Opposed to builders trying to change our environment and lifestyle.

I am saddened by the insane growth of the county. Money talks, right?? So much traffic, every inch of nature torn up for big housing projects. The Bayshore community was supposed to be kept country. With room for trees and wildlife and air to breathe. Please stop counting you money and stop this out of control building. Soon, we will be called Little Miami.

I like the rural way it is, that is why we moved here

I am a resident of Calusa Woods located on Hwy. 78 (Bayshore) and less than two miles from the Wells Rd. property in question. Due to Babcock, traffic is already a major problem along this corridor and we are very concerned about the continued push to "develop" this decreasingly rural section of the Lee County, particularly with the increased risk of local flooding, as demonstrated during Hurricane Ian.

I enjoy living in the woods and so far the development of property has been removing all the trees and the flooding and traffic east of 75 is horrific. Slow down you are moving too fast!

I oppose commercial development encroaching on private rural neighborhoods like mine.

SCOTT ROGOWSKI (North Ft Myers , 2022-11-10)

The massive amounts of traffic has already negatively altered the pace of the Bayshore community, adding to the congestion for the folks that moved to this area &/or have a business in this corridor. Our water quality and abundance is already lessened from acceptable levels. There should be NO change to the permitting for this parcel until the infrastructure can sustain this type of growth. We have unacceptable levels of flooding due to unchecked zoning practices.

We do not need more traffic on bayshore. It is hard enough to get my kids to school. What used to take less than 10 minutes has increased to over 20 in the past 2 years.

Heather Anderson (N Ft Myers, 2022-11-11)

I am concerned about overdevelopment of the Bayshore area and inadequate infrastructure.

As a 9th generation cracker, born and raised in nfm, I am totally against ANY further development our rural Bayshore area. Please stop destroying our way of life to line your own pockets.

There is not adequate infrastructure to support the development at the end of Wells Road.

I am signing this petition because I am worried about the flow of traffic that is not addressed, the increase in the development that is proposed and the water management of said development. The planning department has recently approved a six acre lake to go into the development behind Oakmont which is at the end of Wells Road and open it to the public. I am sure this will increase traffic on Bayshore when opened and add to the concern of water management within this vicinity. Love’s Travel Stop and all the development that has occurred on Bayshore and 31 has increased the semi traffic going down Bayshore. We understand development will occur but the development need not cover every square inch of land or allow two story buildings that will only allow more numbers of people to be on the land congesting already congested traffic. Also to put an entrance exit from said development on Wells a road where neighbors have to sometime stop to let each other pass by or to wait for the school bus to let children on and off is not a road a business needs to use. Thanks for your consideration.

This is our home and this is where our friends and family are. We don’t need big corporations destroying what we’ve worked hard for.

Brittany Eads (North fort myers, 2022-11-11)

The infrastructure cannot handle what you are proposing. Also, this is a a rural area that should not even be considered especially with all the vacant commercial off US 41

1. Once it's gone, it's gone. For all the talk about environment, Florida sure is going the wrong way! 2. And others and outsiders ruin it for the majority in the area that are there specifically because it is rural! All the rest are after money, duh! follow the $$$
Let's hear more about how they will save the natural beauty of Florida instead of how they're going to take it all down? Where's the land czar? Where's the logical mitigation?

Evelyn Zidek (N fort myers, 2022-11-11)

We agree with all of the above. Furthermore the Babcock community is a self serving planned community and should in no way affect the planning of this property.

I’m tired of seeing our country town taken away from us. Stop the big construction and houses on top of each other. Keep NFM country.

We do not need any more growth in this area. We are a rual single family home area. We have enough businesses. We do not need to increase traffic in our area.

I have a letter from Chip Merriam SFWMD stating that the filling of this 178 square mile flood plain will exacerbate the depth & duration of the flooding. Kitson removed the 4 mile canal that was to accept water west of SR 31 flowing over the road to the east. FDOT plans to raise SR 31 three feet, how much will that add to the depth of the sheetflow during large events? I am assuming SR 78 will also be raised. No one should be filling any of this flood plain and diverting sheet flow until the proper conveyance is put in which is not feasible due to the pollution excessive runoff causes to the Caloosahatchee River. This 178 square mile area between the Caloosahatchee River, to the south. Bermont Road to the north, I 75 to the west and SR 31 to the east has had 10 Studies done on it all worth 1 million each, they all say the same damn thing. New roads and berms dam the sheetflow and exacerbate the flooding which has been proven over and over again. So why is Lee County and Floriduh State governments so ignorant as to continue the trend of ruining peoples lives and allowing development in large NORTHERN EVERGLADES sheetflow flooding areas if there is no plan to install conveyance to maintain the average 18" inches of sheetflow typical of the Everglades? Why must my government terrorize it's citizens? Irma and 2006 Ernest had depths of 31" of water at grade 600 feet from the county line a mile north of Nalle Grade Road. Welborn Road had 6" of water at the south end. After the 2010 Popash berm was put in Welborn Road had 20" at the south end from Irma. Berms suck big time, but hey we don't need basic services like fire trucks, ambulances, garbage pickup, UPS, Fedex etc for weeks at a time do we?

I’m signing because this affects my livelihood and my neighborhood. This affects our only major asset, our home. This proposed development threatens the very way we live our life.

Danielle Moraine (North Fort Myers, 2022-11-15)

I am greatly concerned with the potential development of this parcel that the current two lane SR78 infrastructure simply can not support at this time.

We do not need commercial development to help Babcock. The Babcock community is self supported. The traffic is already bad at the intersection of Wells and Bayshore.

Robert Lanier (Fort Myers, 2022-11-26)

#87

No. There is already too much traffic. Turning onto Baysbore from Pritchett or Wells is already a major safety issue, additional commercial space adding to that is unnecessary and unwelcome.

Morgan Mills (North Fort Myers, 2022-11-26)

#88

I drive in the area weekly

We live here and with all the building we will always flood.

Ashley Weeks (North Fort Myers , 2022-11-26)

This request is totally inappropriate to Bayshores rural lifestyle and the residents that live near it. The roads are not set up for the amount of traffic this would cause to this residential neighborhood. A 4 story hotel overlooking it's neighbors is totally inappropriate. No increase in commercial activity.

Debbie Jackow (N. Fort Myers, 2022-12-04)

I oppose any development that affects the area in many aspects such as rezoning, traffic congestion, rural lifestyle, wildlife, flooding, insurance increases (Auto/Home), overpopulation and potential increase in crime. Little by little they’re trying to turn the area into another Cape Coral or Miami, where it will drive the cost of living off the roof with chaos everywhere. We chose to live in these areas for a reason now they want to turn our green landscape into pure concrete blocks. Look at Miami you can barely move with chaos that affects every aspect of your cost of living and lifestyle (Homeowners/Rent Increases /Traffic Congestion/Tolls/Parking Cost/Crime/Property Tax Increase) and Pollution. There will be an increase of homeless population reaching our Bayshore lines with everyone camping out like they do in San Francisco, CA. Next, they will want to develop skyscrapers with millions of people living in them looking over your ranch tossing cigarette buds, beer bottles, and urinating from their balconies. It's insane.

I'm signing because enough is ENOUGH!!! As a 60+ year resident, I grew up here and the atmosphere of my town has been significantly changed and not all for the good. This is not just a money thing, it's a family-value thing and the right thing to do.

Lynn Lee (Fort Myers, 2022-12-21)

#112

The area is already experiencing growth at an alarming rate, turning us into a "suburb" of Fort Myers. This project will exacerbate the current problem, including burgeoning traffic and unsafe driving!

Cynthia Presson (Alva, 2022-12-30)

#113

The traffic situation on Bayshore is becoming a nightmare. When DR Horton finishes their expansions up Pritchett Parkway this will be even worse. What would happen with a larger hotel at this location.

BRIDGET PHILLIPS (Alva, 2023-01-09)

#115

I do not agree with this request. I do not the extra traffic and noise, but most importantly I don’t want to see native wildlife displaced with their habitats destroyed.

I support the petition.
