Bariatric patients matter

This petition is three fold

1.  To give Bariatric patients a voice

2.  For government and ALL state hospitals to recognize the absolute necessity for Bariatric surgery, which in many instances,  is not financially accessible to the man on the street.

3.  To RE-OPEN the bariatric unit at Tygerberg to allow them to continue serving the hundreds of patients on the waiting list and to continue the post op care for patients who have already had surgery

Bariatric surgery is life saving surgery in more ways than one.  Besides the obvious physical changes being weightloss and a general acceptance by society at large, there are many health benefits attached to this surgery too.

This plea goes out to every pre and post op patient  and to every family watching a loved one struggling on a day to day basis as a result of this disease.  There are collectively literally thousands of patients on waiting lists at government hospitals and many patients who have benefited by their surgery at government hospitals.

Today, I am asking each and every one of you to stand in solidarity with me by signing this petition  so that this community can be heard by government.  We count, we need medical intervention and we need to have a chance at life.

This plea is for ALL bariatric patients (not just government or private).

Today we are paving the path for ALL future patients and today we are becoming history makers for this community.
