#132

The damage to infrastructure from illegal mining is horrific and the repair costs get channeled down to the law abiding taxpayers

Alan Bridger (Germiston, 2023-08-31)

#133

This has become criminal as lives are increasingly at stake. Road infrastructure is becoming affected (which makes me wonder when homes will get swallowed up by a sinkhole.) Things are only going to get worse and worse if these people are given any amount of freedom. The more drastic, the better as it will shut them down before they can find any in-roads or ways around it again.

Devon van Laren (Germiston, 2023-08-31)

#136

I live in Brakpan and illegal mining has already caused roads to collapse and nothing has been done about it

Stopping of Illegal mining

Marilena Capriello (Germiston, 2023-08-31)

#155

Illegal mining is a major concern to the residents of Ekurhuleni. It causes devastating earth tremors, and sinkholes, and destroys road infrastructure. Residents also live in fear for their safety and are constantly harassed by uncontrolled dynomite explosions and gunfights among rival mining gangs. It is the responsibility of government to ensure the health and safety of residents and the immediate environment where mining activity is concerned.

Nella Scola (Jhb, 2023-08-31)

#158

I lay in bed at night and I hear gunfire, the zama zamas shooting at each other, woken up at 3am with a bang when they blow aup ground for another shift..... darkness.... they mined into a cable..... the cable takes a week to be repaired..... food goes off.... additional money is spent by the lucky ones who have generators. This is theft! Why are they left to just carry on? Why is nothing done, if I steal something I will land in jail but it is ok for them to mine illegally shoot automatic firearms endanger the lives of law abiding citizens and make them feel unsafe in their own homes. We pay for what we have and then we don't even get what we pay for all the time, but yet you allow people to infringe on our rights people who want everything and pay for nothing break the law and steal, yet that is ok and us that pay our taxes and obey the law must just keep quite. That is simply not acceptable. Something must be done we are tires of this.

Estelle De Wet (Primrose , 2023-08-31)

I am sick and tired of the problems the zama-zamas causes in Plantation, Boksburg. Gunshots at night, sinkhole on Rondebult Road, being unsafe in Plantation due to the fighting of the zama-zamas. We do not ask anything out of the ordinary but that the city of Ekurhuleni just do what needs to be done to deal with the zama-zamas.

Maryna Human (BOKSBURG, 2023-08-31)

The illegal miners are putting people's livelihood and safety at risk - illegal means the law specifically forbids it and that is self-explanatory to anyone with half a brain cell
