I think it is very important not to mix the deadwith live people. And the way HDB and URA handle this clearly shows a complete lack of transparency, adopting a high handed approach. It is about being fair and giving full info to people right from the start so that they can make a better choice.

#137 really summed up the feelings of many of us (future residents of SengKang West SMC) who have been looking forward to our BTO after 3 years of waiting. What an unpleasant surprise to end 2014 and begin 2015. And the kind of responses we are hearing from HDB on this issue, to say the least.

We sincerely hope our future MP can do something and help to convince the authority to reconsider their plan of building a columbarium right next to Fernvale Lea, right in the middle of several housing estates, schools and community activities.

There are line marking on the plot of land intended for the columbarium and also wooden pole lying on the grass patch. Are the fencing up very soon?

Life Corp website shows that "In July 2014, LFC announced its successful tender of a lease hold land in Singapore for the construction of a Chinese temple with columbarium niche storage facility." http://www.cygenics.com/index.php/our-business

How come we are only aware of it now?

Can they relocate the columbarium to Jln Sam Kongsi and Tampines Ave? There are only temples and industrial buildings. Is it a better choice?

Quoting MP Dr. Lam comment that the developer assured that there will not be crematorium or funeral services. However reliazed that in Lifecorp announcement , they declared Full Funeral Services at site if successful in tender - "http://www.lifecorplimited.com/images/announcements/lfc_10jul14.pdf

Paragraph 3 -"The tender if successful represents an important progression for LFC business model of providing a full suite premium funeral service"

This will need to be clarified else it just a smoke bomb to confuse the people , and seen as a delay tactic and avoiding our voices

For all the decent planning that HDB did over the years, this is totally BAD TASTE! While my place is not directly affected by this..it still put me off.

No columbarium near our home! Please DO NOT RUIN our new dream home with it so near to us especially for the sake of our young families and children. Please give our young children a happy environment to grow up.

As you mentioned "used to be". There is no more cemetry in Bishan today, that's why property price went up.

With all due respect, a columbarium is not a temple!
