Canadian drug and homeless policies are causing a violation of our right to public safety.

The harm reduction policy does not work. Addicted persons need recovery and psychiatric support. THIS is where the funding should go.

Jennifer Bond (Toronto, 2023-11-25)

#3

I am fed up with our most vulnerable being exposed to illicit drug activity and the crime it has brought to our neighborhood.
Children and seniors are our most vulnerable!

Shawna Piche (Chatham , 2023-11-25)

#7

governments work for the tax payers

steve fisher (timmins, 2023-11-25)

#8

Our local governments have not done enough to solve homelessness but have instead supported the enabling of addiction that continues to build a downward spiral ruining more lives and communities. We can do better. We MUST do better. Rehabilitation is the only solution to the addiction and we need more government support for rehab beds. Solve the root problems of addiction and mental health issues.

Jeff Davis (Oshawa, 2023-11-25)

Our elected officials placed a low barrier shelter in our neighborhood. I’m a senior citizen who use to go for daily walks now because of the shelter I no longer walk daily after what has happened to me since the shelter opened May 2022

Louise Morrison (Chatham, 2023-11-25)

#14

I’m signing because there is a homeless shelter in my neighborhood!

Catherine Potvin (Chatham , 2023-11-25)

#15

Safe supply, safe injection, low barrier housing - all the services normalizing drug use must end.

Christeen Forster (London, 2023-11-25)

#16

One does not need to be a genius to understand that the behaviours and activities surrounding these shelters shouldn’t be across the street from where children and seniors live- they’re our most vulnerable

Jeff Piche (Chatham, 2023-11-25)

My family wants to live in a safe community.

Tatiana Khristonko (London, 2023-11-25)

#18

Public safety is a human right. When low barrier shelters are placed in residential neighbourhoods, the impact is loss of freedom and exposure to drug-induced crime and/or violence. Dangerous offenders are walking our streets. We have the right to feel safe in our communities. We want our safe communities back.

Denise Boudreau (Courtice, 2023-11-25)

This needs to be addressed and the opioid addiction to stop

I am fed up, and disgusted with what our elected officials are doing to our communitys, and our vulnerable citizens. I support this initiative 100 percent.

Stop accepting and encouraging drug use everywhere. Our cities are dying one by one. It’s time for change before it gets any worse!!

Tracey Kelly (Whitby, 2023-11-25)

#24

There is a low barrier shelter going in steps from my front door and my family and I are now forced to move to feel safe. Residential areas is not the place!

Jessica Princis (Whitby, 2023-11-25)

#28

I’m signing because we need real long term solutions not bandaid solutions. Everyone in our community needs to feel safe. Children don’t need to grow up in a society that normalizes drug use and leaving drug paraphernalia in the parks. We need safe places for kids to be kids. They need to be able to play safely. What happens when a child falls on a needle in the grass and contracts hepatitis or another illness? Are they just have to live with it? Is it okay for them to potentially die from the complications because no one cared to protected our communities? These scenarios are not okay. We need to create stricter regulations. We need to stop enabling drug use. We need to stop normalizing drugs. We need to make our communities safe again.

Annabelle Wilson (Whitby, 2023-11-25)

#29

I’m signing this because I shouldn’t feel like we are a prisoner in our own neighbourhood. I not against helping those in need but this go far beyond that. Low barrier shelters put the community around the shelter at risk. We need to stop having the communities feel in heard and unwelcome in the place they are trying to call home.

Ken Wilson (Whitby, 2023-11-25)

#30

I’m fed up with our elected officials deciding to make our neighborhoods less safe for the law abiding hard working citizen. It is time to take back our communities and force out the corrupt, self serving officials. We have rights also and we follow the laws and we work hard.

Harmony Wilson (Whitby, 2023-11-25)

#34

I live close to a new shelter opening this winter and I am not happy about it being in a residential area. So close to young kids, schools, parks and vulnerable green spaces.

Elaine Leufkens (Whitby, 2023-11-26)

#35

Evidence supports that the
Manner in which drug abuse is being addressed in this country is not working. In fact it’s making the problem worse and it is now threatening the safety and well being of innocent citizens and their families. This has to stop. I support drug and addiction rehabilitation. We need to stop enabling and encourage addicts and we need to protect our innocent children from this harmful and risky lifestyle. No low barrier shelters in residential neighborhoods!
Risky lifestyle

Kathy Cannon (Whitby, 2023-11-26)

I am a victim of a violent crime many years ago in Whitby.
I will stand up now and I will say that enough is enough.
I am also going to point fingers with evidence from years ago at the anppo officials and the current elected people, who haven’t realized they are in the service of the people who pay their salaries and expenses…btw …I mean the taxpayers..not the developers .

Stacey Fox (Whitby , 2023-11-26)

#39

I'm signing because Durham Region is forcing a Low Barrier Shelter on us. It is right beside my house.

Karen Huska (Whitby, 2023-11-26)

#40

Enough is enough. If housed individuals cannot possess, buy, or sell these drugs, then why are we letting the unhoused population? It's not compassionate to watch people kill themselves or eachother on the streets.

Stratton Findlay (Oshawa, 2023-11-26)

Kathy Perry (Whitby, 2023-11-26)

#52

Tired of the tyranny of the minority that is becoming endemic in too many communities and the elected officials who are enabling and in many cases assisting in the slow motion destruction of public safety and security.

We need these changes immediately to have our city back to normal..

Julie Chartrand (Timmins, 2023-11-26)

I am signing because, things need to change, drugs should not be legal nor should places for them to use at , things are not going to get better if there is not change

Low barrier shelter has destroyed our City.

Jackie Pelletier (Timmins, 2023-11-27)

#78

I don’t believe that reducing the guilt associated with drug taking supports the cessation of drug dependency and consequently drug dependency becomes more common, impacting the health and safety of City of Toronto residents.

Sue Guillemette (Porcupine, 2023-11-27)

I currently have a bail bed house located right beside me. This has caused a significant impact to our day to day lives. Our property value has decreased. These types of programs should not be allowed to be in residential areas.

Caroline Deschenes (Timmins, 2023-11-28)

I am signing this petition because I’m tired of my children with autism picking up Needles in my yard

Policy has failed.

Michael Talevi (Timmins, 2023-11-28)

#106

There is a low barrier shelter in my neighborhood!! It is literally destroyed out neighborhood before our eyes. Theft. Loitering. Littering. Drug use. Scream yelling. It used to be a nice area.

Trista Mandia (Pembroke , 2023-11-28)

#112

I’m signing this petition because I have had enough. I would like to see my tax payer money go towards education ( TVDSB has so many shortages in terms of funds and resources) and healthcare than encouraging more drug usage. Research has shown that giving free drugs does not reduce addiction at all.

Iyshwarya Gopalakrishnan (London, 2023-11-29)

#113

I am concerned that policy framework is deteriorating and the situation is untenable.

Prerna A (London , 2023-11-29)

I am disgusted by the disregard our city has for its people. Plain and simple. I will stop at no length to ensure these drug hubs do not open.... waste of money and risk to all. Who's insane ides was this anyways! Treatment and sobriety! New facility. GO LONDON!

Janette Cameron (London, 2023-11-29)

#117

It seems evident current responses to the supervised injection sites are REACTIVE. Police, Fire, and Emergency Services are overwhelmed, it is only going to escalate. Frustrated, angry residents in these neighbourhoods are concerned for their safety and for safety of their loved ones. There are three areas of concern, the homeless, mental illness, and the drug addicts. They CANNOT be housed together. We must find alternative solutions to the supervised injection sites, such as Recovery, Rehabilitation, Healing . Source accommodations, tiny homes, containers (which are portable), modular solutions (construction time is reduced) into Non Residential Areas, rehabilitation clinics to assist the youths back into society, create solutions for the mentally ill. Make it uncomfortable for the Drug Dealers.. Be PROACTIVE in solutions.

I disagree with giving alcoholics booze, and addicts drugs.

Close these safe-use sites! It was wrong.

Michelle Oulton (Timmins, 2023-11-29)

Me and my kids suffered immensely because of addicts who after ruining and wasting their lives don't respect or care about others safety and right to a healthy peaceful life.

Maria Khan (London, 2023-11-29)

#128

I am scared for the safety of my family and the safety of my community with this new low barrier shelter opening… in closer walking distance than my grocery store! This has me looking to move out of the area. There is no plan in place for the safety of the community or even the residents for this shelter and I’ve seen the fallout of such shelters in residential neighborhoods first hand. I moved from downtown Toronto once my son was old enough and I had to start looking for needles in the park. I sat at a recent Whitby town meeting and heard how they’re considering paying to have all the sand/dirt removed from all the parks to help with this safety concern!? Who’s paying for this on top of the already curiously high cost of the shelter. Time to move out of Whitby I guess.

Melissa Huntley (Whitby, 2023-11-29)

#136

I’m signing because of 1635 Dundas Low Barrier Homeless Shelter in Whitby being shoved in the middle of our residential neighbourhood without any prior public consultation. 🤬🤬🤬

Sandy Hodder (Whitby, 2023-11-30)

#137

We need common sense measures to enact legislation and bylaws to deter public drug use and consumption, the growing open and 'safe' use through wasteful government spending without consequence and get help to those battling addictions..

I want to see an end to the normalization of drug abuse, and the dangerous practises that follow with harm production.

Jeff McLean (Cobourg, 2023-11-30)

#149

I am sick of nothing being done to help curb the opioid crisis in my city I’m sick of watching my son die daily from opioid addiction I’m sick of not being heard when we need immediate addiction treatment center in our city and not one for 20 people we are in a crisis and need hundreds of beds

Lynn Neish (London, 2023-11-30)

#150

The elected officials need to show responsibility toward their citizen instead of financial rewards.

Marc Charette (Withby, 2023-11-30)

#153

Current government (federal, provincial, municipal) policies/practices around "harm reduction" are recklessly endangering the health, safety and security of residential neighbourhoods across Canada. We need protections, including separation distance provisions, in legislation (as well as zoning by-laws) to keep our neighbourhoods safe.

J Patrick (Toronto, 2023-11-30)

#156

I feel unsafe walking down the street with my children. Our parks are unsafe and overrrun with shelters.

Taera VanRoboys (Chatham, 2023-11-30)

#158

Our county, especially Cobourg, has been overtaken with addicts. Residents are experiencing property damage/theft and an overall lack of feeling safe.

Carol Evans (Port Hope, 2023-11-30)

#161

I’m tired of the ongoing drug addiction in Cobourg! Open drug use, etc…which cause assaults, robberies, verbal abuse and encampments which are disgusting!!! Also, all our services, ambulance, fire, police etc are working double duty to keep up with these addicts! The cost of all these services, helping these people and cleaning up after them is costing our town, county and tax payers more that it should!!

Joy Doncaster (Cobourg, 2023-11-30)

#169

I’m signing this because I’m tired of being scared and can’t enjoy any of our parks with our grandchildren. I don’t even feel safe to go do groceries. Tired of being asked for money everywhere I go. I feel like I need my husband to go out. I’m now living in a city where our government gave all the rights to our addicts and thieves instead of their tax payers, the elders, our children and our grandchildren. We need help for the people that want help not a safe injection place. We need help for mental health.

Jackie Dagenais (Timmins, 2023-12-01)

My town has become a nightmare. Crime and drugs everywhere. It's not safe to live here anymore.

Lois anne Johns (Cobourg, 2023-12-02)

#185

A low barrier homeless shelter is being opened in central Whitby, at EXTREME EXPENSE to the taxpayer, without informing businesses, and when objections were raised, took little or no action to protect the public. Elected officials are NOT for the most part, doing the will of the majority.

NANCY SCHROEDER (Whitby, Ontario, 2023-12-02)

#189

Enough is enough! I’m sick of the crime, the demand on 1st responders, ERs, and waste of resources on those who have no desire to get better and contribute to society.

I’m signing because drug use is increasing at an alarming rate, causing lower standard of living throughout our communities.

Marilyn Parliament (Cobourg , 2023-12-03)

Transition House and The Warming Room are in close proximity to my house. The drug problem in our close knit town is creating so much worry and people are afraid to go out of their homes once it gets dark. Needles and drug paraphernalia are littering our streets.
