bracknell Forest Borough Representative on Crowthorne Parish Council and CPC Cllr Peter Wood to discuss the petition, with regard to the Integrated Transport plan for the Borough. Both councils are fully in support of providing a bus service to include the Crowthorne Station area, although the logistics of this are complex when taking into account provision of bus services by the bus company(s), other neglected areas, and cross border cooperation with Wokingham Borough. Nevertheless, the councillors were committed to meeting this need and it will be included in the Integrated Transport Plan.

I also presented the petition to the meeting of Wokingham Borough Council on the 21st September. In the petition, you identified your town of residence. Many of you who actually live in a Wokingham Parish (e.g. Finchampstead or Wokingham Without) may have specified "Crowthorne". If you did this, please can you let me know your postcode, which is required by Wokinghame Borough Council to make the petition valid to be carried forward with them. If you have not already done so, I would be grateful if you could reply to me giving your email address and postcode.

Thank you.

Presentation to BFC meeting postponed

2023-09-04 16:50:40

I'm afraid I missed the deadline of 10 am today for submissions for the BFC meeting on the 13th Sept so I will now be presenting the petition to BFC on Nov 29th although I will be at the CPC meeting tomorrow and WBC on 21st Sept.

Presentation to councils

2023-09-04 12:15:09

Thank you for your support for this cause which attracted over 400 signatures. I will be presenting our case for a bus to service Crowthorne station at the Parish Council meeting tomorrow (5th), Bracknell Forest Council on the 13th and Wokingham Borough Council on the 21st.

We are aware there is already support from the councils for this and hope they can use the petition to help persuade the bus company that it will be a viable proposition.

Best wishes

Ian Spurrier.

Crowthore Bus - Progress report

2023-07-20 14:45:29

Thank you for your support by signing the petition. The petition has been recognised by Bracknell, Wokingham and Crowthorne councils, and the subject has already been discussed by Bracknell and Crowthorne councils.

Crowthorne Parish Council has indicated that it supports the request for a bus link, it is already in the Crowthorne Neighbourhood Plan and Three Year Strategy Plan. CPC will also participate in the BFC transport strategy review in this regard when it launches.

We now have over 350 signatures but the more we get the more evidence we will have of the need for this service, so please continue to share it around. I will present the petition at a meeting of Crowthorne Parish Council on 5th September, Bracknell Forest Council on 13th September and Wokingham Borough Council on 21st September. If you could attend the meetings to support me it would help me and put more weight behind the movement. Details are on their respective websites.

Thank you
Ian Spurrier.
