The 401 simcoe bus will still go down to the lake.  The bus change is between First ave and Wentworth street.  It will travel via Ritson rd., between First ave and Wentworth. It will be a longer bus ride, and for the people living in the area between First ave. And Wentworth, on Simcoe st, they will  have to walk to either Ritson rd  or a bus stop closet for them to catch the 401 Simcoe bus...

I signed this petition because I walk with a cane and find it hard to walk long distances so changing the 401 Simcoe route would make it more difficult for me to get around and in the winter it would be even more difficult.I use the transit system because it is my way of getting from one place to another other then using a taxi service . So changing the Simcoe bus route will just make it harder for me .

I have taken the buses in Oshawa for years: to get to home from high school, to go to college and university, and during field placements. The system is riddled with more problems then I can even write about but removing a huge part of the Simcoe service would be horrible. I already know what it's like to walk 15 minutes in the winter to catch the Simcoe bus (I live closer to Ritson where the bus doesn't run up Ritson but on Simcoe) and it is horrible. I never would want anyone with small children or the elderly to do so as well. We need more routes and more service, not less. The DRT needs to take a page from the TTC with routes and service. Give us more not less.

Because I'm a daily commuter and I rely on DRT. Please do a thorough experimental before you proceed to this changes. Not good at all. Not fair at all!

just a question, how far is her walk going  be to get the next stop? Is there another route going to accommodate those who currently use this route?

Simcoe at that area, is that the really crappy unsafe driving  part that keeps getting chewed up?

Again, just asking

I realize that it can't be an easy task for the DRT to keep up with the ever changing needs of a growing city, but this isn't exactly a new route that has to deal with a housing boom up on Grandview north! It seems that people that are dealing with price increases every year should receive better services, not a reduction.

For anyone doing transit, and have no other way to
get about.

This bus has been a constant for many many years.
Many need the existing route to get to help agencies.
My concern would be a lot for those that need Pinewood or Glazier med ctr.
= huge anxiety arises to get help when it's harder

because we are seniors and changing the route would cause us to have to walk a great distance in order to go to friend's places

People with no vehicles need to have proper accessibility to their destinations. It's bad enough seeing the DTR raise the fares to the point that the means of transportation is a financial struggle.

I take the bus quite frequently and these changes are horrible

To be devils advocate, the simcoe bus does already leave simcoe street at the lake and goes up cedar to loop back around.

this would not really affect those stops as the simcoe would still pass by them.

yes it does, thats the loop to get back on Simcoe to now go north bound. if it didnt leave simcoe it would drive right into the lake. and all the while it is going through the loop it is dropping people off at home and picking people up who need to get to simcoe.  It has travelled that route over 40 years great route.  i have found out recently its  long long over 40 years it has travelled this route.  The ritson travel is not a loop.  it has no logic to it at all.

yes it will affect those stops.  From First ave. to just south of wentworth st., where ritson will meet simcoe , is  a 2.4 kms distance.

Accessibility to transportation, in order to maintain a sense of independence, is so important to so many.

Durham Transit is, in my opinion, one of the worst transit systems. We pay as much as the ttc but get NOWHERE near the service, the respect, the attention to their job (missing people at stops, arriving late/early to stops). It's disgusting in a region that has more people than Toronto to have a mass transit service as poorly planned, run and organized. I have made up to 8 complaints to the customer service and I have not seen ONE improvement. Durham Transit should be ashamed of themselves.
