RESOLVED!!! Change in IDAS setup on Isuzu DMAX

#401

I've had constant problems where the lane assist has actually pushed the car over the centre line into oncoming traffic rather than keeping it in the lane... This happens nearly every time I drive the car, constantly fighting the system to keep it in the right lane.

I'm signing because I was to by an X-Terrain for towing the caravan on our travels but I dont want to have to go through the same check lists like I do when flying an aircraft. Why would I buy something that is unsafe for towing our caravan just because an engineer was shortsighted with their system design?

Damian Fletcher (FITZGIBBON, 2021-05-17)

#403

I am looking at getting a D-Max. And concerned about my safety

Craig Pearton (Adelaide , 2021-05-17)

#407

I'm considering cancelling my order of the xterrain due to these settings not being able to switch off quickly.

Daniel Moore (Brisbane , 2021-05-18)

#411

The safety features that need to be turned off for towing should have a button or automatically disable when the wiring harness is plugged in just like the reverse sensor
Thank you

Dean Burton (Casuarina, 2021-05-18)

#417

I am an owner of a Dmax and think this should be an option

Jarrad Bertolin (Clontarf, 2021-05-19)

#418

i totally agree with the writer that these features ldp bsm elk rcta acc lka as recommened by isuzu be turned off whilst towing should be a simple matter of flicking a switch or pushing a button or as stated they are disabled when connecting the trailer plug not having to re set them every time you stop for fuel etc

paul wilding (adelaide, 2021-05-20)

#424

I'm signing because I'm about to own a Dmax Space cab and it is not very intuitive to set the idas system for towing. I'm a retired commercial pilot and I can identify a clear operational hazard in the complex configuring of the IDAS in preparation for towing. It should be a one button press of a button on the dashboard labelled TOWING to configure the required systems in preparation for towing. Even if the button needs to be pressed each time the vehicle is restarted or is in motion.

John Betts (Sydney, 2021-05-31)

#428

Its dangerous when towing

Stuart Dunn (Loxton, 2021-06-01)

#434

Unsafe to tow.

Pierre Brown (Madora bay, 2021-06-01)

#435

Yes I like the system but in some instances human interaction may need to act and be able to switch of the system while driving.

Phillip Radford (East Bairnsdale, 2021-06-01)

#438

The safety features can make driving more dangerous in some situations. . Lane departure actually takes me across the centre line before correcting. It needs to be able to be turned off easily.

Steve Clarke (Seaford rise, 2021-06-01)

#439

I wish to be able to save my settings.

Casey Spice (Stirling, 2021-06-01)

#440

It’s dangerous when u forget to turn it off when towing and you have no where safe to pull over

I won't buy this car unless these safety features are optioned to be turned off and left off like every other ute in the market. Test driving one, I loved the car, but the safety features were too intrusive which ultimately made me decide against purchasing one.

Josh Clacy (Tugun, 2021-06-01)

#451

I have had similar issues arise whilst towing. And also consider that changes made by the driver to these assistance features should remain in the vehicle's memory & not reset to default when the engine is turned off.

Bill Zombor (Melbourne, 2021-06-01)

#455

I'm signing this petition because I tow a boat with my xt and these features need to rectified

Kenton Denny (Brisbane , 2021-06-01)

#457

That electric steering out of lane thing not safe

Peter Wenden (Melbourne , 2021-06-01)

#459

I have had many cases of AEB activating too early and Acceleration Suppression almost causing an accident.
I believe the system needs some paramaters reprogramming.

Jason Quinton (Penrith, 2021-06-01)

#460

Because I tow a caravan and these features can be a hinderance sometimes

Scott Gill (Berkshire park, 2021-06-01)

#463

Very dangerous driving through dips on country roads

Matthew ross (park avenue, 2021-06-02)

#464

I recognise this as a safety issue that needs correction.

Graham Perry (BOWRAL, 2021-06-02)

#467

It is a design flaw when towing. The features that Isuzu say to turn off when towing should be done with a touch of a button. Not a huge hassle/inconvenience. Not to mention it could cause an accident/fatality if you simply forget to disable said safety features.

Paul Champion (Vacy, 2021-06-02)

#469

I feel it is unsafe in towing situations. Needs to be disable via a button at anytime

Matthew Bryant (Brisbane , 2021-06-02)

#475

The idas system can become dangerous when systems are not turned off

Sean Slevison (Victoria , 2021-06-02)

#477

I am considering purchasing a MUX and tow a caravan, If this new IDAS system is not modifed to a simple one action solution I will consider an other make of vehicle, Thanks.

Oscar Humphreys (LAWNTON, 2021-06-03)

#479

I have also had the same issue and feel a software update should be made available.

John Pollard (Lake Cathie , 2021-06-03)

#481

I’m waiting on the arrival of my x terrain and would like this rectified

Steve Angleton (Tooradin, 2021-06-03)

#482

I own one of there new d Max’s and it’s really scary when a wide load is coming towards you and the car won’t let you off the road

Chris Mason (Brisbane , 2021-06-03)

#484

Owning a unit

Brenton Smith (Middleton, 2021-06-03)

#485

I also own the new Dmax and will be towing with this vehicle. The scenario outlined as example seems very dangerous and frustrating and I certainly don’t want that happening to my family.

Marcus F (Newcastle , 2021-06-03)

#489

The IDAS as presently configured is dangerous when towing and a simple one-touch setting solution needs to be done by Isuzu.

Scott Ragg (Margate, 2021-06-03)

#491

It’s seriously dangerous, we have had countless times where this technology has kicked in and almost caused multiple crashes. We’ve contacted Isuzu Australia and they have told us that they are not able to turn it off because of their safety requirements. This is a safety hazard and these features must be either disabled permanently or have an easy access button to turn off all features with ease. Going through the system setting and turning each one off each trip is absolutely ridiculous.

Maddison Cafarella (Littlehampton, 2021-06-03)

#492

I’m looking at buying a new dmax and this is putting me off

Brendon Reynders (New Plymouth , 2021-06-03)

#493

Towing with systems like this is dangerous. This is not just an Isuzu issue but an issue with all makes. Our Volvo is the same but it auto deactivates when the car is connected to a trailer or van.

Justin Molnar (Melbourne , 2021-06-03)

#494

We are intending to tow our van too and it just seems very dangerous. I feel once a trailer plug is connected these features should be automatically disabled

Melissa Johnston (Brisbane, 2021-06-03)

#495

I’m signing because I believe the DMax needs a button to engage towing mode therefore switching off the features as recommended by Isuzu for towing.

Rosd Clark (Brisbane, 2021-06-03)

#499

It is dangerous on country roads that are narrow and idas is always trying to steer the vehicle onto the edges of the roads with no white lines. Dangerous to swerve around wild life. It is a safety issue.

Michael Crichton (Toowoomba , 2021-06-03)

#507

I consider this option an accesity as I bought the vehicle to tow

Robert Barna (Melbourne , 2021-06-03)

#508

Shits dangerous

Jake Lockhart (Balranald, 2021-06-03)

#522

I tow a caravan.

Luke Simpson (Kialla , 2021-06-03)

#523

I too have had similar experiences with the safety system.

Terrence Miller (Perth, 2021-06-03)

#525

A simple fix to this issue can have dramatic effects

Jason Mills (Perth, 2021-06-03)

#528

It’s bloody sheeet, I nearly do da cresh

Saverio Virgara (Adelaide , 2021-06-03)

#530

I hate the idas system and is not accurate

Gonzalo Haddad (Melbourne , 2021-06-03)

#534

Several points, the blind spot warnings and rear warning sensors are a great thing, the emergency brake needs fixing. There is one place where I turn left and on the apex of the turn there is a steel guard rail . The camera sees this as an issue and sets of the alarms. Every morning on the way to work in the same place the same issue.

I to have a dmax & would like it changed

Stephen Ruppik (Benaraby, 2021-06-03)

#542

We will be towing a caravan and this is concerning to me

Wendy Mackey (Hobart , 2021-06-03)

#543

Have experienced similar occurrence when over taking B double truck on narrow two lane motorway.
D max sensed RH alane marking and forces vehicle back towards truck.

Ross Simpson (Sydney, 2021-06-03)

#545

The calibration of the system re trigger point and response is not well resolved, triggers falsely and or too early (sensitive) and response is too severe, firm pull on steering neither smooth or necessary.
The process to engage / disengage for towing is not convenient to the user through multiple menu navigation steps (as opposed a single button) making ignition reset both inconvenient and increased risk of not being done leading to increased driver risk.

Mark Harrison (Gold coast , 2021-06-03)

#547

I own a current model DMAX and similar dangerous situations have also happened to me.

David Bresner (Travellers Retreat, 2021-06-03)

#551

Concern about safety

Tim Kennedy (Currimundi , 2021-06-03)

#552

This requires fixing.

Kym Packham (Adelaide , 2021-06-03)

#553

Safety concerns with IDAS on our 2021 Isuzu Dmax X Terrain. Don't ruin a great start for Isuzu.

Steve Gifford (Sydney , 2021-06-03)

#555

The way to turn off the idas features are tedious and it’s also extremely dangerous when towing.

Jarred Johnston (Brisbane , 2021-06-04)

#556

These issues are problematic and can create a safety hazard

Mitch Trapp (Perth, 2021-06-04)

#558

This is not safe

Peter Hayward (sydney, 2021-06-04)

#561

These driver assist settings are more dangerous than they are helpful. And you should be able to turn them off permanently

Aaron Cafarella (South Australia , 2021-06-04)

#568

I have a new X-Terrain on order, this should be standard. I also drive my wifes G05 BMW X5 which has a single button to deactivate these features at any time, without deactivating essential safety features such as ABS, TC, TSC, etc.

Anthony Parsons (Melbourne, 2021-06-04)

#571

I have just ordered a new X terrain basically to tow a caravan from Jackson Isuzu in Tasmania. Sad to lose my MUX. I note when towing you have to turn off some safety features every time you start the car. What a pain in the a....e Is there a way that a software update could be made, designed by Isuzu to put the car into towing mode with the push of one button, instead of going through the whole process each time you stop. Imagine going through a town, stopping for a coffee-attractions-lunch through out your day and each time having to go through the towing process. Even if Isuzu made something to attach to the can line-OBD port to do the job. Looking at a lot of the forums, people are turned off from the car by this, what a shame for a great car. While I recognise I will receive a standard company answer-line,( We appreciate your feedback....ra ra ra ) I believe something more constructive should be done about this issue. I look forwards to hearing from you. Kind Regards Mark Seaton

Mark Seaton (Latrobe, 2021-06-05)

#572

I have experienced similar dangerous occurrences while driving my 2020 d max . Towing and not towing. My emergency braking has been activated a number of times while I have had nothing in front of me. Luckily I was not rear ended. If feel for safety’s sake it needs a off button. Other cars we own Mazda and have driven Subaru have the button to turn these functions off. It’s only a matter of time until this flawed system creates an accident braking and steering unnecessarily. As it’s seems to me a crude system that does not work very well at all.

Andrew Eggins (Townsville, 2021-06-05)

#583

I bought this car specifically for towing and agree with this description, the towing video produced by Isuzu shows an unreasonable amount of intervention needed each time the vehicle is started.

Chris OBrien (Brisbane, 2021-06-05)

#584

i have purchased a new dmax, and plan to tow a van!

eric sari (brisbane, 2021-06-05)

#585

These features could potentially create safety issues themselves and should be able to be disabled at the drivers discretion.

Kyle Hudson (Portland, 2021-06-05)

#586

As above

Josh Treacy (Shepparton , 2021-06-05)

#588

It’s dangerous

Ben Hulsbosch (Perth, 2021-06-06)

#590

Sick of fighting with the vehicle.

David Senior (Brisbane, 2021-06-06)

#591

The application of this system needs to be modified and easily able to be switched off when towing large heavy trailers/caravans. In its present form these vehicles are not fit for purpose.

Shane Douglas (Tin Can Bay, 2021-06-06)

#597

I own a BT50 and want it fixed there as well.

Isaac Newton (Brisbane, 2021-06-06)

#599

The reasons stated by the petitioner are true and their concerns are real.

Don Cureton (MANSFIELD, 2021-06-06)

#600

It’s bloody dangerous.
