By making these people comfortable they will never leave the area and crime will continue to rise. Safety first!

Petro van Wyk (Durbanville Hills, 2022-07-15)

I grew up in Durbanville and my kids are also growing up here. We are close to the tented area and the number of vagrants have just grown and we have had bikes and clothes stolen from our yard since this issue started.

Juanita van der Merwe (Cape Town, 2022-07-15)

I have complained to ward councillors before. I was told that most of the tent dwellers actually to have homes of places they can live not far away but choose to live here. We were told that they may not be moved because of lock down rules. Well, that has now been lifted and the tent population is growing. The children across the street are being harrassed at breaktime because it it opposite the school and they go to the fence to engage with the children. Garden furniture to the homes are being stollen and worst of all these rate paying citizens that live close to the tent dwellers have to clean up the mess daily. We are tired of pleading for help in this regard.

Shandre Bosch

Totally unacceptable and tents needs to be removed right away!!!!!

Werner Jooste (Durbanville, Cape Town, 2022-07-15)

#1015

Not acceptable and we as rate payers are fed up with council or SAPS doing nothing about this problem.

Paul Scott (Durbanvill , 2022-07-15)

#1016

House values going down, health hazard, dangerous, unsightly. We pay too much taxes to be surrounded by tents.

Tayla Hanekom (Durbnville, 2022-07-15)

#1028

My rights to a clean and safe Durbanville is being violated

Perot Louw (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

I fully agree with the reasons mentioned.

Bruce Du Toit (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1038

The situation is getting out of control and more and more tents are popping up in that area and before you see that whole area is covered with homeless shacks! Please do something about the situation!

Hannes Du Preez (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1039

Not good for Durbanvillle

Anda Marais (Cape Town, 2022-07-15)

#1045

Due to increase in crime in area, our office is nearby.

Anton Gouws (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1049

Dit is so hartseer hoe Durbanville agteruit gegaan het.

Heleen Wiles (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1052

I am living in Durbanville and these tents will let our property values go down and crime is going up
There are no toilet facilities there and not safe for our children

Rene Bosch (Durbanville , 2022-07-15)

#1056

I am concerned that people can just put up tents anywhere with no infrastructure/sanitation etc and that crime is only getting worse in Durbanville since this has been allowed to grow without interference from your office.

Sharon Kent (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1057

This has become a huge problem.COVID restrictions were given as reason for non removal of a few tents ,now the tent town is growing iso COVID restrictions being lifted

Francois de Beer (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1060

Its a health threat and safety hazzard.

Heidi Viljoen (Cape Town, 2022-07-15)

#1070

We need to help the people. But a better solution must be found

Amanda Rossouw (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1071

I'm signing because I am deeply concerned about the rising crime rate in the area due to all the vagrants allowed to settle here.

Douglas Reid (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1072

The tent town is unacceptable

Michelle Millen (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1074

I am signing this because I believe where the tents are now, it is not only a health hazard but also very negative for us as rate payers. As a Durbanville resident I will support MES but then the tent residents must be willing to get help and go to MES. If not they must move!

Liezel Dry (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1078

I live in Durbanville and this tent population is going to cause crime and scurge to increase in Durbanville. Already the litter lying around in Durbanville from all the people living on the streets is out of control.

Janice Schilder (Durbanville , 2022-07-15)

#1079

I am hugely concerned that these squatters could become a problem for the primary school kids across the road. Unfortunately this could also result in a huge health risk for all as there are no toilets or running water. This is also not allocated ground for occupation and therefore these people should be removed. After all, are there no laws regarding this or do we now teach all that its ok to break the law? Serios depreciation of properties because of this...

Marguerite Esterhuizen (Cape Town , 2022-07-15)

#1080

Because not only does the tent camp cause increased crime but it also promotes the idea that squatting is allowed in our area. I pay taxes for a reason, safety for family is one of the main reasons.

Burt Slabbert (Cape Town, 2022-07-15)

#1095

I believe we can find a more suitable place and permanent structure for these people to live in

Liezl Loubser (Durbanville , 2022-07-15)

#1098

I am signing this petition to remove a tented area in my town.
We are paying high taxes to live in a save clean and decent area.

Gerard Van der Merwe (D`urbanvale, 2022-07-15)

#1100

My children stays in Durbanville and I do art classes in Central Durbanville. What a sore eye!

A Carstens (Parow, 2022-07-15)

#1101

As a single mother in this area our safety has been affected in many ways. We cannot walk outside of our complex after certain hours. Also walking to nearby shops are unsafe. Needless to say I do not even think of going for a run alone or woth my daughter. We have experienced a shocking number of break-ins. Please can something be done?!

Jeanne-Mari Prinsloo (Cape Town , 2022-07-15)

#1103

It is a site for sore eyes when a person drives towards Wellington Rd. That is not a suitable place for people to live - no water, sanitation etc……

Vanessa Rose (Cape Town, 2022-07-15)

#1108

It is not a healthy situation. It will just grow bigger and create all sorts of social and health risks. It will also create a safety problem.
Government needs to provide for these people and help them with housing in a suitable area.

Retha Aylward (Cape Town, 2022-07-15)

#1110

I am a long time resident of Durbanville and this is unacceptable and needs to be addressed urgently.

Lyn Nicol (Cape Town, 2022-07-15)

I live in Durbanville and see the campsite every time I go shopping in the village.

Rob Cooper (Cape Town , 2022-07-15)

#1116

New home owner

Burger Rall (Cape town Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1118

I believe this area is letting down the rights and lifestyle of our home residents of Durbanville. These homeless folk should be given a more suitable place. We as Durbanville residents can not allow this! It is unacceptable! Surely someone has authority to change this or does nobody actually have any kind of authority.

Karla Linder (Cape Town, 2022-07-15)

#1120

Crime has escalated in area since tented camp next to Durban Road started and there are no ablution facilities so it is unhigienic

Lizel Gouws (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1125

Unacceptable situasion!

Sarah Mellett (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1127

These people needs to be relocated. They are close too a primarily school and could be a danger to the small children.

Nathania Roux (Cape Town, 2022-07-15)

#1143

The current situation is untenable and has the potential to escalate out of control. I understand solutions are not easy, but homeless people must be assisted to relocate to an area which is serviced.

Sharon Kling (Durbanville , 2022-07-15)

#1146

This is unacceptable. Our rates increase at an alarming rate and we are now being subjected to unauthorized residencies in our area.

Sally Du Toit (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1149

The tent people need to be allowed to live with dignity. Kindly ensure that they are moved to a location where this is possible.

Kim Van Der Merwe (Vergesig, 2022-07-15)

#1151

I am especially concerned about the growth of the number of tents, the lack of ablution facilities and the location - town centre, opposite a primary school.

Helen Simpson (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1154

It is not appropriate place for them

Ancha Esterhuizen (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1156

Ek woon al langer as 40 jaar hier in die dorp en wat nou hier op my drumpel gebeur, is baie, baie ontstellend.

Stephanie Laubscher (Durbanville , 2022-07-15)

#1158

Totally unacceptable for sqatters in the centre of Durbanville

William Warner (Cape Town, 2022-07-15)

#1161

Because this needs to dealt with urgently in a lawful and humane manner.

Peter Bullen (Dutbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1163

The decay of our town has been evident in the last 2 years. Multiple requests have been ignored despite numerous cases of indecent exposure and harassment having been opened by the Durbanville police.

Vicki Kruger (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1167

People owning houses in this area can’t sell die this problem. This is a big eyesore on our area and on our investments

Anita Griesel (Cape+Town+, 2022-07-15)

#1170

It is quite obvious that neither central nor local government have any capacity/interest in handling this issue. Doing nothing implies tacit acceptance. This is unacceptable; we are not paying rates and taxes for this to happen on our doorstep.

Matt Brenzel (Durbanville , 2022-07-15)

#1171

I agree with everything said in the above report.

Anna Coetsee (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1176

This is unacceptable as we pay a hell of a lot for our houses! If they can do this, I will ho build my free house as well!

Karin Heydenrych (Durbanville, Cape Town , 2022-07-15)

#1177

It was cleared not so long ago and they came back. It's been months and no one has relocated the people.

Grant Seeley (Durbanville , 2022-07-15)

#1180

I’m signing because our town can’t be used as a toilet for people to come and squat here

Rudolph Reynecke (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)

#1187

So many reasons ... #1 Toilet facilities.#2 Garbage....and the list can go on

Marius Maas (Durbanville , 2022-07-15)

#1191

ENOUGH !!!!

Joe du Buy (Durbanville, 2022-07-15)
