NEW TENT RESIDENTS DURBANVILLE

Comments

#408

I live in Church street and feel extremely unsafe with these “tent people” sleeping just down the road. They regurlarly make a nuisance of themselves by begging and if you don’t want to hand them money or food they become aggresive. They also scratch in the bins and leave a huge mess that we then have to clean.

Esti Yan (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

I am signing this petition because i want to contribute to cleaning up inappropriate use of land in Durbanville the health hazard and unsafety that comes with it.

Michele Roberts (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#412

I live in Durbanville and are witnessing the growth of these settlements and the rising crime, like theft, break ins and bin scratchers that make our neighbourhoods unsafe for our children!!

Tessa Pitout (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#416

Remove the tent city. Unhealthy and unsafe.

Sean Tucker (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#418

Our central town area is becoming a squatter camp. The rates don't go down but the value of our house is decreasing. This is not why we've voted for the DA party.

Edna Van Tonder (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#421

We pay enough tax for this not to happen

Charles Pitout (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#423

The City needs to deal with this growing problem ASAP

Lian Terblanche (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#426

They should not stay in our roads and damages our properties.

Danie Hanekom (Durbanville Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

I agree with all that has been stated above.

Heath Stewart (Cape Town , 2022-07-14)

#435

Im signing cause the lack of authority and lazyness of representitives to do what they are suppose to do. Otherwise i will invite all homeless to camp on councilars side walk and take a dump in their driveway. Sick and tired of backboneless governance.

Will Nolte (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

Illegal setup of tents at 1 Baxter in durbanville causes us to feel unsafe due to the tent owners walking around all hours in the area; nakedness in public; urinating in gardens and pavements infront of our children

Carina Hayman (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

Law Enforcement as far as Kenridge/Durbanville is useless (Saps not so good either albeit they are overstretched) . This is a political issue and the DA does not want to take a stand other than useless rehabilitation programs and promises of homeless shelters to be built. (I am a DA voter)The bleeding hearts of Durbanville is also to blame by donating tents. We had/have the same problem in Kenridge/Doordekraal during Covid lockdown and Law Enforcement and City Police did not respond to hundreds of Requests logged by ratepayers. Some Local residents took matters into their own hands and removed them without violence.
We, as voters need to force the councillors to make a public statement regarding this potentially explosive matter.

Fred Miller (Bellville, 2022-07-14)

#450

I am signing this petition as it is an issue which needs to be addressed for all parties concerned

Carol Millar (DURBANVILLE, 2022-07-14)

Antoinette Reed (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

I agree with all points raised and especially the fact that it is directly opposite Durbanville Primary School.

Charmaine Gray (Cape+Town+, 2022-07-14)

#478

It is disgusting to see what is happening to our beautiful Durbanville. Its not even safe for kids to walk to school anymore.

Charlene Young (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#482

I live in Durbanville close to the tent city. The people also make a mess in church street right in front of the heritage building.

Magda Rizwan (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#486

This is a problem and WILL develop into MAJOR issues in Durbanville! It is unacceptable!

Dee Grey (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#487

Not only do we pay a high rate to stay in durbanville but it use to be safe walking thru the streets. Not anymore. We went out the other night and the people that stayed in the tents keep bugging us. We felt extremely unsafe. This needs to stop

Carla Smit (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#495

I care about my community.

Sunette van Wyk (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#497

We pay our rates and taxes and try to be law abiding citizens. There IS help for the homeless people but they don’t want to make use of it and get a job. Because this is then responsibility. Some of them are on the spectrum and need to be properly diagnosed and treated. Once again there is help. There is PASSIONATE people giving their time, skills and money towards helping these people. So if they still don’t want help, they need to move. Then my compassion with them runs out.

Be part of the economy to make the wheels turn. If not, move on and out of the area. Simple as that. Don’t ruin the peace and hard work we put in to keep our area looking neat and save.

Marianne Hückstedt (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#501

Unacceptable to allow a squatter camp to be erected in the heart of Durbanville with such a rich heritage, let alone that it devalues the entire area

Pierre De Waal (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#504

I live in Durbanville and it is sad to see the untidy tents scattered around our beautiful village. What are we paying taxes for.

Zelda Atkins (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#505

It is becoming a security risk in our area. People do not feel safe at all in the area, and it also has an increase in crime in the area.

Pierre Fourie (Eversdal, 2022-07-14)

#507

We have to stop the tents!

Ronelle Du Toit (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#508

Ek is moeg daarvoor dat mense orals kan plak en dit toegelaat word. Daar is ook al plakkers in eversdal weg.

Dea Oosthuizen Muller (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#513

It’s disgusting what’s happening to our beautiful town. An eye-sore to say the least. We are paying rates & taxes. This should not be tolerated. It looks like Durbanville’s own Khayelitsha site.

Michelle Myburgh (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#515

This is a huge concern for health and safety reasons.

Marise Breet (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#518

Although I feel sorry for the homeless and destitute, I am worried about the health situation, having no ablution facilities, and the fire hazard. The government should be housing these people as promised when they came into power. Instead of lining their own pockets! It’s an utter disgrace.

Patsy Surrall (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#527

Ek bly al 35 jaar in Durbanville. My dorp gaan elke dag agteruit. Die gebied by die kerk is een groot gemors. Mens is nie meer veilig nie. Elke keer wat ek daar verby ry, staan daar net nog 'n tent. Ek betaal elke maand belasting en eiendomsbelasting. Hierdie mense kom plak net wil alles hê.

Amelia Bezuidenhout (Sonstraal, 2022-07-14)

#534

There must be a beter alternative solution

Cobus Vd Westhuizen (Cape town, 2022-07-14)

#535

I do feel sorry for the homeless, but the government should look after them and cannot be allowed to start living just anywhere without services.

Ansie Ibbotson (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#543

This is becoming an extremely big problem. I was told that nothing could be done as we were in a state of emergency. This has now been lifted, yet the problem is getting bigger and bigger.
Also I have a granddaughter in Durbanville Primary School directly opposite this site. She has confirmed that the kids are sworn at and the illegal squatters beg food from school kids. This is extremely dangerous and concerning. We demand immediate action to have these people removed. BEFORE THE SCHOOL RE-OPENS ON TUESDAY.!!!!!!

Mareleae Marais (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#549

I am signing because the tents need to be moved. It is a security and a health hazard. It brings down our beautiful town!

Chantal Pieters (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#558

I think the situation needs to be changed and these tent families deserve to be moved to a better suited site that meets basic human requirements and facilities

Jenna Bester (Cape town, 2022-07-14)

#560

It is devaluating our properties, It is a health issue. No toilets or water.

Nelia Jansen (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#564

This situation is already way out of hand, and needs to be seriously addressed.

Heather nicholson (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#566

It is not safe for the primary shool children

Talitha Wiegmann (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#569

The squatters are taking over and getting more every day

Rouve Hattingh (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#570

I am a resident and this really is a huge problem.

Bibi Rall (Cape Town, Durbanville, Valmary Park, 2022-07-14)

#574

I agree with everything. It is especially bad with young children at school opposite the road having sight of people doing there toilet in the public. There even was a sexual incident between 2 tent habitants across the street from the primary school during school time which is totally unacceptable and require urgent action from law inforcement.

Francois de Villiers (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#575

I am a rate payer in Durbanville and do not want an informal settlement in the midst of my town as has happened in Hout Bay

Harry Wallace (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#579

I do not want these people in the centre of Durbanville. We have proof that they break in and stolen goods were found in their tents. It is a health hazard too. This illegal squatting is against the law

Heidi Rousseau (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#580

Unacceptable to have these settlements just arising anywhere especially in middle of a town. Great health hazard.

Marlene de Lange (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#587

Because I care for my community

Joy Marais (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#588

It results in litter, human toilet stuff on parks and constant break inns.

Werner Swart (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#592

It's unacceptable

Anne Fenn (Durbanville , 2022-07-14)

#593

We cannot allow government to further destroy our beautiful country, or to infringe on my right to safety. Property values are negatively impacted. This is a health and fire danger and brings crime right to our doorsteps.

Adrien Kotze (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)

#595

Get you fingers out your asses and do something about it

James Kinnear Le Roux Sales (Durbanvile , 2022-07-14)

#598

Kids across the road watching people in the nude and defacating everywhere in public space , health hazard

Bruce Lambourne (Cape Town, 2022-07-14)

#600

This needs to be stopped now. Washing hanhing on a rope, rubbish everywhere, smoke and open fires day and night, not to talk about lack of toilet facilities, water etc. Shelters are available.

Rina Neumann (Durbanville, 2022-07-14)
