To preserve the life of a beautiful wild animal. Authorities should maintain the fences rather than kill the lion.

Who are we to decide he must now die because we can't keep him in his cage (be it a big one). Rather relocate him to a bigger or even just a better park. Surely there are better solutions!!

Because I despise the I'll treatment of animals

This is a disgrace! Perhaps we should cull those in management responsible for the deterioration of the infrastructure that has failed this lion. If a Chef's pot had a hole in it that causes the sauce to drip on the floor and cause a hazard, you don't kill the Chef for endangering his colleagues... you fix the hole in the pot!

Why must a wild animal be put down because it's doing what is natural instinct....born to be wild...humans can be very selfish, cold and callous

This is a lion, being a lion. Move him somewhere else. Do not kill!

I signed the petition because I as many others feel it is outrageous to shoot an animal due to human negligence! Sylvester did nothing wrong except what any other captive animal would do if given an open gate! We will boycott Sanparks should Sylvester be killed and I will make it my personal mision to bring this murder under international attention!

It is due to human negligence that Sylvester was able to escape. He should not be euthanised because he's a 'problem'. SANParks created this situation and they have to rectify it.

Sylvester is a free spirit. He is not doing anything wrong in his world. Release him in the Kruger National Park where he can roam freely.

Because it's more the Park's fault. Maybe if you keep the fences into shape, he won't escape

Putting the animal down is cruel. where it is currently kept is not its natural habitat so of course it will escape. also it is not the animal's fault that the fence is damaged. Cruelty to animals is a sin...the bible says so.

The lion is an animal. In nature it is supposed to roam free. It didn't do anything wrong. Why must it be killed. The fences are not maintained. The management of that institution should be fined or punished. Shame on you people! Animals are exploited in many ways for the sake of putting money into peoples pockects. Keep your fences in good shape! Very irresponsible if wild animals are your business! KARMA WILL GET YOU!

Please find a sanctuary for this poor animal! Why must we always kill them?

Sylvester is not the problem. People are the problem. Fix the fence!

Its unfair to take an animals life that belongs in the wild. We live in their kingdom, not the other way round!!

Why killing an innocent young healthy animal ????
Surely he can be relocated where he can'r break free. Easy as that.

no animal should be killed if its owner cant look after it. There are lots of institutions willing to take him, make him the leader and he will stay. He is so beautiful

Sylvester can be relocated to a more secure park e.g. Pilanesberg!!

For goodness sake why kill the animal. He escaped due to HUMAN error (broken fence) dart him and just remove tO a more convenient safer place

To save the animal from being put down because of some people's inability to fix a broken fence....crazy

because I love all creatures big and small and this lion did not ask to be in the position it is now, being hunted down only to be put down. I hope it can be released back into a large, large area, with secure fencing. Why were the fences not secured in the first place? Innocent people are not put down, so why an animal??
