I'm of English decent and I knew about this since I can remember, was actually surprised to hear it wasn't well known. Between the forced starvation of the people and the slavery they were forced into at home as well as in the Americas for many years history has failed the people badly.

#154: - I admire you for honesty to clarify your English ancestry and I believe 99.9 % of Irish people like myself would be in agreement.
What happened in Ireland in 1845-48 wasnt caused by the English or British people but by the Government of England at the time.
There can be no justification in the removal of food and food sources from a people. Therein lies the crime. The perpetrators at the time have it on their shoulders.
The truth is crucial here for none of us gain anything by living a lie.
