#2

I am sooooo fed up with no power every single week!
Shame on you for your non providing of essential services!

Cindy Muller (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#3

We struggle with our electricity for more than 3 weeks. Power goes off for hours. It is a constant problem and it seems that the problem don’t get sorted!

Magda Erlank Van Heerden (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#5

The issue needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency. Our business can not operate without a steady supply of electricity.

Andre Rossouw (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#10

I have lost 5 appliances and my geyser with the constant outages. Insurance monies go up, and the electricity bills are shockingly high for just me and my husband. Last month it was almost R10 000! Half the time we are not home, the other half there is no power! This is ridiculous.

Anna Malan (ALBERMALE , 2021-01-25)

#14

We are asked to work from home to keep us safe and those around us safe but we cannot perform our duties to earn a salary with these constant power outages, some for days,12+ hours, days in a row, with no explanation. Utterly absurd and ridiculous

Charlene Jurkiewicz (Albemarle, 2021-01-25)

#15

I agree with the complaint, it seems the people in charge, are not qualified to do the planning and maintenance of the grid, the reasons for the outages shows the lack of maintenance planning. Enough is enough

Hennie j Labuschagne (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#17

You have the power of Authourity, we need the power of Electricity. One outage can be understood, but 4 weeks same excuses with no solution or progress to the problem.

Eugene Pretorius (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#18

Im signing because I am fedup with the no power issue.

Rosalinda Stork (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#21

We have had to replace our home Distribution board at a cost of R13000 as everytime this problem arises another earth leakage or trip switch packs up.

Frank Moore (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

Outages

Pieter Pretorius (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#24

I am tired of being without power weekly and losing food as well as income. This us unacceptable. I pay for my electricity and my rates and then have to constantly struggle without power

Bernadine Jacobsz (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#28

My family has been impacted by these recent power outages. From the power surge our microwave oven, kettle, fridge, several lights and cellphone charger blew. Not to mention the food spoilage we have endured and waste thereof.
Most recently my Mother has been in a fragile state of health and required oxygen. We hired an oxygenator at quite an expense... however we have only had the use of this occasionally due to the interrupted power supply in the area. Meaning it is taking longer for her recovery than is necessary and again causing a loss of income.
We do not get reimbursed for any of this... and quite frankly I am tired of paying my rates and taxes for the shoddy service delivery we get from Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.

Bronwyn Gobey (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#31

4 weeks of no electricity supply

Gregory Gumede (Johannesburg, 2021-01-25)

#32

Im fed up with the constant power outages!

Bianca Jordaan (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#36

During this pandemic, residents are forced to work from home. How is this possible if our Power is out 3 days of the week?
We pay for a service, deliver it.

Jean Ingram (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#38

This electricity outages is bull i pay my account i want my electricity to be on

Willem Coetzee (germiston, 2021-01-25)

#40

Electricity problem

Reynier Hagemann (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#42

I feel the municipality is doing us an injustice by not preventing these power cuts when the President has encouraged us to work from home due to the pandemic faced by the world.

Nomvula Mtsweni (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#44

Weekly power outages. Had some appliance and my garage motors damaged due to a powersurge. Had to repair at my own cost as i know i will not get success from the municipality.

Marius Koekemoet (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#47

Constant power outages in Dinwiddie!
Losing income and food. Unacceptable!

Remonde Dormehl (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#49

I'm signing because these constant power outages are a major disruption to my work schedule. I am not able to work effectively and efficiently from home with the persistent equipment failures that result in the larger area being left without electricity. These outages usually last hours on end and occur at the most inopportune moments. If equipment failure is the cause of these outages, EMM needs to put contingency measures in place while embarking on a proper maintenance to resolve the issues.

Dhanjay Ramjass (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#50

I am running a business from home.
Constant power outages together with Covid restrictions is not at all conducive to trying to earn a living.
Power outages & power surges also damage my office equipment & electronic home appliances & loss of food due to fridge/ freezer being off.
Financial losses cannot be recovered.

Adele Denysschen (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#51

I am signing because I am gatvol of having power issues every week!!!

Marlene Vorster (Albemarle, 2021-01-25)

Leeanne Corlett (Dinwiddie, 2021-01-25)

#58

Psmela Nel (Houghton Johannesburg, 2021-01-25)

#61

I am singing

Gerhard Du Preez (Dinwiddie, 2021-01-25)

#63

Extremely bad service delivery, paying for nothing. Constant electricity power interruptions and extended outages. Very disappointed and frustrated!

Francis Van der Walt (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#65

I'm signing because we are constantly without power and it seems like the problems are not addressed in a professional way. Seems like the council workers on the ground does not know what they are doing

Trudie Oosthuizen (Dinwiddie, 2021-01-25)

#66

We've had enough. Every week we are sitting with no power. We are working from home.

Madelain Midoux (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#68

We are paying for a service and we anot getting any services from the municipalities

Eric Hoctor (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#70

Enough is enough

Matilda Louwrens (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#71

Fed up

Johan Lewis (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#73

We are sick and tied of the weekly power outages. This is costing us money especially as we work from home. We pay our accounts regularly and if upgrading is required surely this should have been done already. The council in our area just ignores our constant cries and action needs to be taken

Veloshini Poonsamy (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#75

The frequency of these power cuts is very disruptive and the excuses are no longer believable. I personally believe that it is the fault of the local municipality mismanaging public funds that maintenance is not performed regularly to prevent breakdowns.

Anne Henderson (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#76

The amount of power outages have resulted in raised expenses, due to having to buy take aways, having to through away rotten food, doing washing at the laundromat etc. I am tired of the total lack of service from Germiston municipality

Wilma Du toit (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#77

Power outages are becoming ridiculous and too often

Ancke Liebenberg (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#79

Sick and tired of municipalities lack of urgency, power outages due to incompetent maintenance, wasted funds , rotten attitudes. It is totally out of hand.

Naomi Coetzee (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#86

This is really getting out of hand. Lost electrical appliances and frozen food, had to get rid og alot of meat.

Marilyn Gombert (Albemarle, 2021-01-25)

#87

Poor service delivery

Micheal Schoeman (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#88

I’m signing this because, I take care of my grandfather, who’s house this belongs to. With all the outages we have lost a lot of money on food that has been spoilt and loss of income cause I can’t work from home with the power being off.

Biancha Radyn (Johannesburg , 2021-01-25)

#89

Because like most residents the power outages damage the economy and the municipal officers charged with ensuring service delivery clearly do not have either the skills or will to correct these problems. The long outage ofvover 26 hours it was impossible to obtain any response from a single member of the electrical staff who should have been on duty for emergencies. It shows a total lack or respect for the residents they are paid to serve. That in my opinion would justify disciplinary action being taken against the responsible person who should have been on standby duty.

Michael Roebuck (GERMISTON, 2021-01-25)

#94

We have medicines that have to be refrigerated.

Peter North (EKURHULENI , 2021-01-25)

#99

I'm tired of paying for services that are not always there

Cecil Stephen (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#101

I'm signing this because as a citizen of this country, and a resident of this city, I feel that we are being stolen from. We are being unnecessarily deprived of basic service delivery, for unknown reasons. I work hard but even if I were not working, as in the case of the more vulnerable members of our society, and we all deserve for our municipality to take proper care of us. I do not for a second believe or accept all the nonsensical excuses the Council gives us every time our electricity is off. Please do the right thing.

Fernanda De Gouveia (Germiston Ekurhuleni, 2021-01-25)

#103

I'm tired off these constant blackouts and poor service delivery. We pay our Rates & Taxes every month on time, we don't deserve this poor service.

Melvin Kruger (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#104

It is disgusting the amount of power outages we have in our area and the pathetic excuses given by council

Alan Bridger (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#105

We are pentioners and can't go without power everyday.

Lorry Prinsloo (Norton small farms, 2021-01-25)

#106

Power outages due to constant equipment failure are disruptive. It is council's responsibility to ensure equipment is in good working order.

LELANIE GROBLER (GERMISTON, 2021-01-25)

#107

I'm being adversely affected by the power outages and lost perishable die to this

Wendy Tolken (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#111

Frustrade with constant power outages.

Warren Britz (Albermarle , 2021-01-25)

#114

It is getting worse, we not getting answers it’s always the same thing over and over

Elaine Basson (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#119

I'm signing because we have to endure numerious power outages in the last four weeks.

Riëtte Landman (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#120

I'm a resident and I'm tired of living without power every two to three times a week, without knowing why the power is out, without knowing when the power will be restored, also without knowing what's the course really...

Nomisa Sibisi (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

1 - My perception is that the level of professionalism by municipal staff is severely lacking
2 - I believe at least in part that some of these "failures" are due to internal sabotage to generate overtime work
3 - If I was MMC/HOD Energy I would have a dashboard view of incidents, classification thereof, root cause analysis on the same, a risk avoidance and mitigation strategy as well as a preventative maintenance and continuous improvement plan in place. It is clear that this is not the case here
4 - I would be adamant that my communication channels are empowered with accurate information; that senior staff investigate repeat incidents; put measures in place to perform QA assessments on work done; and I would put in place a system of consequence management across all my departments. I would also demand the same of my subcontractors and vendors. Additionally I would penalize my contractors for repeat incidents which generally indicated inferior work.
5 - I would ensure that my helpdesk has realtime access to information; I would ensure that my helpdesk have staff empowered to hold seniors accountable for lack of visibility; lack of feedback
6 - I would on a monthly basis publish a report of all incidents across the metro along with root cause; restoration time; what was done to restore service as well as a improvement plan to ensure the same incident does not repeat itself. I would make this public so that there is visibility that I am working towards making things better and not just keeping a chair warm. I would use this public mechanism to keep myself honest, accountable and invested in meeting success criteria objectives....

Just saying.

FYI - Thanks to the municipality my insurance profile is shot to [bad word here].
FYI - I have lost about two weeks worth of billable hours as a result of extended restoration time and repeat incidents amounting to thousands of rands
FYI - I have suffered reputational loss as a result of these outages due to my deliverables being impacted. Unfortunately I have been relying on a moderate measure of service from the municipality, it is however clear to me that there is either a lack of competency in the management structures or insufficient resources and commitment to apply the needed due diligence. It is also my belief that the culture of not enforcing consequence management have finally saturated the echelons of the municipality.

Ewald van den Heever (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#124

This is now beyond pathetic, do the technicians who go out actually know how to fix the problem? Or are they just winging it and hoping for the best...Our appliances are going to give in soon what with all the on off on off - and then we will have to fork out money to buy new ones!
Please either train the technicians or invest in new infrastructure asap!!!

Leanne Petro (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#125

This is the most useless local governance I have ever come across.

Pierre Pieters (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#128

I am tired of the outages and inflated electricity bills.

Also I am fed up of replacing appliances because there was no pre warning regarding outages.

Most of all, how in the hell do you expect us to get any work done if we have to work from home! This is a hostage situation to say the least. Also this could not have any positive impact on the economy as a whole.

No planning what so ever from your side.... Even less maintenance. You are a service provider with the most incompetent management to say the least

Hannelie du Plooy (Alberton, 2021-01-25)

#129

The situation is out of control and the staff are incompetent.

Steve Goedhals (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

Kim Callant (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#142

I'm signing this petition because I am sick and tired to pay for a service that's constantly down. The affected areas need desperately a complete rewiring to secure our power.

Maria Schutte (Ekurhuleni , 2021-01-25)

#143

Amount of power outages is unacceptable

Johann Lombard (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#145

I sign because I have been effected by these outages. We have to work from home but loose hours due all the powerfailure which has become a weekly occurrence.

Craig Jacobs (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#147

There are way too many outages in this are that now needs resolving. There are companies here

Debbie Kahan (Johanneaburg, 2021-01-25)

#153

I am honestly sick of all of the excuses and having constant power issues. There are certain suburbs in the east rand that almost never have outages so why must we. The council need to resolve this issue for once and for all.

Julie Jones (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#154

We have over the past few years had severe power outages The is not a healthy situation in the present as our appliances will not last long

Louise Trollip (Dinwiddie, 2021-01-25)

#159

It's a disgrace that Metro cannot over come these continual outages, it an attidue problem as well, the Metro could care that the resident are with out power, also the staff are lacking in knowledge

Barry Taylor (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#160

This power outages are unacceptable.

Wilmari Hoctor (Dinwiddie, 2021-01-25)

#163

I'm signing because continious power outages and dips ine voltage caused us to do various repairs to gate motor, electrical appliances as garage door motor. This is also affecting our work as we work from home at times. And losing groceries due to defrosting of refrigirators

Neil Karamalidis (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#166

The power outages in Germiston are be coming unbearable.

Marios Van Bosch (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#169

I am signing this petition because as a ligitimate resident in the area, I pay taxes, I pay - often in advance, for services and rely on the services I pay for, to be delivered on time and without interruption.
We operate our business from this address and cannot afford intermittant electricity supply service.
Besides, our electrical equipment eventually fails because of poor or no electrical supplies.

Cedric Coetzer (Albemarle ext.2, 2021-01-25)

#171

I pay my taxes. I pay for electricity. I pay my municipal taxes. Then we still have load shedding to deal with as well.

Jan Hofmeyr (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#173

I'm signing because.. I strongly feel the weekly power outages are really impacting us negatively and they need to be addressed urgently by CoE.

Menzi Magubane (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

Lazarus Mohlala (Ekhuruleni , 2021-01-25)

#180

We are semi retired Athletics coaches which serve mostly Ekurhuleni poor areas trying to get the NEXT TRACK and FIELD Champions.

Our kids are studying at UJ and working from Home. Hence we are TOTALLY depending on Fixed Reliable Power.

The last few weeks from 4th January cause Major damages starting with High Voltage that blew most of our house content's of which we don't have insurance.

Can the matter PLSE have your URGENT ATTENTION.

#188

I work from home and when we have this power outages, it affects me doing my work.

Lea Van Der merwe (Germiston, 2021-01-25)

#190

I am fedup
Loss of food gone rotten in deepfreeze
Being pensioners very difficult if you are semi mobile to move around in pitch darkness.
It's an utter disgrace.

Jennifer Niemand (Germiston , 2021-01-25)

#192

I'm frustrated over the fact that we pay for the lack of service we getting

Susa P (Germiston , 2021-01-26)

#195

I'm so sick of us having no power which is now accruing on a daily basis we are charged a stupid amount for power yet never have any power. Your service, maintenance and lack of response is appoling!!!

Chavonne Raubenheimer (Johannesburg, 2021-01-26)

#197

I'm signing this petition because the constant power outages are affecting my already struggling business that has been affected by the long lockdowns. The infrastructure needs to be upgraded as opposed to just being "patched".

Karen Matthyser (Germiston, 2021-01-26)
