I care about my town!

Nadia Janse Van Rensburg (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

An informal settlement in the center of town is unacceptable. Next to the police station, in Church street on the pavement, next to the church in Church street.....where will it end?

Yvonne Loubser (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#208

I live here and want my neighbourhood to be safe and clean.

Elizabeth Fuzy (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

The tents in Durbanville needs to be removed. It is a safety hazard for the children at the school and parents are being harassed.

Charmaine Meyer (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#228

This is not safe

Shaun Van de Merwe (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#230

We live in this area and it is also a great concern for us to see this settlement expanding so rapidly. It is affecting everyone in the area and it will definitely affect the selling price of properties nearby.

Lucinda De Waal (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#231

The tents need to be removed and the people placed in shelters because it is the right thing to do.

Desiree Claassen (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#235

It is a health hazard, there are no recognised fire-making areas and importantly no toilet facilities. The sight of people defecating unacceptable.

Cathryn Cooper (Cape Town , 2022-07-14)

#238

The tent town is taking over Durbanville and safety for residents (that are rate payers!!!!!) is a big concern

Vanessa Mory (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

I reside in Durbanville and do not want to risk the increase in crime in the area

Hein Kleynhans (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

We are sick and tired of our beautiful area that we are paying taxes on being ruined by vagrants. It has become an absolute drug den that no one is doing anything about. They have totally taken over our town. We cannot even take a walk without fearing for our safety. They are not only in the centre of of town but have now started moving into the suburbs. I have spoken to our security, the police and even the city of Cape Town, but absolutely nothing has been done about it. We currently have a second tent city going up under the bushes on the corner of Vissershok and Fairtrees Rd. It has been estimated that there are about 80 people currently living there totally under the radar.

Michelle Chandler (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#248

Because its wrong People cant just put tents up everywhere. Brings down property values and looks horrible

Elzette Engelbrecht (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#249

We are tired of the dirt, feeling unsafe and having Durbanville become a squatters camp. Why the council had allowed this?

Penny Zelie (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

Pimblett Schanka (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

I am signing because I constantly feel unsafe in my own neighbourhood. I feel to unsafe to even go for a walk or run in Valmary Park due to the inhabitants of the illegal tent town in the centre of town roaming the streets of Durbanville.

Michelle Reyneke (Durbanville,Valmary Park, 2022-07-14)

Liani Myburgh (Cape Town , 2022-07-14)

#286

Ons dorp Durbanville is besig om te verval as gevolg van tente wat net opgeslaan word.
Dit is lankal nie meer “state of emergency” as gevolg van covid nie. Hierdie mense moet verwyder word uit ons mooi dorp uit.

Riana Ebertsohn (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#288

I pay rates and taxes and these people don’t. My property value is decreasing due to the informal settlements and I want them to be moved.

Johann Pretorius (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#290

Durbanville is my home and I want it to be a safe and beautiful place to live in, for me and my children.

Ashleigh Van Wyk (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#295

I am a concerned resident that has personally experienced the increase of migrants in our neighbourhood. I work from home and see MANY people go through my bin twice a week. The bell is constantly going, people looking for food, clothes etc. I am also a concerned parent that has personally seen how the migrants engage in conversations with the children at Durbanville Primary as their tents are right next to the school ground. MES is doing an amazing job but their research shows that the migrants are making on average R800 a day. If this is truly the case I see this problem getting out of hand very quickly

Bronwyn Esterhuizen (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#298

I a signing this petition because the tent area in Durbanville is unacceptable. They need to be removed immediately. Durbanville was always a beautiful and neat village

Emarie Janse van Rensburg (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

The tents need to go. They are bringing crime and unsanitary conditions into Durbanville. We pay our taxes and we want this to be used for formal accommodation for them.

Kirsty Scully (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

The tent owners and Durbanville residents need a better solution than doing nothing which is effectively what City is doing.

I'm signing this because I'm already supporting other homeless organisations, which could help rehabilitiet them back into society, but only if they are pushed to do so.

Eleanor Kerkman (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#326

These people should get some other more suitable grounds to stay as in an informal settlement.

Ilze Mostert (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#329

There is enough stress and upheaval in people's lives at the moment without adding more. The government should do something to remove these people from this illegal action. And they're right next to the SAPS??!!! Why are the cops turning a blind eye???

Theresa Ade (Cape town, 2022-07-14)

#332

The tent city is unsanitary (no ablutions or running water, fires are in a no fire area) and especially where it is situated. Opp primary school.

Michele Gibbs (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#400

Our supposed leaders are not helping to keep our town safe and clean. The tents are becoming a serious security and health risk and it is now up to us as residence to start taking action. Enough is enough!!!
