it's about time the Cypriot people stood up for their rights. They have been exploited enough by incompetent governments who only care about feathering their own nest.

Γιατί δεν κάνετε τη συλλογή υπογραφών στην Ελληνική;

What is required is competion to supply electricity,together with less dependency on oil to generate the electricity

Should not be responisble for mistakes of the government. Monopoly of electric authority should end and competition should enter. Why do we also have to pay for "reneweble energy"??! Private companies (that have invested into wind turbines) had their own capital, EAC should use its own capital and not gain its capital specific for renewable energy from customers (especially when there had been no choice given). When I connected to EAC, there was so such charge - now there is! All new charges should be agreed with customer, this should be an opt–in/out choice, not a necessity... But then again.. we do not have a choice!

Where is the antimonopoly commity? Don't we live in a "democratic" and europian country? Who gave the right for the department that regulates tarriffs to allow two (!!) drastic increases in prices. This department had shown its true face of corruption. Get a low interest credit (additionaly to the insurance payout), it will be more beneficial than sucking out customers hard earned money... Also, why not, instead of rebuilding the station, invest into "alternative" and more efficient source of energy?

This is what happens when "all eggs are in one basket".

One more thing... everyone is shouting out "stop this, stop that"... Everyone acknowledges that a problem exists... why doesn't everyone instead express their ideas on how to solve this problem – that be more efficient...

The reaction of the people is fantastic but we should focus our criticism on the corrupt political parties that have JOINTLY nurtured these inefficient organizations, one of them being EAC, in order to use them to entice our votes. Lets start VOTING RESPONSIBLY FROM NOW ON.

We need an INDEPENDENT PRESIDENT in 2013 to fight the corrupt establishement and that is what we should all be working for as the only practical way to go forward and improve our society.

ΟΛΙΓΟΤΕΡΗ ΚΟΜΜΑΤΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ = ΚΑΛΥΤΕΡΗ ΚΥΠΡΟΣ ( LESS PARTY RULE= A BETTER CYPRUS )

#119 Electricity prices

How come they have not reduced their expenses, I know people who work at the electricity board, have very high salaries, that have never been reduced either for the economic crisis or after Mari, if this were a private company who had a bad year the owners would bear the loss and the personal would cut back on salaries until they could return their salaries back to normal, surely they would be happy to keep their job even if it meant a lower salary today. But no....we can just increase prices and get the customer to pay since he can't get electricity anywhere else....

an absolute disgrace, so much for a 'Peoples Political Party' they are all the same just out for themselves. So selfish and greedy.

Everyone should make one day a week every week a 'no electricity day' where ever they can, just think if everyone stopped using for 3-4 hrs how much the EAC would lose and we would not have to pay. Shop and office owners switch off everything u possible can each and every time you close. There are loads of energy saving tips that can be done with no expense
