Please cut the greenbelt, it’s a safety hazard.

I fully support this initiative as I have been a victim of crime in my own home for the 5th time in 6 weeks.

Edda Davidson (Pretoria , 2021-03-01)

I live on Wild Avenue directly across from the green belt. My house has been burgled three times by criminal elements hiding in the tall grass, which is now almost 2 metres high in places, and using the overgrown green belt as a getaway route. If this is the run-down image you want to portray of South Africa's capital city, it is a good testimony of how badly the municipality's service delivery is lacking.

Theunis du Toit (Pretoria, 2021-03-01)

I'm signing this because the spruit is being polluted by the vagrants. The group is growing larger by the day and criminal activity has spiked terribly since growth in these numbers.
Safety has become a concern and walking/jogging close to our home in and around the park/spruit has been avoided due to this. Privacy is also influenced when the vagrants constantly move around the fence of the complex looking into our homes .
The upkeeping of the grass in the belt and spruite have been neglected and look bad combined with the vagrants just dumping papers where they are active.

Chané Van Wyk (Pretoria, 2021-03-01)

#21

As a result of all the rain the grass has grown and is out of control and has not been cut Inna very long time allowing for undesirables to hide there.

I am signing because I have always paid my Rates and Taxes and it is disgraceful that a simple thing like cutting the grass is neglected. It is so bad in some places that we are no longer able to even walk along the concrete sidewalks. We have to walk in the road.

Trevor Hardwick (Pretoria , 2021-03-02)

I'm signing because the vagrants in the area are using their position in the green areas as a base for robberies in the neighbourhood. They Rob and disappear into the bushes.

Irene Marais (Pretoria, 2021-03-02)

#80

Our safety is severely affected by the long grass in these areas. Crime has also escalated because of the vagrants hiding in the grass.

Erina Schnell (Pretoria , 2021-03-02)

#81

It is becoming unsafe and our property values will start to decline. If we wanted to live next to the homeless, we would’ve bought a place in Hillbrow.

Herman Bosch (Pretoria , 2021-03-02)

#104

I'm signing this petition because I live next to the greenbelt and it has become a haven for criminals. Trees are also being cut down for firewood which is another safety concern. The majority of the people who are illegally occupying that area are also illegal imigrants who are desperate and will do anything to survive. There have been countless hijackings and smash and grabs at the offramp from the highway onto Garsfontein road and the criminals always flee into the greenbelt. If the police don't do something about this it feels as if the rights of law abiding citizens are secodary to those who disregard the law.

Reynhardt Pitout (Pretoria, 2021-03-03)

#106

The green belt stink and is dirty because of illegal occupant sleeping there. It is not safe.

I live in this area - I pay dearly every month property tax - if I can not live in area that is clean and safe I can surely withhold my tax - because I do not get what I pay for - Goverment and local officials should realise that the are elected and paid by residents -

I live directly facing the vagrants. I have no privacy. I fear for the lives of my family, as there has already been a break in by thieves, hiding out, in this grass. They need to be evicted! But, please start, by cutting the grass. Thankyou. From a family of three. Mrs V. Vlok.

Vicky Vlok (Pretoria , 2021-03-07)

My wife and our domestic worker has been harassed by people living in this area in the last two weeks. One person even exposed himself to our domestic worker. Women do not feel safe walking in Umgazi road in broad daylight.

#150

I'm signing because it's the right thing to do

Morne Stoltz (Pretoria, 2021-03-08)

#152

It poses a security risk. Often the security companies catch the thief running into the spruit and cannot get to to them in time. I think it should be turned into a park.

Andrea Potgieter (Pretoria, 2021-03-08)

#153

Safety in our area is shocking as a result of said vagrants.

Andre Vrey (Pretoria, 2021-03-08)

It is unsightly mad dangerous to have vagrants living in these green belts. No paying citizen can make use of the green belt areas and enjoy nature! It is depreciating our property to have these unsightly shanty towns being erected in nature.

Rime in our areas is out of controle we have no open space to relax as all green areas are over grown and dirty!

Shirley Rudd (Pretoria, 2021-03-19)

#199

I live nearby and this is a security risk with illegal activities taking place and as a hideout for criminals. Countering the security threat has increased our levies. The perceived security risk devalues the property value and diminishes rental achieved

Brendon Gass (Ashlea Gardens, 2021-03-22)

#200

I live next to this area and it has been subject to a lot of crime in the last while.
