Choice is our right as consumers in the EU.
We need competition, not monopoly, in this market

#178 Where can I find the income / expenses statement of EAC?

2012-09-11 13:11

EAC is a public organization and must publish the income / expenses statement annually, for every citizen to be able to see where all of our money goes.

I think that this petition should be signed by every body. I for one am sick and tired of going to work, just to pay the EAC. My last bill was 217 euros, I live in a small one bed flat, with one small 9000 btu ac unit which goes on only at night

Let's start by asking the EAC to end the practice of funding University fees for employees children and giving free lucheon vouchers for employees to spend at local tavernas. Then they can get onto reducing the high pay and gold plated terms of employment for employees that we pay for..

Death is too higher price to pay for the greedy government in Cyprus with it's monopoly on electricity supply. It blows up the generating station with it's incompetence and proceeds to charge it's customers for the repair.Unbelievable!!!
Daylight robbery.

Electricity is a fundamental human need. EAC please find a way to reduce your profits and help the citizens of Cyprus in the dire economic circumstances which many families find themselves. Mari was not our fault - it was utter incompetence at the highest level! Take issue with them - not us! Who will you sell to if most people can no longer afford to buy at these inflated prices?

The EAC is effectively a carbon based energy provider protected by the state. Renewable energy providers that can compete with EAC should receive equal treatment by the state in their market.

As usual in this country, the ordinary and innocent suffer while the greedy just get greedier - and, of course, get away with it!! I thought Cyprus was a democratic, free and fair country - oh silly me......

My Cyprus electricity bill has always seemed very expensive compared to my electricity bill in England, why is this?

In what other country would an energy supplier lend money to its own government to get it out of trouble, something not right there.

Average employee costs EAC around three times more to employ then the private sector. Meaning higher charges needed to over unnecessary costs. Who pays? We do, the public.

Write a comment...The Electricity company continues to overcharge. CYPRUS charges more for its electricity that anywhere in Europe.Instead continualy cuting peoples electricty when they are unable to pay due to unemployment or simply because they are unable. Why dont they INSTALL metres which you can top up with credit as one with a pay as you go scheme. charging also a small percentage from the bill that you weren't able to pay which lead them to putting a metre in the first place. THIS SYSTEM WORKS PERFECTLY IN OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES INCLUDING THE UK. SILLY ME I FORGOT THEY WONT DO THIS BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TO STOP CHARGING THER RECONNECTION FEES.

I am a pensioner and have started spending the winters in UK with my family because I cannot afford to pay the electricity bills,or heat the house, I do not use the immersion or electric heaters, wear 5 layers of clothing, live on salads and vegetables which are cheap and live in my bedroom which is the only room I can afford to heat with a gas heater, do not use my car more than once a week to go to the supermarket as I cannot afford to buy the petrol, it is not pleasant living in Cyprus anymore and wish I could sell the house to return to the UK, I fully agree with the petition and wish there was an authority that could intervene, to help every one especially those with families who are worse off than me

Cyprus electricity charges are the highest in the EU for no reason other than mismanagement by Cyprus government ( re Maris) and the naked greed of EAC.
Suggest another petition asking thousands NOT to pay electricity bills because they are a rip off and will only resume paying when EAC prices come in line with average EU electricity charges.

It's about time something is done to halt the monopoly andprovide with alternative servers. Perhaps then we the people can benefit instead of the fat cats at the top.
