Hamberg community residents against City Power and constant power outages
To : City Power, City of Johannesburg, Ward 84 Councillors
We, the residents of Hamberg Ward 84, hereby request that the following concerns be addressed in light of recent and countless power outages in the area.
1 - City Power to revert back to previous escalation format, the call centre escalations and other platforms have been identified as incompetent, confusing, time wasting and costing residents and businesses in the area unnecessary expenses to salvage livelihoods.
2 - The recent vandalism of the Mechanical Switching Station causing the Substation to moved into Sentraal is a welcomed relief to curb vandalism but this has also created a nightmare recently is having constant trips and surges and even with weather conditions which never occurred before and we request immediate response in mitigating these outages and what the city is willing to put in place in response to these constant outages.
3 - Exemption in full from loadshedding until the residents affected, have assurances from the entity that the infrastructure will be closely monitored during "high risk" slots and that the necessary safeguards have been put in place to avoid any future unplanned outages, extensive maintenance has been done on the infrastructure of block 12 however, case in point, more outages than electricity.
The City together with the Ward councilor is hereby requested to respond to the above concerns raised within 60 days of receipt of this petition.
In closing, we, as the residents of Hamberg are actively monitoring the City infrastructure by means of street and community groups to alert all stakeholders of potential threats, this was requested by the city itself and we have played our part and now humbly request the city to play their part.
Thank you for your consideration herein and we look forward to engaging with the entity and councillors in putting an end to the matters raised.
