Comments

#601

i too own the MY21 DMax and couldnt agree more

BJ Halloran (Sydney, 2021-06-06)

#602

I’m signing this petition because I think there should be an update for the Isuzu Idas software when towing

Gerard McCarthy (Burpengary, 2021-06-07)

#603

My vehicle is a Mazda BT50 but feel exactly the same way and I too have experienced potentially fatal incidents since buying the car new only 1 month ago.

Geoff Forster (Mackay, 2021-06-07)

#608

I have ordered a dmax specifically for towing, and i am concerned about the above details

Brad Sampson (Sydney , 2021-06-07)

#610

I tow and have a DMax on order 😞

Lea Faulkner (Molendinar, 2021-06-07)

#614

Mine is all over the road while towing a caravan, makes for hard driving. Never had this issue with my last BT 2016.

Garry Matheson (Cobden, 2021-06-08)

#615

I’m using my LSU for towing and agree with disabling lane assist when trailer plug is in

Paul Westcott (Forbes, 2021-06-08)

#618

Found similar issues with idas steering into oncoming traffic dangerous, worse at night when the system gets dazzled by lights on poor roads.
The system needs to stay off permanently once user selects that option.

Ben Hall (Scottsdale , 2021-06-09)

#620

I own a 2021 D-max. This morning I moved right to give a pedestrian who was getting into her car more room. The IDAS kicked in and swerved me directly toward her. She thought I was trying to kill her. My wife will not drive the car because of this feature. It is too hard to turn off and especially dangerous if you are not familiar with the vehicle. Needs to be permanently disabled before it causes fatalities.

Rex Levi (Cronulla, 2021-06-10)

#622

I will be towing a caravan and agree with the stated need to have an easy method to disable the systems as recommended by Isuzu Ute Australia.

John Balsillie (Maroochydore, 2021-06-10)

#623

Owner of same vehicle in question

Kevin Lau (Sydney, 2021-06-10)

#624

I also have experienced the same problems with trailer sway whilst towing a 2.9t caravan which could have had fatal consequences.

Alan Eddy (Traralgon, 2021-06-11)

#627

I'm signing the petition because the action requested in the petition increases the safety of all road users and could prevent injury and death.

Brian Harris (Veteran, 2021-06-13)

#629

I own a MY21 DMAX and need an easier option to disable the IDAS .

ROBERT MOORE (Brisbane, 2021-06-13)

#630

I own one and am disgusted, make it easier to turn it off

Dee Moore (Caboolture, 2021-06-13)

#637

I'm truly disappointed that mu new D-Max does not have a simple function to turn off features when towing.

Russell Aitken (Bradbury, 2021-06-21)

#641

I have recently purchased an Isuzu D-Max model LS-U specifically to tow a 2700kG caravan. The relevant IDAS systems (considered dangerous when towing a large caravan) in this vehicle should be disabled immediately when a towing. Perhaps a simple solution being via a single icon (press to action) displayed on the home screen or via sensing connection of a trailer plug.

Fred Birkbeck (Mareeba, 2021-06-24)

#647

I’m signing because the Lane Assist system in my Mazda BT 50 (Isuzu with Mazda Badge) is ridiculous, dangerous, over controlling and dangerous. I’m concerned about letting my wife drive it because it is so over the top in over compensating for my driving. Ive never experienced anything as ridiculous as this.!!!!!!! It must be rectified!!!

Andrew Campbell (Melbourne , 2021-07-03)

#648

I’m a tradesman & tow a trailer 95% of the time

Murray Seymour (Withcott, 2021-07-04)

#651

I am signing this as I am experiencing potentially life threatening incidents due to Isuzu IDAS flaws.
Example:-
- have front plumbers bar fitted, when carry anything that protrudes past windscreen will have system dysfunction and emergency brake etc
- lane detection does not pick up trucks carrying narrow wide loads - resulting in system steering you back into a wide load
- system is disabled whenever there is rain, fog, condensation, snow etc however these are the times when you are most likely to want the system to be working
- does not like doing right hand turns at intersections with multiple white lines on road result is it allows you to cross half way and then leaves you stranded with no throttle control and end up nearly being tee boned by traffic in either direction.
- often will not allow me to move at a green light at traffic intersection (throttle control disabled) leaving you copping abuse from motorists behind me.
- if I disable the emergency brake in settings I then cannot use cruise control

The list goes on

John Harle (Oxenford, 2021-07-06)

#652

I'm signing because I find the lane jeep assist dangerous when towing. There definitely need to be a way of turning the feature off while moving and to set a default so resetting is not required every time I start the car

Daniel Ryan (Avoca Beach, 2021-07-07)

#653

mazda bt50 owner.
IDAS creates more problems than it solves.
It is ridiculously over sensitive, and should be able to be switched off permanently.

Phil Bickerstaff (canberra, 2021-07-07)

#655

I have also had mojor problems and have high safety concerns for myself and my passengers whilst towing a boat 5000km. Roadworks are a Big issue, constantly trying to drag the car either into oncoming traffic and semi trailers.
This issue needs to be rectified asap before someone is fatally injured.

Matthew Goodwin (Kirwan, 2021-07-14)

#656

I want to be able to permanently turn off

Tuncay Yavuzcan (Melbourne , 2021-07-14)

#657

Permanent off settings for all features

Paul Jones (Korumburra , 2021-07-14)

#661

I have the same issues with lane assit and also autonomous braking which is inconsistent and dangerous especially on freeways. Have nearly been tail ended on several instances due to autonomous braking coming on unnecessarily.

Rob Ruttico (Iluka, 2021-07-14)

#662

I have an Xterrain on order and the main reason for the purchase is to tow our 22ft caravan. I certainly dont want this type of incident to happen to me or others

Bob Whalan (Darwin, 2021-07-14)

#663

It is a feature that is required. It will not be born for towing until Isuzu implement this additional feature.

Jeff Newman (East Brisbane, 2021-07-14)

#664

I have also had the IDAS system activate where it could of caused serious harm in different situations. Although I do enjoy some of the features it has. The system needs to be tweaked in a way that it can be turned off, and that car's computer remembers the setting preferences chosen by the driver.

Aaron Fowler (Perth, 2021-07-14)

#667

Agree with explanation of over zealous safety feature.

Daniel Mason (Eli Waters, 2021-07-14)

#669

Im signing because im a dmax owner and would like to disable some of the "safety" features

Joel Harrison (Sydney, 2021-07-14)

#670

I own an x terrain and this needs to be fixed it is a massive safety issue

Jack Dellavalle (Nsw, 2021-07-14)

#671

I want to go my own way - not the way the car thinks is best for me.

Graham Wand (Burleigh Heads, 2021-07-14)

#672

I'm signing this because the system at times can be unsafe and put you in danger

Troy Bargenquast (Emerald, 2021-07-14)

#674

I’m sick of this safety system. There must be an easy way of turning of these features. If Subaru designed I’d it would be more user friendly or even mazda. Lane assist I feel is rubbish not as good as my 2014 Forester. You need to upgrade your computer system on board all of the new X Terrains

Eddie Peterson (Carrara, 2021-07-15)

#676

Safety concerns

Matt Pitt (Cannovale , 2021-07-17)

#677

I tow.

Shane Bambrick (Wellington Point, 2021-07-18)

#678

I want to be able to turn off IDAS Permanently.
The continued slamming of breaks unnecessarily is dangerous and not a safe way to prevent an accident.

Gavin Deguara (Sydney, 2021-07-18)

#679

It’s so bloody dangerous

Jason Piera (Cowes, 2021-07-19)

#681

I have purchased a MY21 LSU for the purpose of towing. I was not told about having to turn off the driver assistance prior to delivery. I find turning off the IDAS to be hopeless. The fact it is dangerous to be left on whilst towing i find it to be negelent of Isuzu not to have a simpler system for diabling it. Not happy.

Robert Jeffrey (Drouin, 2021-07-25)

#683

This is a serious safety issue which needs to be urgently addressed.

Ian Cannon (Bendigo, 2021-08-04)

#687

I agree 100% with everything written here. I’m the owner of a ‘21 D-Max and have had multiple dangerous situations prevail while driving due to the IDAS system responding when it’s not needed. I actually bought the car on the premise that these safety features can be turned off, I was utterly disappointed when I started to research this problem and found out that the safety features are all reactivated automatically upon starting the car (which is ridiculous). I bought a new car to drive around, not a car which drives me around and takes control of the steering when it decides something isn’t right.

Mark Rutherford (FURNISSDALE, 2021-08-18)

#690

My 2021 Dmax pulled the wheel out of my hand towards a cyclist as I went to indicate around him

Daniel Keough (Nowra, 2021-08-20)

#692

I am signing because a similar situation happened to us while towing a 2.5T caravan - The IDAS system activated the autonomous breaking system on two occasions within 20Km of each other
We were lucky in the fact there was absolutely NO traffic in front or behind us at all & mid afternoon - No cover or debris over camera units or sensors - NO shading
Had advised dealership of issue & could not give any answers to the problem despite several contacts between dealership & manufacturer technical department
This issue has not happened since, However have not towed caravan due to lockdowns either

Wayne Sheffield (Happy Valley, 2021-08-20)

#695

I too have issues with many of the "safety" features and would like to be able to turn individual ones off and have them remain off when i restart the vehicle. Specifically lane departure assistance and the emergency auto braking that loves to engage when im trying to overtake on a highway

Kent Jeffery (Katherine, 2021-08-21)

#697

These safety features are annoying to turn of every time after the key is removed and is a huge saftey issue

Stanko Jovicic (Sydney, 2021-08-21)

#699

I too have had an incident nearly hitting cyclists, as I move past them the car pushes me back into them. And I plan to tow soon, the experience by others seems very dangerous

Rob Sirio (Central Coast NSW , 2021-08-21)

#700

I think the car should be able to remember your settings in between turning off and on.

Karina Schofield (Hallam, 2021-08-21)

#704

I would like to see changes in the IDAS system made

Martin Lee (Deeral, 2021-08-21)

#705

I regularly drive on narrow country roads and find this to be dangerous

Hendrik Plug (Albany, 2021-08-21)

#709

I do a lot of off-road driving and want to be able to press a button and turn all this safety software off.

Bernie Masters (Capel, 2021-08-22)

#712

Had a similar issue in pouring rain, the IDAS turned on/off a few times and then caused serious caravan sway.

Bill van Til (Mandurah, 2021-08-22)

#713

I'm singing because I agree with the statement above, I enjoy the features offer in the new Dmax IDAS system but on some Australian country roads which narrow and have increased surface camber I have had the lane assist "pull" me away from the center of the road (which it is ment to do) but not that far it put me off the road on the left due to no hard shoulder, Please rectify this maby with button on wheel to be able to switch off whilst driving.

Arran Grice (Perth, 2021-08-22)

#714

I to find it dangerous..and I should be able to turn it of and leave it of.

Robert Mcnamara (Annandale, 2021-08-22)

#721

I’m signing this petition because I agree with the author Brigham Edgars’ concerns.

Shaune Corrigan (Bateau Bay, 2021-08-24)

#723

I feel compromised always when the system is active, just want to be able to turn off and stay off

Glen Higgins (Kyneton, 2021-08-25)

#724

I intend to tow a caravan around australia and man roads with white lines are too narrow so keeping the car within the lane is extremely difficult. I want to have the option to turn off safety feature as required and for them to remain off until I choose to turn the function on again

David Kinnear (Brisbane, 2021-08-25)

#725

I have paid a deposit for this 5 ANCAP rated DMAX ute for an up-coming towing tour but am gravely concerned the safety rating is dependent on manually resetting 4 driver assistance defaults when a trailer is connected. Is this car really safe?

Gerard Webster (Kew, 2021-08-25)

#726

I just purchased a new x terrain and these problems need to be fixed!

Ben Menghsm (Cairns, 2021-08-26)

#729

I regularly tow a caravan and find having to turn off the relevant IDAS features every time I restart annoying, to say the least.
If I forget to turn them off, some of the features can be problematic in traffic overtaking, or being overtaken by, large trucks.

Geoff Johns (Brighton , 2021-08-26)

#732

I have a new dmax

Matthew Debenham (Beerwah, 2021-08-27)

#735

I too tow trailers on the regular and find it extremely easy to forget about the settings. I have a near miss while towing.

I was on a left hand bend with a B double On my right side. I needed to move to the left lane as soon as I indicated the car picked up on the trailer as a vehicle in my blind spot and immediately steered me straight almost slamming me into the truck. IDAS needs an easier way to disable.

Cameron Munro (Narangba, 2021-09-08)

#736

it is a pain and potetially dangerous. but isuzu have shifted liability to the driver diable all three everytime they restart the engine while towing.

linc mundy (GAWLER BELT, 2021-09-08)

#738

I own a 2021 dmax and agree it is unsafe.

Adrian Simpson (Mt Samson, 2021-09-23)

#747

Car is iunsafe do mostly country driving at night and find it terrible to control please turn it off permanently

Hutchby Ardenhutchby (Tamworth, 2021-10-25)

#748

I should be able to disable them until I want them back on again (memory) - not each time the car starts. The emergency braking was applied much too aggressively nearly causing a serious accident

Steve Martin (Perth, 2021-10-25)

#750

I have ordered a new Xterrain and understand how this could happen.

Brian Bauer (Cairns, 2021-10-31)

#751

I agree you need to be able to turn IDAS on or off. Not every time you get in the car.

Andrew MARTIN (Mackay, 2021-11-02)

#753

I have a dmax

Hullah Robert (WHYALLA PLAYFORD, 2021-11-04)

#756

I have bought one of these hazardous things

Michael Skinner (Newcaste, 2021-11-16)

#760

Under certain driving conditions I find the system unnerving and potentially dangerous.

Neil Chippendale (Hope Valley , 2021-11-20)

#761

This Ute is advertised as borne to tow, yet it’s not suitable unless you get into the IDAS system “to make it suitable” every time you step into the vehicle. Dangerous to drive under some circumstances. Need a single button to disable the IDAS functionality, I could cop a button press each time I was intending to tow, but having to go through a menu is nonsense.

Philip Procter (Langwarrin , 2021-11-20)

#762

I have purchased a ‘22 D-Max which is slated for delivery and am not looking forward to having to deal with this issue.

My previous three vehicles (Ford Ranger and Jeep Grand Cherokee x 2) and current vehicle (Kia carnival) carry over lane keeping assist, forward collision control and autonomous breaking (as well as parking assist) from previous settings on previous vehicle trips, and these settings could be very easily changed on all these vehicles from the steering wheel control or centre console cluster, at any time and importantly while the vehicle is in motion.

The ADR’s requirements require the system to respond/ be disabled with driver intervention however the lane keeping assist aggressive interventions and breaking kicking in need to be fought by the driver during a potentially hazardous situation in to stay on the road and particularly when towing do not take into account the added complexities of stopping and management of road movements associated with an articulated (towing) vehicle and other traffic.

Such interventions will be the responsibility of this system and IUA has a duty of care to rectify this to meet safety in design obligations to its customers and the public at large.

Andrew Roberts (Forrestdale, 2021-11-20)

#763

Agree with previous comments about not being able to deactivate safety features

Brendon Newton (Mindarie, 2021-11-20)

#764

I’d like to be able to SIMLPY turn it off when towing my van.

Dean Browning (Brisbane, 2021-11-20)

#765

Good system that needs a one touch off user option.

Jason Paterson (Canberra, 2021-11-21)

#767

This can be very dangerous, needs to be rectified..

Rob P (Melbourne , 2021-11-21)

#768

Have completed nearly 25000km (20,000 towing 2.4 tonne van) in first 5 months of ownership (MY21 DMAX) and am heartily sick of turning off features (as recommended by Isuzu) every time I turn the key on. It takes approximately 40 seconds each time which is embarrassing for me and aggravating for other drivers waiting for me to move (away from fuel bowsers, accompanying travellers, border checkpoints etc)

Robert White (Walligan, 2021-11-22)

#769

We have ordered a new Dmax due in May 2022 to replace our current one. Will be towing a new caravan and believe this feature is definitely warranted and should have been fitted as other manufacturers do such as Ford Ranger.

Scott Taylor (MOGGILL, 2021-11-22)

#771

Very poor system to turn off features to tow

Steven Price (Melbourne, 2021-11-23)

#772

IUA tells us we have to turn all these safety features off when towing, takes for ever and you have to be stationary to do it. Nice to be able to turn it off when you are moving.

Bruce Bates (Nanango, 2021-11-26)

#773

I tow a caravan and its dangerous enough when the roads are narrow but worse with a van

Margaret Bordin (Bonnie Doon, 2021-11-26)

#779

I own a 2021 dmax XTerrain and tow regularly. I feel unsafe towing with these features enabled and the process is currently too time consuming to do it every time I turn the car back on again.

Steven Liddell (Brighton, 2021-11-26)

#784

This really needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency.

Isuzu, you have been made aware of this and failure to rectify could leave you vunerable to future legal action.

Brett Parfitt (Cairns, 2021-11-26)

#787

I feel that this will be a big improvement to the safety of my family

Ashley Dutton (Brisbane, 2021-11-26)

#788

It needs to be deactivated easier

Troy Clavell (Adelaide , 2021-11-26)

#789

The IDAS system gives me the shits

Bryan Morris (Currambine , 2021-11-26)

#790

constantly having to turn off many functions when towing is a problem.

Steven Peck (Buderim, 2021-11-26)

#791

I own an MY21 LSU and the IDAS system is terrible. Multiple incidences of it pulling me into the paths of incoming cars because the cameras couldn't read the lines properly or being pulled into the kerb at speed because another vehicle was passing. Brakes slamming on and alarms going off on corners when driving in the bush. The deactivation process is a nightmare and the safety features on the centre screen are ridiculous. I can navigate all the way to a song but I can't play it. I can open the map, find a place on the map but can't start the navigation. I can't turn the screen off when moving but can do many other functions requiring more steps. If these issues aren't addressed the car will be sold at 60k km and I won't buy another one.

Peter Oliver (Bairnsdale, 2021-11-26)

#800

I have one on order and will be towing a van

Daren Parsons (Cudgen, 2021-11-26)
