Band is a necessary outlet for many students. It is not a program that should be eliminated.

Kathryne Ellis (Grand Junction , 2020-05-16)

#1203

I’m apart of an amazing band family and I could never imagine being in this situation. This makes me furious.

Kaitlin Johnson (Jensen Beach, 2020-05-16)

#1205

Arts are more important than we realize and deserve to be saved!

Kaitlyn Wincup (Naperville, 2020-05-16)

#1206

I know how band is like a family, and tearing apart family is never healthy, so tearing apart this band is not healthy! ....I think that’s my point

Madeline Zimmerman (Langley, 2020-05-16)

#1210

Band helps students express themselves and should be available at all schools. Although it may be expensive for instruments and equipment, it is well worth it to see students happy everyday.

Sarah Galyon (Oklahoma, 2020-05-16)

#1212

Music is something that is a passion for many and even gives people feel hopeless a place where they fit in. I’m also doing a research paper about how beneficial playing a musical instrument is and it helps kids with diseases such as autism and has long lasting benefits.

Violet Mackavich (Lake Forest , 2020-05-16)

#1213

Band is my life. It keeps me happy and is the reason I have good grades in school. If my school's band program was cut, I wouldn't know what to do with my life. Band is my home. Band is my family.

Kaela Lawson (Wheeling, 2020-05-16)

#1218

I’m signing because music and the arts programs are incredibly important to the development of kids and teens as they grow. Some people excel at sports, but others may not and will need a place to belong.

Ash Carter (Burleson, 2020-05-16)

#1220

The arts matter.

Band is not only an activity that students enjoy, it provides an important outlet for many students that can positively impact their mental, social, and emotional health. Music is a critical part of every child’s education and band plays an important role in delivering music to middle school and high school students.

Aaron Morley (Bethany, Missouri, 2020-05-16)

#1225

I’m signing because everyone deserves to enjoy the educational enriching extracurricular activitie band. Band is more than just an extracurricular to say the least.

Kellinda Reyna (La Blanca , 2020-05-16)

#1226

Band is important to me, and to have something like this happen to a group like this, to have band taken away from them, is unfortunate, and I want to at least TRY to help. I may not know them, but we're a family of rivals, that come together in the end and celebrate each others achievements. I hope this petition is successful. I would hate to lose band entirely.

Chris Copen (Norton, 2020-05-16)

#1227

I'm in band and it has changed my life drastically. Everyone deserves that opportunity.

#1230

I'm signing this petition because band is a program that has been very influential in my friends' lives as well as my own, and such a program shouldn't be cancelled.

Valo Hastings (Moriarty, 2020-05-16)

#1232

Band is one of the best parts about school and shouldn’t have to be canceled. A ton of students love it.

Xander Hoxworth (Ada, 2020-05-16)

#1240

Every school has to have a band program! Band is such an amazing opportunity for students, because they get to experience the magic of being able to play an instrument. I personally don't go to this school, but in my opinion, I think that taking away band will absolutely damage the students creative ability. Band is such an amazing opportunity for students, and it should not be taken away!

Maggie Simons (Spokane, 2020-05-16)

Music is one of the best and most creative parts of life

Ava Wagner (Lake Orion, 2020-05-16)

#1251

I'm signing because band has made an amazing impact on my life. I would not be going to college if not for the opportunities given to me by being in band such as scholarships and gigs and being able to better myself as a player and a person. It is a real life changer and life saver.

Cody Wade (Texarkana, Arkansas, 2020-05-16)

#1256

Band is awesome!

Arden Siadek (Hawthorne, 2020-05-16)

#1257

Music in schools is just as important as GenEd. Taking music programs out of schools is detrimental to the education of the students.

Logan Neises (Truckee, 2020-05-16)

#1258

Im signing because im in the band program through my school and i know how much it has helped me and others and how much joy it’s brought me and i want others to be able to experience the same joy

Donna Michael (Alpharetta, 2020-05-16)

#1266

Music is very important. People in the United States keep thinking music isn't, but for many, it is their life.

Ricardo Hernandez (Laredo, 2020-05-16)

#1267

Band is a creative outlet for many people, as well as a way to destress and improve mental health. Fine arts, like music, are also VERY important for becoming (And staying!) a well rounded individual.

Morgan Evans (Fishers, 2020-05-16)

#1269

Music helps people. It’s a way to get away from our world problems, it’s a hobby, it’s a safe space. So don’t take that away from students. Music is beneficial for students.

Ciera Alkhoury (Martinez , 2020-05-16)

#1277

I’m signing because everyone deserves the right to be in band.

Alex Summers (Raleigh, 2020-05-16)

Because it is completely idiotic to remove the arts/band programs in schools and anyone that thinks they should can speak to me personally

Camden Webb (Teutopolis, 2020-05-16)

#1283

The band is important and should not be cut.

Grace Grasso (Forty Fort, 2020-05-17)

#1288

A band program not only serves to benefit the students involved, through encouraging creativity, dedication, and fellowship, but enriches the surrounding campus as well. The power of music is universal, and any campus or organization lacking a musical outlet is lacking an integral part of life itself.

Jeremy Ketterer (East Stroudsburg, 2020-05-17)

My name is Emma Plunkett, I am 17 years old and from Tulsa Oklahoma.
I’m signing because band has changed my life. I joined band to be able to be a part of the beautiful music I hear, but it turned into so much more. I made friends, (who are now more like family) I learned how to practice and how to be self motivated to do well. I learned discipline and to be a part of something bigger than myself. I learned it’s ok to be competitive as long as you’re supportive. It’s such a beautiful thing. The bond and connection band students make in these years are so so valuable to what makes them great in the future. I have a huge sense of pride for my band program (Union Bands, Tulsa- Oklahoma) because I think they helped make me who I am today. You can’t take away such a valuable program that only makes kids better people.

Emma Plunkett (Tulsa , 2020-05-17)

I love band and everyone should be allowed to experience it

Alexis Gress (St Clair shores, 2020-05-17)

#1296

Band is the most important thing in a lot of student’a lives and it is extremely educational. It is not something you can cut. Would you cut the math department? It’s not an option. Some people want to be engineers and some people want to be musicians. Both are important. Don’t take away someone’s chance to do something they love

Emma Becker (Roseville, 2020-05-17)

#1298

as said in the description, this should not be cancelled because band is such a good outlet and helps so many with both social skills and mental health. band should never be cancelled!

Camden Kay (Russiaville, 2020-05-17)

#1299

No one should be denied the privilege to play an instrument or be in a school band. All schools should have a music program

Tyler Palavicini (Picayune, 2020-05-17)

#1301

Band is an amazing activity and should never be taken away from our schools

Issy Bare (Nebraska City , 2020-05-17)

#1305

Band is more than just a school program. While sports and other clubs may seem to be centered around the team effort, Band creates connections far stronger. Music is the universal language of the human race, and to create music with other human beings is one of the more purest experiences that you can ever be apart of in life. Not to mention, it is scientifically proven (please search it up yourself to verify!) that those who are in music programs have stronger connections between the creative area (frontal cortex) and the problem solving area (prefrontal cortex) of the Brain. It’s not just some intangible connection, musicians physically have stronger neurons and bridges within their brains. So not only do music programs allow the bonding and coalition between students, but it also physically and mentally creates problem solvers and creative thinkers. Don’t cancel band because you can’t pay for it. Chances are, those band students will do whatever they need to to fundraise the money. After all, they made this petition didn’t they?

#1311

No band program should ever be cancelled.

Haley Davis (Colquitt , 2020-05-17)

#1313

I'm signing because I am a band student, and it has been a great way to be with others and be able to work together each year to perform musical pieces that are both large in given effort and organization of the music and the instrumentalists.

Chris L (Oxford, 2020-05-17)

#1314

I am a band person myself and I wouldn't like to see another program go away when band is such an amazing thing for everyone.

Alexandria Kugelman (Anaheim, 2020-05-17)

#1316

Band has a large portion of many student’s fun memories in high school. If administration took that away, it would basically be the emotional equivalent to the whole school if administration cut their football program.

Carmen G (Prairieville, 2020-05-17)

#1318

Music is an essential part of all schools

Erin Zimmerman (Goldsboro , 2020-05-17)

#1319

Music is an incredibly important program to have in schools. It would even be better to turn it into a before or after school program instead of cancelling it all together. Band is like a family and you can’t just take that away.

Ainsley Anderson (Bremerton, 2020-05-17)

#1320

I’m signing because it’s ridiculous to cut the music program at that school. I’m in band at my school and it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Don’t take that away from other kids.

Audry Klein (Madison, 2020-05-17)

#1322

Having a music program is so important in many different ways. You can just cut it out. Gotta help out my fellow band nerds

Meadow Tyrrell (Wilmington de, 2020-05-17)

#1324

Band is a place for musicians to learn, have fun, and make memories. Shutting down the music program won't just make the musicians there not have a program to learn and grow, but have no place for them to express themselves.

Allie Faith (St. Louis, 2020-05-17)

#1325

Band is important.

Sara Bott (Huntsville , 2020-05-17)

#1328

I’m signing bc band band has given a home to me and everyone deserve that opportunity

Lana Novotny (Cheyenne , 2020-05-17)

#1329

Music is vital to society. It’s the universal language and in many places it’s one of the few classes students are able to express themselves. To take that away from them is not fair. In addition to this, music (and the arts in general) enables students to do better in their other classes as well. Basically, taking away music is going to make your students perform poorly (if held to the extreme).

Carleigh Tessereau (Belleville, IL, 2020-05-17)

#1332

I find it saddening that it’s always the fine arts programs that get cut from funding. Band and orchestra has left an impact on so many people who have come to love the field even pursuing it as a career in later life. You learn many vital lessons in music that you can’t get from any other area. Why take that opportunity away?

Mario Shaw (Smyrna, 2020-05-17)

#1333

I just had my first year in a Highschool band and any band for that matter, the way it has impacted me is in ways I could have never known, if my band was taken away I would be horrified and I would not know what to do with myself.

Aiden Monahan (Show Low, 2020-05-17)

#1334

I remember when the band was announced back in my freshman year of 2014 with much pomp and circumstance. Many of my friends were in band and it was amazing for them AND the school. Please reconsider the decision of cutting this part of Wilkes University.

Brian McKenna (Lompoc, 2020-05-17)

#1335

I’m signing this because music is something that should never end; nor should the teaching of it.

Alejandra Whitney (Redmond, 2020-05-17)

band is a valuable experience for all involved, high school is hard enough without disbanding the programs that make an impact!!

#1358

I am signing because no football game is complete without a band. Many people believe that band is not important, yet it teaches you discipline and that one person’s opinion does not always matter. Band help the kids that are “antisocial” and “nerds” to feel like they have a place in this world. So if the school wants to take this away then you must remember that If bands not important then the football team, basketball team, Cheerleaders, and so much more are not important eather.

Natalie Crosby (Vancouver, 2020-05-17)

#1365

I'm signing because no music program should be cut from schools. Music has always helped me get through my life problems and I dont know where I would be if I never picked up the flute. Schools are always complaining about how low our mental health is, well news, taking away the music program isn't going to make that much better. There are people out there where they rely on music as their escape from reality. Music forms everlasting freindships and teaches kids fine motor skills as well as brain development. It developes the brain and stimulates learning in subjects that closley corraspond with music such as science and math. Music also helps to prevent Alzheimer's at a later age. My band director has even inspired myself to go into music education and give people the joy of music that was once given to me.

Lilly Speicher (Reigelsville, 2020-05-17)

I am signing because music is a window to our soul. Music is such an amazing thing and it would be a crime to cut the program. To cut the program would mean that you are cutting the creativity and inspiration in the music world. Please don’t cut the program.

Julia Bradford (Ben Lomond, 2020-05-17)

Band is my outlet and my escape. Not only do I love band because of the memories, music, and friends, but band serves as a break from any other things happening in my life. If I'm stressed out, I know I can walk into band and be ok.

Dorothy Burt (Thompson's Station, TN, 2020-05-17)

#1376

The arts are a huge outlet for many people. Not only is it a huge part of Wilkes University students, but it could lead to the fundamental depletion of musical resources in all of America!

I am a student in a small band program at a big highschool. We are a skeleton crew by numbers, but we work very hard to show that we are a valuable part of the school's community. I don't know what I would do without my band family.

I believe all students should have access to music as it is a passion and a get away from stress and bad in life

Ryan Galvan (La Mirada, 2020-05-17)

#1386

I am a band student and choir student myself. Music is such an important thing and so many kids need it. It helps kids with serious mental and social issues, kids that are victims of abuse and bullying, and gives kids who have no other reason to go to school a reason to get out of bed. Musicians without music lose passion for life.

Caitlyn Foster (Wake Forest, 2020-05-17)

#1387

I’m a Wilkes alumni, class of 09’, and I had participated in various Wilkes music programs. I was even the VP of the football band. I was ecstatic to hear a marching band was starting once I graduated and now this. Why is it music is always the first to go? If the music programs are cut, students are being deprived.

Deidre Filchak (Scranton , 2020-05-17)

Music has been a huge part of my life and 4 years of high school band have given me so many opportunities to make friends. Cutting a music program is a huge mistake and truly holds a negative impact on any institution.
